Hahaha @blacky mate,I see Dob Balon and Marca are linking United with a £75m move for CR7 next summer, who will be 33 in February! As if we do not have so many past their best players in Young,Valencia,Carrick,Mata,Ibra. Then we have the completely useless players like: Shaw,Blind,Rojo,Jones,Smalling,Herrera,Lingard.

@mac – That link is now two months old mate and nothing has happened with those contract renewals yet, thank the lord!.The report I was referring to was a MEN journalist telling Jose as of today that he should use this two week international break to sort it all out asap,oh really!.
My take is that Mata,Shaw,Blind and Darmian are just not rated highly enough by the manager to justify keeping on any longer and that old man knackerbag Carrick will be living in a tin of dog meat on the pet food isle at Aldi by the end of the season anyway.I’m also now hoping against hope that he has finally realised just how devoid of any real football talent Herrera is as well and he finds someone much better and far more able to play at the level we require, rather than just renew his contract out of blind faith.

@blacky – oops about the link but (if true) shows the intention.

The club has never (to my knowledge) let anybody walk on a free other than veterans and youngsters of course. They will extend all contracts. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t be sold but would seem out of order to extend contract then sell 6 month later. More likely is to sell players whose contract expires in 2019 ie

Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Matteo Darmian, Anthony Martial, David de Gea

    Plenty to choose from there.

I maintain that transfer dealings are dictated more by accountants and asset value than the manager and player performances.

And its cheaper to keep a player on the books than sell and replace. I reckon JM will get a 80m player plus 2×30-40m players with only 2 “deadwood” leaving plus DDG and maybe Zlatan (due to his wages). Carrick will accept a pay drop and stay.

I think the dig Mourinho came out with after the Spurs game about making money for the club is in relation to Felliani. I’ve heard the board are extremely reluctant to offer him a multiple year deal on inflated wages considering his age. There’s no doubt he has been effective in his own way this season but he wouldn’t get in to any other top 5 side in the league never mind a top side in Europe. Just not sure what direction we’re headed in at the moment. Hard to believe after all the money spent we don’t have at least a quality spine to the team.

It seems that contrary to the normal expectations and perceptions, which more often than not resulted in petty and childish squabbles, the majority of contributing posters on more than one thread have succeeded in coming up with one very fundamental base that is considered as the ultimate obstacle to United ‘going the extra mile’.

Money is the name of the game played of course by the owners.

The Mac,once again laid it out very well and truth be said the facts and figures do strike a factual ‘theory’ which wonder of wonders also includes unbelievers this time round.

With the Mac’s scenario I would venture to forecast that Jose will soon be endowed with a renewed golden contract containing a 3 mill increase putting him the top gun among the top guns of management and everyone will live happy ever after.

Words of wisdom from Sir Alex celebrating the treble ; ”enjoy it now because it may never happen again”.

I don’t understand why the blame seems to lie solely on the players with you lot and Jose gets no criticism at all. Yes, I agree that the players don’t help themselves at times but in no way, shape, or form is Jose getting the best out of the team right now.

If a club like leicester can win the league with their squad, if Conte can get a Bolton reject and a Wigan reject to look like world beaters, if Guardiola can make Sterling look half decent, if fergie can beat Arsenal 8-2 with that team then beat them again with 7 defenders and even LvG can mastermind victories at Anfield and the Etihad, then sure as shit Jose can get the squad we have more competitive and entertaining than they currently are.

    Next 5 league games are:

    Newcastle (h)
    Brighton (h)
    Watford (a)
    Arsenal (a)
    City (h)

I’m going for a maximum of 7 points from those games but wouldn’t be surprised if we mess up against either Newcastle or Brighton and draw one of them.

redblood – you have more chance of Blacky not using every expletive under the sun to describe the players he detests in every single post sounding like a broken record than we have of getting 11 points from those 5 games, simple as that.

Get Pogba back and use the next four league games to find the form we had in September and October. Newcastle, Brighton, Watford and Arsenal….we can bully that lot then blitz City with one of those classic Old Trafford nights. Five from five and the title race well and truly back on manthistle…and you can quote me on that.

As always with United….we’re not quite as good as we thought we were but nowhere near as bad as people are saying. Take City’s unbelievable start out of the equation and this is far from a bad start to the season.

@carrick you are right jose should take the blame for some of the mess. Lindelof clearly isn’t ready and when you pay 30 million for a player you expect to play some part in the season I can’t see how lindelof is going to play much this season. I think mendes is his agent and he has had us on this. Mourinho should have at least got rid of one of darmian and blind, smalling or Jones, young or shaw, carrick or fellaini, mata or lingard. Thats potentially 5 players amd I’ve not even mentioned herrera and valencia so yes he is to blame for not being brutal enough. If reports are true that he needs to get rid of some players before signing anyone else then I’m in favour of it. Too much shit players around but jose should have got rid of a lot more than he has.

I read Jose must sell before buying? Ok fair enough ;but You need to back him in the summer!

if Jose leaves due to limited ambition from the board then as far as I’m concerned they will need to be ousted enoughs enough! Twats! This shit can’t go on because quite frankly I don’t know which manager can come in.

They have a box office manager right now f ing tie him down and support him further ffs!

@Manny – The players are carrying the majority of the blame now because they’ve actually been failing under several consecutive managers in case you haven’t noticed, some of them even under Ferguson and a large amount of them under your hero LvG as well!.
It’s time to take your head out of your arse and realise that the ones that are getting stick are doing so because they have played a large part of a general systemic failure at the club that is about to see us go five long seasons without even any semblance of a title challenge appearing, and not even getting a top four place for most of that period.
If I worked in a team that was consistently failing to hit it’s sales targets year on year and had already seen two of my senior managers sacked for gross incompetence then I sure as fuck would know where the axe was likely to fall next!.
You continually defend the indefensible with these guys because to admit that your favourites are actually dog shite after all is not part of your narrative and that will never change,no matter how badly these chums of yours perform week after week after week.
That is not to say that Mourinho is blameless because he isn’t,but two trophies and ECL football again with this shower was good enough for his first season for me for now,and it buys him some time at least until he shifts more of the deadwood than he has done so far. That in my view has been his biggest weakness so far, simple as that.

No worries redblood. I realize it’s only a game ;believe me I tell myself that every game but boy do these players/club take us on a rollercoaster.

I came in late this evening to read yet more negative reports on Jose united nothing changes sigh!

If right now I had the option to round up either the media crew or the players I wouldn’t know who to pick because both deserve a shooting in the crotch!

On a more humorous note moyes is back and lo and behold out comes the ” I have the fourth best win ration in the premier league” this guy is hilarious he used that guff when he took over Sunderland and look where they ended up! I mean what the hell are West Ham owners smoking brains gone to mush!

JM this is where some players need culling to reduce the wage bill further.you have to admit Rooney leaving and a few others freed up some wages

I’m in no doubt money is there bit like the blinking NHS it needs to be distributed appropriately and to the right areas! too much money is being siphoned.

@Tommy – You have obviously been stocking up on strong herbal cigarettes in your absence from this forum since Sunday if you truly believe that this team can even come close to ‘blitzing’ City, even though I would still give us a slight ‘punchers chance’ of winning at OT in a few weeks time.
Of course the return of Pogba will help greatly overall, especially as it should mean the woeful Herrera drops out again but if you actually look into our early season performances even with Pogba included we still struggled to perform well when put under sustained pressure at Stoke and spawned an undeserved result at Southampton. We even failed to put a woeful Swansea team to bed until the last 5 minutes of that match as well,so it’s not just about City’s unbelievable start it’s just as much about our many and obvious weaknesses, simple as that.

We’ll see Blacky…I think our best starting line is strong enough to give City a bloody good game but who knows where both sides will be in a months time. lots of football to be played before then but I don’t think we are half as bad as lots of you are making out whilst at the same time we aren’t as good as I hoped we were earlier in the season.

And you’re a fine one to talk about absences from the forum…the minute we string a bit of form together you’re off to your bolt hole in Lanzarotte quicker than you could sing half a verse of tiptoe through the Kippax Street.
