Game over b4 half time. Bring on the kids. Willian has been majestic. Cescs passing brilliant. Pedro looks sharper. Yes it’s only Hull but we almost lost at home to Norwich a few weeks ago. Least our form is on the up. And I reckon Conte has some selection posers to mull over b4 Barca. For me Willian has to start. Oh Giroud grabs his first and our 4th. Could be ugly.

Wow. Hope that Conte will play Morata to give him match sharpness. And agree to play the youngsters now. Substitute Giroud, Pedro and Cesc to give them rest

I know it’s only Hull but I challenge anyone to moan about that first half.😊
CMan, sadly Cahill missed the 2012 Final with a hamstring injury.

I remember he has played against Spurs isn’t it? and he has received the medal i hope? and didn’t he score against a team i can’t remember and then paid tribute former Bolton team mate who collapsed a day before? i think the Commentator got it wrong.

    Antonio ! Antonio ! Antonio ! Antonio! Antonio ! Antonio ! Antonio ! Antonio !

You have to admire the support that the match going fans gave to Conte tonight. the whole stadium was chanting with his name tonight. massive support for him. i think he should have that in his mind. Roman please don’t ignore the wish of the fans please.

I have asked this question a few times with no response. When was the last time Roman Abramovich was sighted at a Chelsea match? Any thoughts on why the long absence? He certainly appears to still be making the big decisions when called upon so he is not totally missing in action. Could though his love affair with the game and club be waning slightly? Of course only he knows that answer but still it is something that has crossed my mind since Chrsitmas and the January tranfer window in which we were pretty damn quiet.

May be not because he would have sold the club if he felt like that. and let us not forget that Roman is a business man, and there is a world cup in his country. may be he is trying to exploit opportunities there. only he knows why he is not attending matches. but its not must for the owner to attend every match. once the season is over we will have the answers to our questions. i hope the club makes the right decision. my fear is that things could continue as they are now. tie Hazard and Courtois. keep Conte if possible. and go and buy a creative player. in this case Isco is not bad as Real are said to be prepared to let him leave. this Emerson guy is good and has got pace. but let him be tested before we declare success. but i liked from what i saw from him. Hudson Odio has got a good skill and pace. and if Conte stays, i can only see him getting more game time once Pedro leaves. i wonder why on earth do we need Leon Bailey when we have him? Fabregas seems to be in form. may be the rest has done him a world of good. he seems to be fit and energetic. and Willian has done well to be considered against Barcelona. Bakayoko missing is a real bonus. if we play 3-5-1-1 formation. i would like a trio of Kante, Fabregas and Drinkwater. flanked by Moses and Emerson if Alonso isn’t fit. we need not to concede that should be our game plan. and the more you keep it 0-0 the more Barcelona will open up, and we have players with pace to hurt them on the counter.

Firstly we have to keep in mind that this was Hull stripped of a number of their players.

But Chelsea played some scintillating football particularly in the first half Willian was outstanding Giroud scored a lovely goal and holds the ball up and brings others into play so well and Hudson Odoi played the whole of the second half and demonstrated his future potential and Fabregas played like a man with a sand wedge in his hands chipping lovely little balls all over the pitch.

But Ampadu at 17 and not just based on this game looks some player he and Christensen at the heart of the Chelsea defence could play together for years this boy is class and wouldn’t look out of place starting against Barca.

We’ll done to Willie too great No 2 to have.

So pleased for Conte he’s been through some s**t over the last few weeks wth even some of his own fans turning on him but once again the match going fans told him how much they think of him.

And suddenly through all of the dark clouds and the rumblings of thunder a little ray of sunlight breaks through.

    At least until Tuesday night!😊

Great match. Willian may have to start on tuesday. Have no idea who the midfield should be as drinkwater looked a bit lost for me. We have baka and drinkwater who just arnt up to this level.
Lets put things into perspective though. There are 5 season defining matches up next and after the first 2 it may go back to being crisis mode. We only beat west brom and hull both at home

The substitution of Pedro after 45 minutes suggests Conte might already have decided his team for Barca and rightly or wrongly it looks like he could have been planning to start Willian from the bench?

Although Willian’s performance last night could cause a rethink???

Giroud or Morata is a big decision too.

Good win and into the next round.
With phwepsi on the midfield dilemma the weakness we have in there going to be really tested next few games.
Tough games and tbh not really expecting much, but really hope we just go out and put in decent performances and not just sit back for the whole game, starting Tuesday night.
I reckon he’ll go Giroud Tuesday.
Looking forward too Tuesday, can it be one of those special CL nights
    come on Chelsea KTBFFH

9 your right pedro did come off however i cant see conte starting him over willian at all. It will probably be 352 with hazard and giroud/morata

Id go with morata. Hes not playing against prem defence were hell flop to yhe floor. Hes playing against what hes used to. Think he would do well

Whoever starts up top will not be an issue if we get our midfield spot on. Fabregas should start. but with who? Kante is guaranteed starter, and in the past we had Bakayoko as the third option. now he is out injured. Drinkwater or Luiz are the two candidates for that position. and if Luiz is fit to play, play him, if he is not available let Drinkwater sit alongside Kante and allow Fabregas to support the attack when needed. and Conte hinted that Alonso will be fit. the back 3 are Azpi, Christensen and Rudiger. expect Moses to be recalled also. Giroud will give us a vocal point and a presence up top which means he will hold the ball against that towering Pique.

9’a… keep pushing this myth conte is using kids.

Full strength side last night bar one starter. One brought on after the game was won against a side facing back to back relegations and were dire.

Anyhow, we won and are through to the next round. Barca next…

Phwepsi, I was thinking Willian v Barca before his performance v Hull because he holds on to possesion well.

But now I’m not sure Conte would have played Willian for the full 90 minutes if he was planning to start him v Barca and I think he may go for Pedro for his energy and the fact he is ex Barca and thinks that may drive a big performance from him.

But Willian’s performance has certainly given Conte something to think about.

I think you’re probably right about Morata over Giroud for the same reasons as above and the game will suit Morata and as an ex Madridian there’s nothing he would like more than put one over Barca.

All down to Conte though now and I will support whatever decisions he makes.

Whatever happens over the two legs v Barca we have to remember that it is to play games like this that we enter the CL. Cheers 999

Roman, when was the last time a Chelsea Manager played a 17 year old for 90 minutes in the latter stages of the FA Cup and Hudson Odoi got a half and Scott got on too. Plus Christiansen plays in every game now.

It seems to me that Conte has a lot more faith in Chelsea’s young players than previous Managers have had but you’re entitled to your opinion buddie.Cheers 999

I guess its difficult to satisfy everyone at the club. I can’t remember a manager who has blooded young players at such a rate in my young Chelsea experience. but since Conte took over. Chalobah was given his debut, Ampadu, Hudson Odoi, Kyle Scott, Andres Christensen. and you still have complain from some. that is the human nature. and Dejon Sterling i should add. who gave Ola Aina his break through? Conte has done what his predecessors haven’t done in 15 years. let us give him the benefit of doubt.

Seems to me Conte can’t win whatever he does he plays the youngsters and he gets criticised and he doesn’t play the youngsters and he gets criticised.

They have to be eased in gradually and the games to play them in have to be chosen carefully for instance Conte probably wouldn’t risk playing the youngster’s v Barca although I don’t think Ampadu would let anyone down and personally I would rather see Ampadu in midfield alongside Kante if Cecs is to play in midfield than Drinkwater or Baka currently.

Like Young Blue I think Conte is doing more than anyone else before him certainly during the Abramovich era to try and bring our best youngsters through to the first team and hopefully that continues.
