Well, last night we saw exactly what Jose will bring to the Bridge next weekend. A monstrous A380 which will be wheeled out and parked on the SB turf. 150 million pounds invested in talent with a 6-3-1 formation deployed for away days against decent opposition. Why should we fear Utd? Play like we did against Leicester…there’s no reason why we cant win. Utd are hardly going to come at us all guns blazing and batter us. It will be 10 men behind the ball, squeezing the space and hoping to nick a goal on the break. Posters were previously hoping for 2 points from 6 against Leicester and Utd. Sod that for a game of soldiers…lets get all six please.

Problem is Conte might have the same ideas, look at how we started against Liverpool at home and the arse away.
Hope with the new system though we do go at them

Tough game no matter how United set up.

Last night had Ibrahimovic not fluffed his header United would have probably gone home with all 3 points.

Be interesting to see whether Conte brings back Willian and Terry for the United game.

Firstly I hope Jose gets a very warm reception at the bridge at the weekend.

Secondly we can take nothing for granted. Jose knows our team inside out, he knows their likes dislikes and strengths and weaknesses and I would say as well if not better than Conte.

Conte knows he will be under pressure to ensure that we do not suffer a third defeat to another genuine title contender and again Jose will be extremely aware of that.

What will be interesting will be who Jose plays on Thursday night!

Bottom line it is going to be another stern challenge for us so I hope the players are all up for it!

NI Blue, United’s squad is strong and wide and I suspect it will be a squad team selected v Fernabache not bearing too much relevance to the team Mourinho will select on Sunday.

999… I think this will be the best time to play untied. As you’ve alluded to, theyre in action in the europa and there is always some form of hangover with players after a european week. Best tim to face them imo… A tough, tough game ahead.

We have a poor record at the bridge…i dont know. I think it will be so tight. 1 things for sure. United fans are the loudest and best away fans youll see at the bridge. our songs are brilliant!!!

Personally i think we shouldn’t get carried away. yes we are having a bit of a good Month in October after that rough September. but we should be wary about the quality that United possess. i’m expecting a mouth watering clash regardless of their Anfield clash. probably Mourinho is clever and he will bring back Rooney in to the starting line up and he tends to have good game every time he faces. if we get Terry straight back to the line up, then i think we have someone to deal with the threat of Ibrahimovic especially in the air. i think the form of Costa and Hazard will give us case for optimism. i would like us not to lose that game, we are in a fantastic position. go for the win and be cautious not to go all guns blazing.

Agreed that I hope Jose gets a good reception. If I was Chelsea I would give him a pre game award so that the fans can show their appreciation then rather than during the game. Then the love is over when the game kicks off

We should know Jose’s tactics by now and although they have been roundly criticised for the tactics on Monday if Ibrahimovic had scored and they had won then Jose would have been deemed a tactical genius as he was when we beat City away on a Monday evening a few seasons ago…?

They will sit deep and will look to take us on the break. They also have a game, albeit at home, on Thursday

As for Chelsea, I think that Conte has learnt from the mistakes we made against Liverpool and Arsenal and has now settled on a formation that appears to suit us better with players acknowledging that as well – which can only be good overall. It will be interesting to see if he makes many changes for the game but we have over a full week to prepare for this game and based on our performance against Leicester I also agree that we have a very good chance of beating them

We just need to believe in what Conte is asking of the team and stay fully focussed. If we could take 3 points then we have daylight already between them and us. KTBFFH

This is our biggest game yet, on the back of the Leicester performance and result, expectations are rising that Conte has found the secret sauce. Utd will be a completely different proposition to Leicester, and will no doubt set up not to get beaten first and foremost which challenges our ability to open up a well drilled defensive team for the first time under Conte.

On a normal occasion I would back us to win this, but the Mourinho factor worries me. He will be burning up inside to come back and try to prove to everyone at the we Bridge were wrong to boot him (which we certainly were not). He know´s our squad inside out, particularly their weaknesses and has been a master of getting an away result in his career. Expect it to be tight, us to have most of the ball and Utd to look to counter, defensive concentration is paramount to us getting a result, cannot afford another Cahill blunder as they have quality going forward.

Whatever happens, i´ll just be pleased that as Chelsea fans, we´ll only be forced to watch Mourinho´s dull, tedious football twice this season. The man does deserve recognition for his tremendous achievements with us, but my word i´m glad he´s gone.

    here here
somebody calling for a pre game award for Mourinho, why exactly.
He was well rewared for his career at Chelsea and while I will agree on his first tenure and the success he brought in, well the rest will always have a sour bitter feel and glad he is no more at Chelsea whatever the future brings.
Also, how anyone can laud what was dished up on Monday gone is beyond me.

Agreed with most of the posts. Sunday will be tough and Jose will no doubt have the Utd lads fired up. But im not sure I agree that Jose knows our players and setup intimately. He used to but things have changed. The broken sorry rabble that he left behind are no more. Increased confidence levels, improved form, a completely new formation deployed by a different gaffer utilising different tactics are what he will face. Jose will have his hands full and Conte will have our boys equally if not more motivated. It’s essential that JT starts. And we will probably need the work and industry of Willian too. Another thing…i have been super impressed with David Luiz since his return. Good to see we have him as a free kick specialist option as well. Utd do have a game Thursday and I can’t see Jose selecting a 2nd string 11. Rooney will start on Thursday..not sure he will be selected against us two days later. My preferred starting 11. Courtois, Azi, JT, Luiz, Alonso, Willian, Matic, Kante, Hazard, Moses, Costa.

Sorry Stuilse but apart from Kante and Alonso, Jose has worked with all of the starting 11 you have mentioned and potentially up to half of those who will be on the bench, most of them he has had the guts of two and a half seasons of working with (again due to the failings of our transfer policies).

He has been in their heads and made winners out of many of them. He knows what makes then tick and he knows how to lite their blue touch paper.

As for tactics, no matter what formation we play or tactics we use the one thing that we as Chelsea Supporters are well aware of there is no one better than Jose at closing a game down.

There will be a few of the Chelsea team wanting to do a number on Jose, but it is paramount that our guys remain calm and stick to our game plan, especially Costa as the last thing we need is to go down to 10 men.

I also hope that David Luiz is putting in plenty of practice on free kicks as a set piece is one way we could unravel Joses approach.

BluePylon – the idea of something pre match is simply to allow the fans to express any thanks or gratitude that they have for Jose so that it is done and dusted before the game kicks off. Nothing more. KTBFFH

I would be disgusted if any Chelsea fan does not give Jose not just a good reception, but a great one, great like he made Chelsea great when he joined!

Amz, we all see things differently. To me, no matter what Jose has done for us in the past (the good and the bad) he is currently the manager of the enemy and should be treated no different than any other opposing manager that walks into the Bridge. Pre-game or otherwise.
When Jose retires and wants to pay Chelsea a visit then by all means roll out the red carpet, but for now all attention should be on making the bridge as intimidating to Man United as possible, and signing songs about how great Jose is will certainly not achieve that.

I have no doubt Mourinho will get a great reception at the Bridge on Sunday, and so he should, as the club’s most successful ever manager. However, once the KO whistle goes, the hostilities begin, as I am sure will be the case. Ultimately its about creating a hostile atmosphere for the opposition and putting pressure on the referee, and we are well capable of doing that!

I think it’s important that Chelsea fans give good reception to our most successful manager so far. And it will be a very difficult match, I can see we’ll try to have the possession but would not be able to create chances as Man Utd will defend deep (like against Liverpool, like Mourinho as always) and probably hit us on a counter.
Rashford is very quick, gladly Zlatan is not that quick but Zlatan is a proven finisher.

Our game against Leicester was really excellent, but Man Utd are in a different level. They have expensive players in Pogba, Zlatan etc. Let’s hope we can win this match, but I reckon it’s either 1-0 or 0-1, for us or for them or a 0-0 boring draw.

when and if Mourinho returns to Chelsea as a guest and not a manager of any other club then fine have the award sing his name, whatever it takes to aknowledge what went before.
But not Sunday, afterall was it not he who refused the opportunity to sign a Chelsea shirt as he was now the Manure manager.
