What a performance, these potential players really shone didn’t they? Arsene had his bad signings over the years but our current team boasts on a combination of limited transfer value and even those who had a hefty but reasonable price tag. Bellerin and Coquelin were expected to develop, Coquelin, signed from Stade Lavallois, as late bloomer as he is, is now deservedly earned a spot in the first team or even is one of our key player at the moment whereas Bellerin signed from Barcelona, shone through when given the opportunity, he did hesitate before but since he got than confidence, what a player he has been. What about Ramsey? Signed him from Cardiff City, showed his talent in his early start for Arsenal and although had his difficult spell after being out injured for some time, he’s bounced back and earned the first team spot again for a few years already. Ramsey, when played at the right position always been consistent with such engine.
Moreover we have players signed from their previous respective clubs, Cech, Monreal, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Cazorla, Sanchez, Ozil and Walcott, our current first team players don’t even cost £175 million overall. We hope we can continue to build on these, maybe we can expect to have a top calibre striker up front in Cavani, Ibrahimovic or Benzema but at the expense of Walcott and Giroud who have been doing well at the moment? Whereas Walcott and Giroud, not yet strikers of top calibre but they continue to improve year after year, that must be taken under consideration as well.
I don’t know how we’ll fare in the Champions League, last in the group with 3 points and we still have to challenge Bayern Munich away, that is a tough task but still optimistic of our chances. No I know we didn’t win any title just yet but I just want to appreciate the players and also Arsene for our performance against Bayern Munich, get in there!
October 21, 2015 at 10:15 am #674644Just replying to our young players development as you see it. Yes Coquelin and Bellerin have been immense but the other players you mention are still not producing week in week out. Ramsey shone two years ago ( year of our first FA Cup ) but has been very stop start ever since. Not come near to showing that form again. Walcott while improved still hasn’t a football head. Last night he had a number of opportunities but he doesn’t know what to do, if he has to make a decision the chance is gone, natural forwards know where the ball is going to go or what they are going to do before they even receive it, you can see Walcott pondering about what he should do when he gets the ball. He has been around in Arsenal over 10 years he should know at this stage. Giroud for all his critics is a better striker. He’s not world class but he’ll score more than Walcott given the same amount of time on the pitch. Chamberlain is stop start also though improving.
October 21, 2015 at 10:49 am #674722Bellerin is some player.
October 21, 2015 at 10:58 am #674737howbadcanitget, you should know that Ramsey was played out of position last season, more often as a central midfield that focuses on going forward from the right side, but the season before he was superb at the centre of midfield with the responsibility of going forward into the box.
October 21, 2015 at 1:31 pm #674929This is why people laugh at Gooners. Next loss and it will be Wenger out week.
October 21, 2015 at 1:40 pm #674944GinolasHair, and you know why we don’t laugh at you Tottenham fans, that’s because you are irrelevant.
October 21, 2015 at 3:06 pm #675115Good performance by arsenal and they showed that they do have a plan B.
That is a really strong Bayern team though and on another day it could have been 2-0 to them. Probably the strongest attacking line up in world football and they still have Ribery and Robben to come back. Plus Martinez can’t get a look in. Still need to see Guardiola do it at a club like arsenal before I think you can label him as a top manager. I could get Bayern winning trophies with the players they have.
October 21, 2015 at 4:12 pm #675244It was a fantastic result for Arsenal but hand on heart I suspect that most down to earth Arsenal fans would disagree that fortune was on their side last night.
Wenger is aware of the size of the task that faces them to get out of the Group which at best is probably going to be in second place.
Undoubtedly Arsenal have the capabilities to beat Zagreb at home and win at Olympiakos but Wenger also knows that if Arsenal don’t get something out of the game in Munich which will be very hard they will probably need to go to Greece and win by two clear goals which won’t be easy.
However the most important thing is that after last night’s win Arsenal are still well in it as far as qualifying goes and no matter what good fortune they had they still beat one of the top 3 sides in Europe.
October 21, 2015 at 5:39 pm #675388Simply happy for Arsene and Arsenal.
Gets at least Adrian Durham off their backs (I’m assuming for now lol)!
October 21, 2015 at 5:52 pm #675400Nil, I was listening to Durham last night and he is predicting Arsenal to win the title. Bit of a turn around eh!
October 21, 2015 at 6:03 pm #675406Yeah man 😀 Peterborough must be a smokescreen – he loves Arsenal really 🙂
October 22, 2015 at 7:49 am #675718Deluded Woolwich Nomads..Wenger out next week.
October 22, 2015 at 9:15 am #675928Jimmy, if we’re deluded, how about your own set of fans (Tottenham fans) then?
October 22, 2015 at 1:26 pm #676393Lose one game, and you will all be calling for him to go….
October 22, 2015 at 3:45 pm #676612Jimmy, not me, I’m not one of them, you can check my consistency also in Arsenal FC fans forum discussion with the topic “Arsene Wenger, has been and still the best the best man for the job.”
October 22, 2015 at 4:03 pm #676654People always get it twisted. How many times do I have to clear this up?
Arsenal fans don’t keep going back and forth between Wenger in and Wenger out. Majority of us appreciate everything he’s done for the club and would never dream of pushing him out. The minority (possibly majority on this site) though, seem to pipe up every time we lose, demanding he goes and making the rest of us look bad in the process…
October 24, 2015 at 12:12 pm #678862So when Arsenal parks the bus it’s brilliant counter attacking display but for others it’s boring negative football. 30% possession at home, lol. And why are you celebrating as if Arsenal have won the champions league. First goal was flukey, second goal was poxy as Bayern had overcommitted. You will be harping on about this for weeks, but still could go out at the group stage
October 24, 2015 at 12:27 pm #678886Martial art did you not just start a thread saying English teams need to do better in Europe and now you’re on this thread criticising arsenal for getting a good result in Europe?
Did you just start the other thread for a bit of a laugh?
October 24, 2015 at 12:35 pm #678892Jay belfast – It’s that I am tired of Arsenal fans criticizing others team style of play (notably Mourinho’s Chelsea). It’s great to see EPL team beating a giant. Well done Arsenal. And what a great decision by Chelsea to sell Cech 🙂
October 24, 2015 at 8:53 pm #679516Lmao, martialart – what a clown. How did we park the bus if we had more shots on target? How do you work that out? Bayern of course will have more possession, it’s not like we never crossed the half way line like some teams do. Just stop talking, stop with the hate and give Arsenal credit. I would have done exactly the same for Utd, by the way.
