Given our issues in front of goal and the fact that Bamford is to end his nightmare spell at Palace. Anyone else think we should give him a shot in the first team? Falcao is a flop and Bamford can’t be any worse. Remy isn’t getting a chance and looks like he could be leaving in January, leaving us short in the striking department. So maybe Bamford should be retained and given a first team opportunity.

nothing to lose, Remy may leave, Falcoa is no good any longer and always seems to be injured which I find rather strange considering he never plays, hopefully Costa is back to form with Bamford as his back-up I think its a good idea, this area is our biggest weakness though there are other areas as well where Hiddink needs to find solutions

hear hear, good news ! Bamford will get some minutes I believe, he is badly needed at Chelsea as we have no reliable backup. It’s good for him and for Chelsea. Hope he’ll be a future star for Chelsea

According to his quotes Bamford is frustrated with sitting on the bench so without he starts over Costa which would be a very big call by Guus there’s every chance he will go out on loan again to get some regular football and not from off the bench.

999 – I know he’s frustrated but maybe if he’s at his actual club on the bench given opportunitits off the bench perhaps he’ll be happy with that until the end of the season. Plus if he starts scoring, then who knows he might get a chance. Kane was in a similar position at Spurs.

Lee, I said I would have given him a go in the summer as a back up striker.

If he and the Club are happy with that, there are no strikers in the pipeline under negotiation and it makes sense for both I’d give him a go but he needs minutes on the pitch consistently.Cheers 999

Mixed feelings here….would really love to see Bamford make the grade, but the question that will always be in the back of the mind is “Why did he not make the grade at Crystal Palace?” Especially when we know, despite his success, there have been questions about his work rate at other clubs.

Maybe if he is given the chance he will work hard, but given the choice I would have preferred to be on this site questioning the logic of sending Bamford on loan because he was giving Vardy a run for his money, but the trend seems to be again questions over his work rate!!

With Remy & Falcao vying for the sicknote of the year award we need to get a striker in asap. Could do worse than offering Remy and cash for Austin!!

NIBlue, yeah good idea! I did not think about Austin, but he was lethal last year. And he would be very happy to play again in the Premier League. I really fancy Ighalo, but Watford are flying high, they would not let him go.

I appreciate the romantic notion is for Bamford to return to Chelsea and prove what an excellent striker he is but the reality is that he did well at Boro but for one reason or another did not get a look in at Palace at all

The big question is why as Wickham has not exactly set the place alight with his goals either so IMO there is a clear underlying reason (and especially when people are waxing lyrical about the work that Pardew has done and even whisper his name as a potential England coach…?)

I may be wrong, and like another poster has said that maybe we have nothing to lose (apart from games of course) but for me Bamford will not make the grade at Chelsea and I see him going back to Boro or I see that Swansea have been linked with him…? KTBFFH

Give Bamford a chance. I would send Falcao back to Monaco and give Bamford a chance. He should of course know that he’ll start from bench when Costa is fit. I believe he should grasp this opportunity in a heart beat, to show to his beloved club what he can do.

Agreed he could probably do no worse than Falcao but is that as far as our aspirations go…? KTBFFH

aindro, if only it was as simple as send Falcao back to Monaco and give Bamford a chance.

Putting Bamford to one side we have a season long loan agreement with Monaco and without there is a break clause in it which is doubtful why would Monaco want to take back a non firing and now frequently injured Falcao and pay him £150k a week and that’s before we get into whether Falcao would actually be prepared to return to Monaco in January!

999 worst come to worst: Falcao stays and we pay his salary. That’s the agreement anyway last summer I believe, we loan Falcao for a year. But there’s no clause that says that we should play him.

I believe should Falcao stay: Bamford should still be given priority ahead of Falcao. He is younger, a Chelsea player and could be part of Chelsea’s future.

How many times are we going to keep moving the goal posts every time a youngster is begging to get a chance here.Bamford was on a crest of a wave loaned M’boro but doubting Chelsea insisted he was still too green to be of use to us and instead felt more comfortable taking a chance on ‘a clapped out has been’!.I would love to be a fly on the wall eavesdropping on the club telling Bamford that he was being ‘bombed’ out again to accommodate a very ineffective and insipid Falcao…it should matter not that Falcao was once the bees knees and much sort after a few seasons ago,he’s clearly not the same player now as loan stints with Man.Utd and now Chelsea are proving!.So we might be lumbered with Falcao for the full season I don’t think there’s anything in writing that Bamford shouldn’t leap-frog him in the pecking order.

I have an idea! Why not loan him out to give him some experience, then he can come back next season and push for a place in the first team!!

I’ve got an evrn better idea Syd which is you stay off the Chelsea site with your nonsensical mumblings otherwise you will end up getting banned all over again for making a nuisance of yourself AGAIN on another clubs site!

mtal, it’s Guus’s call now and if he thinks Bamford can do a job for us now he will stay. Allegedly Guus is looking to include Atsu in the squad from this month. We shall have to wait and see on both?

why not include both Atsu and Bamford as back-ups to Costa, Remy will probably leave in this window and Falcao he does not even exist. Texeira is more than certain to come in this window but even though his scored more goals than games his an attacking midfielder not an actual striker.

mtal61 – why do you say we keep moving the goalposts…?

We have a load of players on loan or still at Chelsea. Those on loan are expected to go and prove that they are capable of joining the first team squad. Who makes that decision – well I would assume the manager and possibly in conjunction with Emanelo (spelling..?) as his role includes the scouting and follow up of players (I assume)

At the time someone decided that Bamford had done well enough at Championship level but possibly then needed exposure to the EPL. At the same time Jose felt he could get something out of Falcao and I presume had to provide his logic to the board to get them to sanction the move (as well as decide to keep Remy whom he hardly used the season before)

At the end of the day it is a judgement call made by those in situ at the time. Whether they were right or wrong will always be hard to decide or agree upon. You feel the youngsters should be given every opportunity ahead of buying players. I am not so positive on that and feel that the youngsters must prove themselves at the highest level unless we have a real outstanding talent – and for me, Bamford does not fit that bill

But again, that is our opinions and exactly what the manager (and whomever else) has to decide upon and then live (or die) by that judgement call. KTBFFH

Moos – for some time the fans have felt that both Bamford and Atsu were good players who looked as though they may have a future at Chelsea. However, neither player has done well enough that the manager at their respective loan clubs feel any desire to include them in their teams on a regular basis

So, why should that be any indication that they should then be included in the Chelsea first team squad at the expense of other players…? KTBFFH
