I like him,and am gutted we missed out on him,but if he’s really unhappy at Arsenal, and wants to leave,I think we should throw our hat in the ring. Last time,he didn’t want to come,as his missus preferred London, but also probably because we had Rodgers in charge (no experience, no trophies won). Now,we have proven quality in charge, who will hopefully win us a trophy, and attract better players in the summer. Maybe Sanchez would be more interested this time around?

@mikus wut?? So if Arsenal want £100m for him, why the hell should we give them an extra £1 and let them earn the extra?

I’d rather make a cheeky bid for Suarez. May be we will be taken over by the Middle East and become as wealthy as Man.City. Then, who knows what will happen.

Scouser, good shout. I think, when FSG sell up,they’re gonna make such a profit on us,hopefully the Arabs take us off their hands when the time comes. I wouldn’t want us to be treated as a rich man’s play thing, but what’s that saying? If you can’t beat ’em,join ’em. We haven’t won the PL yet,and neither did Man City before the Arabs got involved. Maybe we need to follow their example, and hopefully, success will follow

I get the feeling that if he leaves Arsenal it will be to go back to Spain.

If Bayern really sign Sanhez as alleged, it means more possibility of Gotze leaving.

ST an interesting point about a takeover and if that is what we require to finally lift the PL title – Personally, I really hope it isn’t what we need! I feel that’s the same stance as yourself…but I’m feeling like I’d rather not join the Chelski / Citeh oil rich clubs! I know we aren’t exactly ‘poor’ and in recent years have actually spent a hell of a lot of money – but I do like that we haven’t quite reached that level and there is still a (small) sense of reality in our finances and that we are slight underdogs. I’d rather we won the title once in the next decade with a team of loyal hard working players and youth from our academy rather than win it 10 times in 10 years with a squad of mercenary players assembled from all over the world who are happy to sit on the bench for £100k + per week. I can watch real madrid or city etc if I want to see that. Plus, it doesn’t even guarantee success! That all being said, I am a young supporter of LFC who has yet to see us win a title, so I am desperate to feel that sooner than later. ‘there’s always next year’ 😉 p.s. when we do win it, i want it to be in style like the 2013/2014 season would have been, or how I feel Klopp is capable of delivering success. I’d love to see us win the title, but if it was on the end of a season of boring games it’d sour it slightly for me I think

Ian,I’m a young supporter myself mate (31 in December) and I was 4 years old the last time we won the league. Totally agree with your comment on hardworking players vs the mercenaries, but in reality is that realistic? There are bound to be a few players who sign for us in the future who are influenced by money etc. It’s the way the game has gone. I think we will win it under Klopp, and I don’t think we will see many of the ‘mercenary’ type players signed under his managership (assuming he has final say on deals). I just don’t see that happening. If he’d been manager when we’d signed Balotelli, he probably would have said something along the lines of “what,Balotelli? Don’t be so fucking stupid. If you sign him behind my back,I’m gone”. Rodgers didn’t have the balls to fight his own corner, but Klopp sure as hell would. If he’d been manager when Sterling was acting a tool,Klopp would have said ” You don’t want to play for this club,or me? You know where the door is”. On your last point,if we had 38 boring games, won the majority of them, and won the Premiership, I wouldn’t care in the slightest if we’d played boring football. I’d be past caring about how we win it,I’d just be chuffed we had. Ask Chelsea fans if they were bored in 2004,seeing their team win a lot of games 1-0,and going on to win the Premiership for the first time in the club’s history. I doubt they were bothered, and I’d be the same. Give me 38 1-0 wins. I’d take that all day long

S/T nail on the head mate. Agree with pretty much everything you’ve said. However, the thing about mercenaries, is that you know what you’ve got to do to keep them. If you don’t you’re obviously doing something wrong. Look at the world’s best stars. Even Messi has had his fair share of transfer speculation before being offered exorbitant sums of money by Barca. That’s the reality of Football. You have to pay for quality at one point or another. A lot of the “hardworking” players we’ve signed haven’t quite been good enough. They’re still on relatively big wages mind you. If we’re doing the right things as a club both on and off the field then it’s my firm belief these “mercenaries” will look like the most loyal players around. An example: look at how Long Mascherano has been at Barca.

Btw S/T I’m even younger than you are. I’ve never seen us lift a league title. I was born a Liverpool fan because of my dad. If it wasn’t the merchandise, it was my dad telling me about how good the great teams were when we were kicking a ball around. I used to only watch highlights because the games were after my bedtime where I’m from. The first full game I ever watched was when I was 8: Liverpool vs Leeds in 2000 where we lost 4-3. My dad told me this after the game when I asked why we supported the losing team and I’ll never forget it as long as I live. “Liverpool FC is a religion. Even on bad days you still believe.”

Razor, agree mate. To keep the mercenary types, you have to match their ambition,if not, other teams will be only too happy to take them off your hands, and that’s why teams like Arsenal have lost so much talent over the years. The likes of Henry,Fabregas, van Persie, Ashley Cole etc all saw the club were underachieving, and all went on to have success elsewhere instead. Even a relatively good season sometimes isn’t enough to keep your star names (Suarez for instance),so you do need to find other ways to convince players, more money in their bank account being the obvious one.

I remember that Leeds game,Mark Viduka scored 4 against us,it was a real sickener, and then they beat us at Anfield later on that season. But hey,we won 5 trophies that year, I’ll take that for a couple of defeats haha

Won’t disagree with you there. That season has truly memorable moments. Robbie fowler’s wonder goal against Birmingham in the league cup final. I still remember the commentator shouting “Robbie fowler!!! I love Robbie fowler!!!” Owen’s single handed FA cup comeback and that absolute classic against Alaves. Now that was a game to remember.

Great memories Razor. We had such a strong squad that year, not just a team,a squad. We had players on the bench who could come on and win us a game. The strength in depth was unbelievable. Our defence was that good,Jamie Carragher was playing at fullback because Henchoz and Hyypia were absolutely brilliant as a partnership in the middle. Markus Babbel, top defender that we got on a free transfer, ridiculous,we’d have ended up paying about £30m for him now. Great year that
