I’ve just watched the game Argentina v Brazil from a point of view of looking at some of the players UTD have been linked with.
First off was Nicholas Gaitan, a player that his agent has been trying to get UTD to sign for the past 5 transfer windows. Forget him, whilst he’s definately not UTD material, he’s not even PL material.
UTD have been linked with Biglia an Aregentinian MF with Lazio. He’s 30 whether UTD would want any more players within that age group is another matter, but today he played well and along with Mascherano held the Arg. MF together.
The third player of interest was Paulo Dybala of Juventus. The reports are that he hasn’t settled into the Juve lineup, and that the Juve manager isn’t impressed. He came on with about 15 minutes to go and made a couple of nice moves through the Brazilian defence.
UTD were linked with him about a month ago, but whether that’s true or not we’ll never know. However he showed great potential and could be an excellent player in a couple of years. He’s almost 22.
Now then, I’m thinking that UTD may want to spend money on Dybala (perhaps £30 mill.) than the suggested £130 mill. on Neymar. In other words it may be better for UTD to buy a player like Dybala and make an investment for the future rather than buy a maturer player who may have trouble settling in ie. di Maria.
Dybala could play along side Martial after Rooney has gone to Chelsea, and I’m sure they will give the speed that LvG craves.
