Reports suggest that Chelsea might be close to sealing a deal for £500m of Chinese investment to help develop the new Stadium although it is suggested that Roman will retain 100% ownership of the club.

Hi 999, what exactly would the consortium get out from such a huge deal?

Blueowner, if I’ve read it right this is all about getting investment to fund the Stadium how it’s going to work seems a bit sketchy. We do know there is a desire from Chinese companies to invest in football and PL club’s.

Stadium naming rights potentially with great visibility from the air as Stamford Bridge is on the Heathrow flight path could bring in considerable revenues but we really need to see a bit more flesh on the bones if these reports are accurate.

Crucially though seemingly Roman is not looking to sell a slice of the club to anyone so it looks like all this hinges around the Stadium, the build costs and the marketing opportunities and revenues that it might create. .

999 – saw an article yesterday on this and it looks simply as though we want their money – Roman has no intention of giving up any of his holding

Obviously need to wait and see how this pans out but would be good to get outside input for the stadium (which surely will top the original estimate as they seem to in most cases), but more importantly for me the fact that Roman is not giving any indication whatsoever of walking away

BTW – has anyone heard anything at all related to the new ground as it seems to have gone desperately quiet on that front from what I can see. Are we waiting to see if spurs will only stay for a season at Wembley or are we waiting in case their new ground overruns..? KTBFFH

As long as they don’t want stadium naming rights.Stamford Bridge it must stay.

1967, this story seems to be more about funding.

In respect of naming rights whether we like it or not I strongly suspect that’s the way it will go perhaps the “Yokohama Bridge” for instance.

News today on the Stadium suggests that whilst things are progressing one or two issues will slow down the development and opening of the new Stadium until the 2024/25 Season although demolition work will start this summer.

The club have announced to a Chelsea Supporters Group that there will be two more Seasons at the current Bridge until the club move to a temporary home.

There are also allegedly 8 potential interim venues under consideration to house the club until the new Stadium is built.
