Ander Herrera is criminally underrated on this forum. Strange that seeing as he otherwise is a firm fan favourite. Speaks volumes about many of the posters on Teamtalk. In terms of skills he’s certainly one of our best players. He also wears his heart on the sleeve, works really really hard, is versatile, always willing to learn and do a job even if it means adapting to a new role. He’s also quite pacey for a midfielder, has great vision and reading of the game. Still, because he’s so loyal, he will adhere to the tactics of the manager, as under van Gaal, and refrain from making offensive passes even though it’s in his nature do make them. With a new defensive midfielder in we will see another Herrera next season, for sure, as this will relieve him of some of the defensive duties he’s had to take on last season. Incidentally, he’s also one of our most vocal players on the pitch, motioning other players to do so and so. And he’s positive! He’s an obvious candidate for team captain and one of the pillars in our team. Cracking player, Herrera is!

Once the season kicks off we all need to get behind players like Herrera. He’s a huge influence on the pitch, great attitude and actually had a fantastic output in every game as well. What a performance against Chelsea last season. Immense!
