Definitely worrying times with emerging reports about an ownership showing little intention of wanting to improve the club further. It does gives the impression that they are seeking for a massive cashout by doing the bare minimum in terms of not engaging in any further high-risk investment that could negatively impact the profits. As such past projects to upgrade the stadium and training ground may very well be an attempt to increase Liverpool FC asset value so in the event that they were to sell, those improvements alone can fetch additional few more millions. If true, they have just make a mockery out of the fans that genuinely believe that they are the right owner that will bring back the old days. Who are we kidding, fsg are businessmen afterall and they are looking out for themselves.

It may be time that Liverpool fans start looking out for themselves and act in their and their beloved club benefit.

No wonder proper fans stop posting on here. Give an alternate perspective and you get shut down and insulted on.

Almost 2 weeks free from football but performance still the same. You can rule out fatigue as an excuse to explain this shower of shite performance. May have to consider the possiblity that the players, especially the defenders, are no longer fighting for the manager. They just dont give a fuck.

Oh boy. Where are the fantasy boys when we need them? The ones who are not interested in reality and would ridicule other fans for stating an unpopular perspective for Liverpool this season, even resort to calling him a manure fan just because he does not share the same views as them. We need their toxic positivity.

Back to reality, I have stated about my concerns for some players during pre-season but eventually chose to shake it off due to pre-season blues after a exhausting 21/22. But it seems like the problems are far more extensive that I have expected. I wasnt expecting many goals since we have a relatively new front 3 and a young midfield but never did I expect that the defense would be so underwhelming. Personally, I think this season is going to be a looonnnggg and painful season. Call me pessimistic but everyone’s body language and attitude is telling. Things are not going to get any better when match fixtures are going to come in fast and furious because of World Cup.

Good to see Nunez has scored during pre season and scored quite a few somemore. No doubt scoring a goal wherever would give a feel-good feeling. Hope he can replicate the same when it matters. Saw some improvement on his first touch but still have the sense of nervousness whenever on the ball.

Im just someone with the tendency to address the white elephant in the room that not many fans would like to talk about. I can go beyond from Nunez but maybe some other time 🙂 Still find it funny as to why im labelled as an anti-LFC fan because of the “timing” i usually post. As after every Liverpool win, there was not much to talk about since 3 points is what matters regardless of how good or bad the team play. So why is there a need for me to regurgitate what is likely to be said by all the other fans.

I will close my argument on Nunez since at the end of the day, all Liverpool fans and a united fan like myself just want him to succeed. Lets see if he will be the next Suarez or the next Keita.

@threeps Totally get where u are coming from. The common consensus is that he is not false 9 type of a player a position which Klopp have been using to win PL, CL and 90+ points. So he is definitely a gamble and a uncertainty of whether he will ever come good. He come across as more of a Origi replacement who we know as good as he is as a impact sub, is not well suited to our overall play style.

“Trolls gonna troll!” I rest my case.

@rob Finally! Thanks for your intelligent response. I evaluated Nunez based on what I have seen other than the 1 hour of friendlies, taking into accounts his past stats at his previous clubs. Where I make a comparison between his past and his current to come up with my take on him so far which do not tally and am curious to know why. Do you think training tapes are good indication of the type of player he will be for us when players are in somewhat of a relax environment with little pressure? Compare between playing during training on friendlies, the latter is slightly more pressurised and will give a more truer indication of who he actually is for us. Which is why friendlies, or i sometimes call them as scrimmages are important and should be taken seriously.

You can easily argue that I may have prematurely judge him but I feel it is neccessary to start this evaluation process from the beginning and on a micro level when we have the time and the leeway to address some of his problems now before the season starts (Whether it is on an individual level when he is unable to acclimatize to new environment which affected his football or on a team level where his teammates have no idea how he plays). Each of these problems will have their different solutions. If the club do not see this as a problem now, it may snowball into greater undesirables affecting everyone such as not winning trophies (For the fans) and prize money as well as unrealised investment loss (For the investors/owners) in him. All of which I believe is not ideal for this club we all love.

This is just my two cent. I have played competitive but not professional sports before and this is why I think the way I did.

Expected nothing less from the usual suspect who cannot accept someone who has a different opinion than them. Even throwing insults just because i dont support Liverpool the way that they do. Already speak volume of the kind of person they are. I am just a realistic (sometimes pessimistic) Liverpool supporter who has a life outside of this forum. So you might want to ignore my comments and any future ones if you cannot understand a simple logic that this is a fucking forum where different people with different thinking can share their different views looking for proper debates. Isnt that what forum is about? If everyone is agreeing with each other, i might as well comment at TIA where only positive and local scouser is allowed to comment.

I admit my opinion is somewhat skewed because of his massive pricetag but is it wrong to feel that way? If u overpaid for a 4 course meal but was greeted with a disappointing appetizer, surely you will be weary as to what is to come for the remainder of the course. But then in such situation I get that different people will react differently (whether you are a half glass full or half glass empty type of person).

I will gladly eat some humble pie after when he proves his worth but till then, I remain reserved and will not jump onto the bandwagon just yet.

P.S HAHAHAHA funny to see that I am already being associated to a fucking manure because of my comments. Why cant people just agree to disagree? Not that i did not justify my reasons for my concerns unlike some guy whose name can be misread as a male genital who would drop a bombshell without explanation, often leave me puzzled as to what the hell is he even going on about.

There are just some things that you can see from a player from the first minute on the pitch to know if he is the right fit. Unfortunately there are just so many wrongs that I do not even know if it is because of nerves or something else. We will likely have a problem here if noone can figure out what type of a striker he is supposed to be.

As a advanced striker, he is not very good at it since he seemed to have some issue with his anticipation even when he is playing at Benfica (Look at the amount of offsides he has). He prefers to run behind defender than to create spaces for others.
As a false 9, well you need to have composure and good ball control to hold up plays and play wingers off which he has not shown so far.
As a target man, you need to be aggressive, cynical and “attack” the ball which I have not seen him do that. Quite surprised to already see him falter couple of times in front of goal. Better hope it is just nerves playing in a new team because things will only get worse when you have to play away from home. Those away game fans will not be as kind to him as those you see in friendlies.

Like I said before, Im not writing him off yet and it is still early days but based on what I have seen him either playing against us and for us, he have alot of catching up to do and will have to put in extra minutes in training and not slack off just because he has some blisters.

Could not believe what im seeing when i saw that people finally get to see how overrated Keita has been since joining. But strangely enough, after 2 pre season games, he actually played okish and was not the worse player on the pitch.
In fact, i want to point out some things that im sure many on here will strongly disagree. Im not convinced with 2 players in particular and they are Jones and Nunez.

The former has been playing with the first team for like 3 years and still have no idea what is he good at. He does not have the physicality to be a defensive player nor the composure/speed to be a winger/box-to-box. This leaves us with only one role and that is the CAM. Even at that position, he often takes more touches than required to do a simple job and is not impactful whenever called upon. With the introduction of Elliot and Carvalho who can do similar and sometimes even more at different positions. I really dont see where he can fit into the team this season.

As for the new signing Nunez, it is easy even lazy TBH to use the ‘new club, new environment’ excuse to rationlise his performance. He was absolutely shocking! Could not even hold up the ball, sloppy on and off the ball, bad positioning (running parallel with the ball carrier, not attacking the ball when in the penalty box) and looking nervous whenever he touched the ball. He even have to pull out from training because of fucking blisters. He is not an academy player and this is not his first senior appearance. Blisters are inevitable and i would expect a pro player like him to already know how to avoid them. I can understand he might have fitness issues as no one club has the same training regime. But seriously, it is like a lifeguard afraid of being tanned, it just makes no sense. Nevertheless, i will still continue to hope he settle down quick and eventually come good for the club. He has alot room for improvement to reach that level.

In typical Liverpool fashion, we ended this season bittersweet. One week we have overconfident fans and players running their mouth about quadruple talk but only to get hit back with some reality check a week later. This is the Liverpool i know who are capable of achieving anything great but also capable of getting ahead of themselves and slipped.

Nevertheless, finishing second in the league and winning 2 trophies is about right to reflect on Liverpool season have gone. 2nd best/consistent team who are just unfortunately marginally lose out to better teams out there. Overall a 8 out of 10 for me

Never believe in the whole quadruple talk. A total unnecessary hype and distraction when u have to rely on other teams to do u a favor. I would believe in the potential cup treble as at least the achievement is completely in Liverpool’s hands and whether how bad the team will do to achieve that. The fact that Liverpool cant even win all their remaining teams and people still wanto talk about winning the league when we are already behind. Haha

The last time i checked 3 points is all that matters. So what more need to be said when Liverpool win a game, be it comfortably or simply just scraped through. Does a fan need to repeat the same sentiments as what is already said by others? It is only through loss of points which is where there are different perspectives one can look at and learn from in order to not commit the same mistakes again.

Amazing depth Liverpool have on the bench, can even afford to have like some privileged secondary school kids have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to sit in the dugout with professional footballers. One of them even get to play some minutes. Liverpool sure have adequate cover at midfield.

On other note, attack wins you games, defence wins you titles.
