Chris Hackett faces a race against time to be fit for Exeter’s West Country derby.

The on-loan Millwall winger was passed fit to face Colchester on Saturday despite struggling with a knee injury, but was replaced by Daniel Nardiello after just 19 minutes at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

If Hackett is ruled out, Nardiello could start, although the striker was replaced by John O’Flynn 57 minutes after entering proceedings.

Manager Paul Tisdale will be without the suspended defender Danny Coles, who was dismissed during the 2-0 defeat at Colchester for a professional foul on Karl Duguid and serves a one-match suspension.

Steve Tully may earn a promotion from the substitutes’ bench to take Coles’ place in City’s defence.

Meanwhile, Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton is still without a trio of players.

Defender Kerrea Gilbert and midfielders Paul Wotton and Ed Upson are all on the sidelines through suspension.

Gilbert serves the final game of a three-match ban after his sending off against Rochdale on December 17, while Wotton and Upson complete their respected two-match punishments following their accumulation of 10 yellow cards.

Midfielder Conor Clifford was replaced after just 40 minutes against Bournemouth on Saturday and may drop to the bench, with his replacement Steven MacLean possibly earning a promotion to the starting line-up.

Striker Gavin Massey was a second-half substitute against the Cherries and may be given the nod to face Paul Tisdale’s side.

Striker Daniel Nardiello is facing a fight to be fit after being stretchered off just before half-time in the season opener at Stevenage. The club will assess his fitness before the match at Yeovil.

Guillem Bauza could make the squad following his recovery from a knock in pre-season, and may make his debut for the Grecians.

The majority of the side will remain unchanged from the uneventful 0-0 draw at Stevenage, with Paul Tisdale having plenty of options available to him.

Exeter will be hoping to beat their League One rivals and advance to the second round of the Carling Cup for the first time since they regained league status in 2008.

Defender Max Ehmer is a serious doubt after picking up an ankle injury in Yeovil’s 2-0 loss at Brentford on Saturday.

A number of other players were feeling the pace after the opening match of the season, but boss Terry Skiverton is hoping they will recover in time for the Carling Cup first round tie.

“I think Max has turned his ankle and might be missing on Tuesday,” Skiverton told Western Morning News.

“We need to see what the fall-out is with a couple of others.

“It’s what you expect from a game like that in early season. There are a few players with tight legs, but we will get them in for training and see how they react.”

Exeter boss Paul Tisdale has a fully-fit squad to choose from.

The Grecians picked up no fresh knocks or suspension problems during last weekend’s 1-0 win at Rochdale, so Tisdale is unlikely to make too many changes.

Veteran striker Jamie Cureton is likely to keep his place up front after netting his 15th goal of the season against Dale.

A goal against the Glovers on Saturday would take the 35-year-old’s career tally to 200 in the league.

However, he could have a new strike partner with Daniel Nardiello and Marcus Stewart pushing for recalls in place of Richard Logan.

Midfielder Richard Duffy could also start, possibly in place of James Dunne, following his 14-minute cameo last week.

Yeovil boss Terry Skiverton could hand debuts to new loan signings Jonathan Obika and Shaun MacDonald.

Skiverton, fresh from signing a new two-and-a-half year deal, moved quickly to sign 20-year-old striker Obika for the third time following the termination of his loan spell at League One rivals Swindon last week.

MacDonald, who has enjoyed three loan spells at the club previously, has also signed until the end of the season.

Midfielder Paul Wotton and defender Paul Huntington could also be added to the squad to face the Grecians.

Wotton has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury but could return, while centre-back Huntington looks to have overcome a toe problem and will fight it out with Adam Virgo for a starting berth.

Defender Luke Ayling will begin a two-match ban after accumulating 10 bookings for the season.

The Glovers will be hoping to return to winning ways following two defeats and two draws from the last four games.
