Irrespective of the result at Astana I hope that the Jonahs on this page can curtail there baser instincts and concentrate on the finer points of the United performance, particularly as there are a number of youngsters who have never played at this level before.

There is nothing more discouraging than a page full of negativity both for the players who read it and those of us with sufficient experience in the football world to recognise that you can’t be winners all the time {SAF’s United were exceptional), and if you can’t be winners, be entertaining.

I am sick of the negativity on the individual topics on this site. I am sick of the foul language used by several posters. It should be possible to make a point, positive or negative, without the sick language used by these individuals. I believe that Teamtalk has lost many good correspondents because of this trait. Surely moderators could do their job and remove expletives before posting.

Before I go for the last time I would like to make the following points re United’s current predicament:
    1. When Sir Matt Busby retired United went through a number of years when success was at a premium. Attendances started to drop. Sir Alex arrived and eventually success returned as did the crowds.
    2. In this day and age of Social Media, trolls, negativity and emotive criticism have become the order of the day and fans are only satisfied with trophy laden boardrooms. That we have been unable to utilise the enormous revenues due to owners who are more interested in profit than our entertainment and success on the field, and a failure to restructure the Club, has fuelled this approbation.
    3. Football is at a crossroads, too much money is being taken out, some by individuals who have no place in the game. The grass roots of football are dying.
    4. I have great faith that United will rise again and am prepared to give my support as long as we play attractive football and eventually the trophies will return.

Given the huge improvement of the team under OGS, with the exception of Lukaku and Sanchez (other experienced players may also be coming to the end of the line), I am all in favour of blooding our own youth and buying under 25’s if necessary. Immediate success is not important in my view. The change in atmosphere in the stadium and on the pitch has validated everything OGS and his team have done to date. Only the overseas curmudgeons, the local depressives and the occasional trolls are apparently still unhappy at our prospects.

‘Macguffin’ – Carrick was a much better player than you make out. He was another strangled by the systems of Moyes, van Gaal and Mourhino. However we all have different views on players. Pogba was on my list for immediate selling, along with Martial, but I am inclined to forgive in view in the huge improvement in form. Were their poor performances deliberate? If not then they do not deserve ‘Best Player’ accolades and if they were I would strike them off a ‘Potential Legends’ list.

One of the significant factors during Mourhino’s reign was the number of near misses we had in games even when we weren’t playing well. Yesterday we had a larger number of near misses than in the previous six games. So it was not just poor defending which caused us problems. I agree that a beast of a central defender, good in the air, reasonable passer of the ball and good defensive organiser would improve us. I hope Woodward makes the right final decision.

Sorry gentlemen, I must have been under the influence with my original post, Giggs was after Moyes. I wasn’t suggesting that he should be brought back now, but if Ole can continue the progress of these three games, I for one would be in favour of giving him a shot at the job.

It has been a breath of fresh air watching his first three games.

    Happy New Year !!

Unchanged team if there are no injuries. At last I have been entertained as I have always expected. There are too many moaners on this site. Give the team a chance under new management. Players who have failed spectacularly in the past twelve months are certainly under pressure and I don’t mean Young, Jones, Smalling…, I mean Sanchez, Lukaku and Pogba. But for the moment, stop the carping and give whatever team Ole puts out full support.

killyboye : the best post I have read on here for a long time. I agree wholeheartedly with what you say. Never has a big club been in so much need of a total clearout and you have identified all the main culprits. I rue the day when the Glazers took over. I rue the day when David Gill relinquished the reins. I rue the day when Jose Mourhino was appointed and I rue the signings which had promise at the outset but have become damp squibs in a tactical fiasco which has destroyed United as the entertainers who most fans wanted to see.

Bad language in posts spoils the read for many fans, bad language in the post title is unacceptable and moderators should delete, please. As I said before to individuals, youngsters read this site and an example should be set.

Let your feet do the talking !
    Sack the Manager now !
It is obvious that several players are playing for out. Let them go.
The club needs a deep clean.

Plenty of effort, quicker passing but obvious that some players were not on the right wavelength. Disappointed with Martial, Rashford needs a goal. He has hit the keeper with low shots all season, crying out for a lob, more practice needed. Still too many hopeful crosses and not very good at that. Can’t see us getting much further in this competition.

Come on redblood and wonderfuel solve the problem of our current crap football club and stop engaging in puerile rubbish.

I have supported United for 71 years and spent some of those hating the quality of the football but I am still here. I believe you can have a humorous conversation and banter without foul language, hate the long-running theme of bestiality but if you can’t do any better – so be it.

Now answer the question – I tried to.

I am pleased that most readers appear to have understood where I was coming from.
(redblood) your outbursts do you no favours particularly when expletive-laden.
We were all born with free will and modern children are more likely to go against family tradition than ever before. That City and Liverpool appear to be light years ahead of us and are without doubt playing far more successful and entertaining football than us might tempt the fourth and fifth generations of the family. Tempt – that is all I was implying.

I would have been far happier hearing the (redblood) formula for improving the current mess against or for my final comments.

The managers bought most of the players.

The huge drop in share price, partially due to performance, should have increased the pressure on owners and directors.

Perhaps the answer is for all season ticket holders to request a transfer to Manchester United Women games.

I know Pogba is a talented player and I thought Sanchez was too. I wouldn’t have bought either of them personally but their average performance level for United (and I know that it can be affected by the players around them) has, in Pogba’s case, been no better than poor and Sanchez has yet to have a good game. Unbelievable!

With attacking intent from the off a win. I would not play Matic or Sanchez. I would play Rashford and Lingard.

Wonderfuel Gas : completely agree re human rights. There will be other potential buyers who wish to buy the Club for footballing and philanthropic reasons and can do so without using Glazer-type methods. Due diligence needs to be applied by the Football Authorities in every aspect of the points I raised vin my original post.

Wonderfuel Gas : I would have liked the sadly deceased owner of Leicester City whose outlook on football in total was admirable. There is no reason why the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia should not be of similar ilk and he presumably would not load the Club with horrendous debt. I don’t know the answer but the legislation which is currently dragging City through the mire, could be widened to include ownership, agents and player contracts – all the things which are making football unlovable.
