Hey Nine,
Hope you and yours are all good sir 🙂
No, I’ve not been participating in discussion forums of any type for a while due to being very busy with work, so there are indeed two Ash’s. Maybe that one is Ash Cole?!
Anyway, you know that the only place I would venture would be here, the home of reasonable debate and in-depth football analysis!
Hi guys,
I thought I’d drop by to share in the disappointment!
Nothing much to add that hasn’t already been said – I agree with Frank that we didn’t do enough and didn’t really deserve more. I am never angry if we are deservedly beaten. However..
Anthony Taylor has hurt us pretty much every time he officiates one of our matches. We all know what happened last time we met the Gooners in this final, and also saw how he killed us at home to Utd this season. The stats bare out this guy’s bias against us.
I have two questions:
1. Is there a Anthony Taylor voodoo doll available?
2. Where do I buy it?Cheers, Ash 🙂
No, not feeling (metaphorically or otherwise) Jo 🙂
I’m very happy that the result of the general election is a clear one. Hopefully we can now leave the division of leave/remain in the past and crack on with building a strong and united kingdom.
Jose will almost certainly play more pragmatically than Poch, and it’s hard not to assume that he’ll improve things from where Spuds are currently at. Jose is a good coach who’s won things everywhere he’s been.
However, it’s a big job to take on, and especially so given Levy isn’t exactly renowned for handing his managers big money to recruit.
It’s going to be interesting.
Like I said Amz, I don’t think trying to class the vast majority of players in any of the top leagues as world class is a very useful exercise.
If you classify being world class as a player like Hazard, Messi, Ronlado, Neymar etc, it is highly unlikely we’d buy anyone ‘world class’ anyway.
It’s good that you recognise Willian’s performances as very good. I’m happy if all of our players are very good!
‘..who ironically called himself Ash..’
That was actually my Mum and Dad’s choice. I was too young to have a say at the time.
Len, you are being a revisionist in saying ‘refuted any argument made’. I have always said that vaping is a huge unknown as far as health goes. At this present time based upon what’s known it would appear to be safer than smoking, and for people like myself who have chosen to use vaping to quit smoking, the majority consensus within the medical profession is that’s a good idea.
However, anyone thinking vaping is ‘safe’ is naïve, the same as anyone who drinks alcohol but doesn’t want to recognise how it harms vital organs.
Jadon Sancho. Then loan him back to Dortmund for the rest of the season.
World class is an extremely subjective phrase, almost as bad as ‘best’.
Imho Kovacic and Willian are both ‘world class’ using my own definition, being that they are currently playing to a standard where they’d make a case for inclusion in most top sides.
I personally don’t want us to make any crazy signings in Jan, assuming we are even allowed to. Athough if we can tie up Jadon Sancho I’d be happy 🙂
mufc – I’m good thanks bro. Hope you are too.
Len – thanks for the (sort of) welcome back mate! I don’t know who to vote for tbh. They are all useless in their own way. Anyway, with the current voting mechanics it doesn’t really matter, as I live in a Tory area. Apologies for the political chat here chaps.
VAR – it’s sh*te. I told my eldest before it was introduced to the Prem that VAR isn’t the problem. It’s how our egotistical idiot FA/ refs choose to contort it into something overly complicated and selective. I was at the recent CL game at the bridge vs Ajax and the ref used VAR to deny us the winner. He used the pitch side screen and made a call. Notwithstanding whether or not one agrees with how handball is treated in the CL, it was the right decision, made using VAR. The English version of VAR is the problem imho.
I was in the MHL. Scenes!! Was like a mosh pit.
I disagree that we wouldn’t have equalised but for the sendings off. At that point we were a Jorginho skip away from 3-4, and we’re piling forward.
I hope everyone here is well and enjoying life 🙂
Len not laughing. Must be serious!
The Boston Friendly
A worthy cause to be associated with, and especially so in light of our negative press on the subject this season.
However, for Abramovich to seemingly put his own agenda ahead of our club’s sporting priorities, and even worse to come away from it with our best attacking player seriously injured, is unacceptable.
I’m embarrassed and angry in equal measures.
So in the context of piss poor scheduling of a FRIENDLY and lack of care towards our prized assets, I agree with Bort. It was a stupid game to have to play.
Cheers Roman. Maybe time for you to sell up and **** off. Our club is not your plaything.
Stuilse
Bravo sir 🙂
Cheers Redblood!
I’m up for a beer bro 🙂
‘..for me: Chelsea are doing the right thing.’
Me too
Roman, I LOVE LOVE LOVE RLC!! (and I don’t care who knows it 🙂 )
For me RLC has been the standout player at Chelsea this season. Back when this forum was getting it’s collective knickers in a twist over CHO, I was saying that even more important for me was our boy Ruben.
However, he’s not a replacement for Eden as such imho. In fact, I don’t really go in for this whole ‘replacement’ ideology.
If Eden goes we simply reassess our team-wide options. It’s possibly more important at this moment to be wooing CHO and RLC to make sure they feel loved imho.
And also, I’m praying that some more of our youth talent is brought in. Mount, for example.
I don’t share the same frustration with Hazard as Roman has.
He’s a sublime player who’s always given his best for Chelsea, and I think it’s his loyalty to us as much as anything that has had him undecided for so long as to whether he’d go to Madrid or not. Let’s face it, based upon level (both of the player and Chelsea compared to RM) he should’ve gone long ago.
It’s been widely reported (as well as alluded to by the player himself) that he’d have gone last season, but agreed with the club he’d stay for one more season, which for me shows loyalty.
He’s one of, if not THE best player in the Prem, and has been for some time. He’d walk into any side on the planet. As such he could’ve agitated for a move way before this point, and even now he’s being very diplomatic and refusing to say anything that distracts from club business. It’s not his fault that at practically every interview he’s asked the same question.
And as for us replacing him with someone better.. lol. That will be a neat trick if we can pull it off.
What I would say is that sometimes a team can become too reliant on a single player, and actually find that their form improves when having to work without that player. Which is not to say I want him to go!
And now for a well worn cliche..
The table never lies.
City are worthy champions. Congratulations to them.
Liverpool fans should be proud of their team’s performance over the season. Both of the top two have been light years ahead of the chasing (flailing) pack.
Tottenham, I suspect, will be a little disappointed not to stay closer. However, a CL final will make the slip to fourth little more than a momentary shoulder shrug.
As for Chelsea, Arsenal and Utd.. all much of a muchness over the season.
Not counting the obvious top two, my team of the year is Wolves.
Zapacosta again very good for me. Intelligent crossing is something we’ve sorely missed this season.
Disappointed to see Willian subbed instead of Pedro, who had a game to forget.
Anyway, a 3rd place finish seems like a troph compared to where we’ve been at times this season.
Zapacosta, for maybe the first time I can remember, really put down a claim for RB.
Last couple of games Eden looks like his head is already in Madrid.
We rode our luck tonight. Hope we play better in the final.
