I dont think anyone can be dropped maybe alternated but then again Conte does not appear to favour that too much, however there is a problem at the back with losing so many aerial balls maybe it could be we dont really have a very tall central defender.
February 6, 2017 at 3:28 pm #1431026I said this when we started using playing “Spread the height out” Switch Azpi and Cahill around from: moses, azpilicueta, luiz, cahill, alonso -> moses, cahill, luiz, azpilicueta, alonso.
February 6, 2017 at 4:11 pm #1431052I was expecting 3 points from these 2 weeks and we got 4 points. (I did not see the match against Liverpool though, I read that we had a penalty miss). For me: it’s really not bad. And what a goal from Hazard, a candidate for the goal of the season. And Courtois: for those who want him out due to the persistent rumors. 2 world class saves. I think we should try to keep Courtois and Costa at any price. Losing them, we’ll risk to get an inadequate replacement.
I just hope the squad can keep their feet on the ground and keep winning.February 6, 2017 at 5:00 pm #1431097Bluepylon, I think you can expect that Conte will have the same concerns as some of us in here has. He’s one of the biggest perfectionists in the game – and thank god for that! Because it’s exactly one of the reasons why we are top of the table if you ask me.
Chelsea.man, CFC1905 has a valid point. Because the latest goals oppositions has scored against us have come from the right side of the defence. I could easily see Conte slot Zouma in for Azpi and the latter will take Moses’ place. Especially against the “top 4” teams. As Liq also states, it has something to do with the height of both Moses and Azpi, their aerial ability, or lack of, is something opposition teams could use against us in the upcoming fixtures.
But besides the above I really felt that the whole team stepped up against Arsenal. Thankfully I didn’t have time to “burn” the players in here after the Liverpool game! LOL!February 6, 2017 at 5:07 pm #1431099And btw has anyone seen Tip Tap Twat???
February 6, 2017 at 6:36 pm #1431117I think he must have Tip Toed away until people have forgotten how inferior we made them look on Saturday. Maybe he will come back saying we are purposefully targeting head injuries on our opponents as it has happened in the last two games at the Bridge. There are no stones he will leave un-turned in trying to drag our name through the mud.
February 6, 2017 at 6:58 pm #1431127Ha! Good one Liq! Are we sure that Tip Tap T#€#€ is not Syd in disguise? Cause sometimes he sure as h.. sounds very much like him!

February 7, 2017 at 8:35 am #1431363Personally I think we have to find room for Zouma assuming he returns to full fitness. I believe that he adds another dimension to the team and would be a great asset at the back
Have to say that for me Moses has gone of the boil for some time in terms of his attacking. As a whole, the team we play is great and obviously sitting sat the top of the table looks as though it should not be touched. But hand on heart we all know that Arsenal had chances and we should be looking to restrict those especially when we step up another level in the CL football
I totally agree that Dave cannot be left out so if the decision was mine then I would replace Dave with Zouma and then replace Moses with Dave
That provides us with cover and the ability to rotate a bit more if required when we have more of these games. not saying it would work as not everyone is capable of playing in a back 3 but I do feel that it is something we have to consider based on where the goals are (predominantly) coming from..? February 7, 2017 at 8:54 am #14313701905… I think you’re right in what you are alluding to. This team is fantastic when on song. We are clear at the top. But, yeah… Something is missing when we step back into the champions league.
I also think that the last two seasons we have seen the quality of the premiership exposed. I have to say that the quality of opposition simply isnt there. United, Liverpool, City adn the goons simply are not up to the task. Essentially, if you have a goalscorer and organisation – you’ll win the league. Given what has been spent by our rivals, our own expectations for just mounting a top four challenge at the start of the season, we’ve bettered our wildest dreams to date. Long way to go but im confident we wont drop too many points between now and the end of the season.
Dream singing for me would probably be neymar/ Bale. Him and hazarad on each flank. That would give this side some extra magic when needed.
February 7, 2017 at 8:57 am #1431372Moses has gone off a bit as far as attacking is concerned though he is doing well defensively, personally though they have all plenty of good moments (Moses, Pedro, Willian, etc.,) I believe we will have to add quality in a few areas if we are to challenge the likes of Barcelona, Bayern, Real and the Manchester clubs as they will also spend and improve
February 7, 2017 at 10:10 am #1431404There’s clearly a bit of a weakness to the diagonal ball delivered from the right Zouma when fully up to speed would solve that with Azpi moving to right wing back which although tough on Moses would probably strengthen us defensively too.
But it’s Conte’s call and I trust him to make the right one.
February 7, 2017 at 11:41 am #1431455Guys I think you are being overly critical here. Since the 26th November we have conceded 8 goals in the league. 3 to Spurs, 1 to City which was a fluke own goal, 1 to Liverpool, 1 to Arsenal and 2 to Stoke.
3 of those goals in two matches have impacted on points 2 against Spurs and 1 against Liverpool.
With the exception of Stoke those teams along with ourselves make up the top 5 of the EPL!!!!!!
The Stoke game was at the end of a gruelling December set of fixtures of 6 matches in 28 days.
Also if you factor in the amount of playing time Moses has had this season and the amount of ground he covers and the pace he has yes he will be slightly jaded.
I imagine that could be part of the logic of bringing back both Ake and Kennedy in the hope that he may be to facilitate more 75 and 80 minutes of football for Moses and Alonso as well as working with these young lads to see if he can bring them up to the standard we need for cover next season.
February 7, 2017 at 12:10 pm #1431471NiBlue the point we are trying to make is that we are losing most of the aerial balls that come from crosses on defence mainly but also on attack, we have been lucky in that most of the headed balls won by opposition have either gone off target or to a lesser extent saved by Courtious so that is an area of concern and why probably Conte was looking at bringing in your taller type of centre halves at the beginning of the season.
February 7, 2017 at 12:49 pm #1431486NIB – will not disagree with you that if you take the league position and look at the stats then the obvious conclusion is that we are the most consistent team in the league and deserve to be on top – so why change anything…?
I accept that I maybe very critical here but we all know that the likes of City and ManU will spend and to be honest you have to expect Arsenal, Liverpool and probably Spurs to do the same so we cannot just stay static and hope it all works out
We must look at age, goals conceded, cover for vital roles and generally see what we need to do in order to remain on top and then look to step up a level for the CL (plus any players who may potentially depart)
In that respect it is my opinion that we have a weakness at the back that has been exposed already and so could easily be again. I also believe that we have an internal solution that could save us millions in the transfer market. Yes, it is harsh to think that one of the current team may have to make way but that is football – a forever changing dynamic as we strive to improve
I am not saying I have all the answers, far from it, but this is an observation that I am sure that Conte has already identified. In the end it is his decision to make and based on the evidence to date, I am sure he will make the correct call as and when he needs to. KTBFFH
February 7, 2017 at 1:47 pm #1431516NI Blue – I get what you are saying but the fact that two great saves and a glaring miss stopped Arsenal scoring four headed goals against us on Saturday, will not have been lost on Conte, although interestingly the goal came when Zouma was on the pitch. In all other respects we were very good, and my guess is that he wont make any changes, but if we were to drop points in a game we shouldn’t, due to this particular vulnerability, I am sure he would address it.
February 7, 2017 at 1:52 pm #1431521What were the two great saves, and also think Courtious could of done a bit more to keep their goal out.
Liquid your post mate make it seem we were lucky to win, we battered them and only lapses up front stopped it being more.February 7, 2017 at 1:55 pm #1431527I almost 100 per cent agree with the liquidator although I think Conte is so singled minded that if he feels there is a problem to be solved he will solve it sooner rather than later.
His quandry is should he bring in Zouma and move Azpi to right back he might solve a defensive problem but create an offensive problem which is Moses strength.
I guess we all have to trust Conte to decide what’s best he’s not go too much wrong so far .
February 7, 2017 at 3:40 pm #14315711905,
For me firstly Zouma has to earn his place back and secondly has to come in for a like for like swap.
The only player I would think about swapping for Zouma right now is Cahill because it would be a like for like swap. If you remove Luiz, you lose passing from the back, if you remove Azpilicueta from the middle and put him at Right Wing Back, you lose the press and if you take out Moses you lose the “running at the opposition fullback” wing play.
