One think I have noticed is our midfielders staying back when we are attacking….. we used to have box to box midfielders that will pop up in the opposition box and score goals.. can remember one Franky Lampard…. if you look at our current set up, there’s only the striker that’s usually in the box and the opposition defenders easily deal with him. we need to be brave and push Kante or Baka and either Willian or Pedro to populate the oppositions’ 18 when we are attacking. I like the idea of playing 2 strikers especially against weaker oppositions and have one defensive midfielder. they say the best defense is attack and that’s what City is doing right now… not always effective but yields lots of results especially against weaker teams.

I think Bort is right, both Rudiger and Christensen are better all round players than Cahill. I was clearly frustrated how he disrupted our play from back. This 3 at the back formation needs players who are comfortable with the possesion but who are also equally comfortable when defending from wide areas. It seems Cahill lacks that balance whilst both Rudiger and Christensen have that.

As for our attacking midfielders, Pedro isn’t good when he is on the ball. But he compensates that with good positioning. He makes good runs behind the defenders where Fabregas can find him. But his finishing lets him down sometimes. Willian is neither good finisher nor makes good runs. He likes the ball on his feet. But he doesn’t do enough when he has apart from trying to dribble all the way in to the goal. Bort is very right again. Most defenders pay attention to Hazard thus giving him and Pedro more room.

Nothing is impossible in sport. With Sanchez we will be able to match the Manchester teams fire power. I’m certain that if that chance which Pedro missed against Arsenal has fallen for Sanchez. We would have been 1-0 up. Look ! Quality overrides age factor sometimes. A front trio of Hazard, Morata and Sanchez will be the best attack.

we will never know whether Sanchez might have scored or not as he is not a Chelsea player and I doubt if he will ever be one. but I agree with you Wise Fan… about Cahill and I believe the other 2 are better suited to the position but no doubting Cahill’s qualities as an excellent defender as well, it’s all about the tactics deployed by the manager.

I think the wise-fan attack on Willian reminds me how Norwayman used to bash Mikel some few years ago. Personally i’m a massive fan of Willian as he brings more than goals. Those who say Willian has no end product should think twice. Last season he had double figures in goals. And this season we have only played 6 games only and people are already questioning Willian. I will reserve my judgement until the new year. Let us hope we have Hazard as soon as possible.

If Maherz had a shocker last season. So was Hazard in 2015/16 season after winning the PFA the previous season. I don’t see any difference between them. Why judge one player for the poor season he has had and yet exempt Hazard. Maherz will contribute more than Willian that is certain. Here is another added appeal. He is a left footed player. And when was the last time we had a left footer in our attack? The days of Robben? No Malouda in top form 2009/10 season. He is ab excellent palyer. Heard Leicester were demanding £50m, actually that is a bargain in a market where Ox is worth £40m.

    whoscored.com

Rating in the premier league last season:

    Willian 6.89
    – 8 goals
    – 2 assists

    Pedro 7.13
    – 9 goals
    – 9 assists

Willian was our worst attacking player by a long way.

Wise fan. Sorry chap, ain’t going to agree with you on mahrez, there’s a reason clubs didn’t want to pay over the top for him this summer and it’s also been shown in his last three seasons. One stand out campaign and two full of rotten eggs.

Willian has 19 goals from 133
    Mahrez has 30 from 127

Can you see mahrez doubling up on a fullback? Going all out for 90 mins up and down the flanks and defending?
Can’t think of a mahrez tackle that’s stands out.

Stick rather than twist until the end of the season.

Wise fan, I’ll be brutally honest, I really am not a fan of Pedro. His miss on the weekend is pretty much why I am not a fan. He wastes far too much and runs around a bit like a headless chicken for my liking.

But, he is a blue. Tries his hardest and I can’t fault his professionalism. Unlike Costa.

Mahrez has more talent than Willian…that’s it. Willian is stronger, works harder, is far more of a team player, is more disciplined, is more loyal, has less ‘attitude’ and his head is less likely to drop when up against it. Case in point…when Leicester almost got relegated Mahrez was continously linked with moves away and his performances were awful in comparison to his title winning campaign. Willian experiences the same dire Chelsea season…but he knuckles down and ends up being one of our best players. Give me Willian any day.

Zizi – that’s why I am looking for Bakayoko to get regular games. No idea if he has the scoring capability of Frank but I do believe that he has the ability to go box to box and his driving runs will lead to opportunities or goals

do not understand why we persist with Fabregas…? KTBFFH

Seeing as we are dissecting the squad, I thought I’d offer up my opinions on a few players:

Rudiger – not sure why people are saying he is a better player than Cahill as to me he has looked pretty shaky. But it’s early days, so let’s give him some time before passing judgement.

Bakayoko – looks to be a brilliant signing. Strong on the ball, and wins the ball back well.

Willian – not a massive fan, works hard but delivers little end product. Plays the occasional blinder but not often enough. I think he tries to play in a similar style to Eden (retain the ball, dribble rather than pass) but doesn’t have the skill.

Pedro – had a very average first season with us, but since then I think he has been quality. At least he is not afraid to shoot, which has been the problem with some of our players. Would start him over Willian all day long, but I still think it’s an area of the pitch we can upgrade.

Fabregas – I’m a big fan of his and you can’t deny the quality he has. I think the main problem with Cesc is finding him a role in our current team.

Morata – A good, but not spectacular start to his Chelsea career. Clearly a quality player, just needs to get used to the league and our tactics. I have no doubts he will come good, and I think he will benefit from having Hazard back in the team.

Dave, Kante, Eden, Luiz, etc. All speak for themselves really. All in all I’m happy with the squad, I don’t think there is any area where we are particularly week.

Maherz is better than Willian and your stats suggest that. both players like to dribble but the difference is one likes to go all the way to the goal whilst the other dribbles wisely. besides that last season was the best season for Willian as he got 9 league goals. that is in-contrast to Maherz who got 17 in their title winning campaign. i think with him playing with the quality we have in Fabregas and Hazard. i believe he would match or even better that tally. i see no reason why we should play Maherz in a defensive position in the first place. as we have wing-backs to do all those stuff. you said the attitude problems. all top players have attitude players. didn’t Hazard said he would welcome the offer from PSG on the eve of our CL clash with them on February 2016? top players would always attract interests.
