Imo both manager and players were to blame for the result last night and I’d even go as far as the board. Our club whether you want to admit to it or not is going backwards.

The last decent transfer window we had was at the start of the 2014/15 season when we completed our deals early and got the players in that were wanted by the manager. Since then it really has been bad. Last summer we left it until the last minute to sign a CB and a LWB, in Luiz and Alonso. Let’s all be honest they probably weren’t the first choice and we got lucky with how Luiz performed last season & Alonso in general. We had no European competition last term so our smaller squad was fine to compete. Everyone knew we needed reinforcements this summer and the board failed massively. We missed out on our targets. We dragged our heels over Lukaku & Danilo. We left it until deadline day AGAIN to bring in a CM & a RWB. For the fourth season running we have gone into a season with only two strikers in our squad. I thought we Barkley coming in so early, the board had learnt their lessons but no. It appears they haven’t and we’ll probably sign Carroll on transfer deadline day and pay over the odds.

We have a a top GK who’s contract only has 12 months left on it this summer. Our star looks like he’s off to Real Madrid this summer and to be honest I really don’t blame him. We have a pathetic policy that we’ll only offer 1 year contracts for players over the age of 30 & a transfer policy of the players we bring in must have a resale value. WTF. Do we want to win trophies or as mentioned become the next Arsenal? If I were part of the Chelsea board, I’d be bidding for Sanchez or looking for world class players not the cheaper option. If you want to bring in middle of the range s**t players I’d rather they didn’t and gave the kids a chance. You can’t tell me there isn’t RWB in our youth system better than Zappacosta.

Honestly this club is probably up there with Arsenal on how s**t it is run.

Well done Norwich and least there were some players on the pitch we cared and played with desire. Lewis looks like a good prospect. I’d definitely keep an eye in his development. I think we’re currently in the market for a LWB 🤔 but we’ll probably go and pay an over the top transfer fee for some 2nd rate pile of c**p. Good luck to Norwich and for the rest of their season.

That game was crying out for a long ball onto the head of Carroll.

Was it me or did conte look pissed off when two players he’s frozen out of the first team combined to score?

chelsea have a clear issue with cheating. Morata Willian and Pedro are cheats. They’re not divers they’re cheaters. Let’s make this very clear. All three choose to go to ground when it’s easier to stay on feet. Very dissapointing imo

we started off playing very well but as noone seems capable of scoring any more therefore that good initial play slowly evaporates and the opposition start getting their tails up, so once again we need a striker very very badly, Morata and Bats even though he got the goal were very poor again. That is the problem if you dominate a game and cannot score the opposing team start believing they can win this game. As for the diving its always the same players who fall so easily instead of getting on with it and at least try to get a shot at goals which I thought they could have done last night instead of trying to cheat their way for a penalty even though the Willian foul was definitely a penalty. I dont know if he used VAR or not but it was a clear foul.

Once again, very disappointing although I feel a much better performance than we saw at Carrow Road – but equally so were Norwich. Decent enough team that should have been capable of beating Norwich but we continue to make hard work of it

I will not comment any more on Michy save to say that I hope I never see him in a Blue shirt again (absolutely awful)

I would like to see the stats on how many goals we concede in the last 5 minutes of a game as it seems to me to be a bit of a constant theme this season…?

Obviously most discussion is on VAR but the reality is that we now lose both Morata and Pedro for Brighton so even if we wanted to go with a false number 9 down there we have no Pedro and Willian is probably going to be shattered. Obvious chance for Musonda to get a game I would argue but who knows..?

Grateful to be in the next round. KTBFFH

It was poor all round, and has been few a while now
But somebody posted earlier they Bakayoko was to blame for treadwaters poor performance, treadwater bar Pedro was probably the worst performer on the night, what is crucial is you do not give the ball away, especially when going side or back ways, he did it on numerous occasions, top sides will muller you on turnover of ball, and sorry guys that has nothing to do with Baka, I am astonished he keeps getting away with criticism and Baka is the fall guy, think Conte knows who is better option.
Now Baka may not be setting the world on fire, but sorry you know football and you can see why Conte will pick him over tread any day, and how long has he been playing the PL.

Bakayoko was not that bad last night its only his passing that is still a problem-lost count on how many times Drinkwater and all the other players gave the ball to the opposition.

Anyone else think its pellegrini at man city again. Players new he was off in the summer downd tools and nearly missed 4th spot.
Do the players know conte is going? Probably. Alot of fringe players arnt playing to show the manager they deserve a spot in the first team. None are that bothered maybe because they know they have to prove themselves all over again with a new manager

I think you are probably right phwepsi, there’s not a chance in hell Conte will be at the club next season, and the players know it.

In all honesty, I believe Conte, Hazard or Cortouis will all be gone in the summer, and you can’t really blame them. I’d be worried about a club coming in for Kante too. The board is showing no ambition whatsoever. We have basically become the new arsenal. In all my 25 years of supporting Chelsea, I don’t think I’ve ever been so disillusioned with the club as I am now.

Gotta agree chaps, plain as day really
The board know, and now taking a massive gamble by hoping we get top four and we go again next season, with yet another new coach, they are not managers at Chelsea, just very well paid coaches.
On a side note, when was the last time Abramovich was actually at a game, not as frequent as he once was.

Roman, the Pedro dive was awful and Morata does go to ground too easily someone needs to tell him that this is the PL not La Liga.

It was a nailed on pen for the foul on Willian though and it makes you question the validity of VAR and the incident that saw Morata sent off (silly boy) would be a penalty more times than not.

But we’re not playing great and a scratch side always lacks cohesion.

We need to turn it around quickly and rebuild our confidence or we won’t make the CL places.

Personally I will be glad when the transfer window is over because I don’t think it’s helping Conte or the club and I can only see a new Coach from next season now but one day we will run out of viable options.

Cruised through, and I imagine Barca are now shaking in their boots at the prospect of playing us in the CL! Good start, but quickly descended into a performance of a side that is lacking confidence and form, especially the midfield, which was pretty horrible, and Michy’s hold up play was,…..well, non existent. Very difficult to build attacks when the ball is just bouncing of Michy.

The whole Willian penalty incident was a joke, and sadly we were the punchline. From there I actually think the ref lost his head. Not only the Morata penalty and sending off, but he seemed to be blatantly ignoring fouls on Chelsea players. I am astounded he booked Morata, never mind send him off. He seemed in a frenzy to get his cards out. Last time I looked if you pulled a player back using your hands on his shoulder, that is a clear foul, and if in the box, a penalty. I can see that a weak or embattled ref ( as he was) MIGHT not give the penalty, but to book Morata is just crazy. Expect to see more defenders pulling back forwards using their hands and arms, as apparently that is allowed now.

Finally, well done Caballero for not only the fine penalty save, but also a quite brilliant save from Madison towards the end of the 90 minutes. I do actually think he is an upgrade on Begovic.

Liquids… that is the entire issue with bats… he is a striker. Hell run all day off shoulders and down channels and in between defenders. His job is to get onto through balls… but we don’t have that ability for a slipped ball into an 18 yard box.

Play him as a two up front and he’d be a very different player. he’ll score goals at West Ham or wherever he goes… scores them for us but we simply don’t play to his strengths.

I won’t defend Morata actions. They had been disgraceful. You can’t go infornt of the ref and do that. He will be lucky not to have FA charges. As for Pedro, i only blame Conte for keeping him on the pitch as he was shit all the game.

Chelseaman, Morata has been dealt with by the Referee the FA never charge a player after he has been dealt with by the Referee and what would he have been charged with anyway only dissent which is only a bookable offence.

Should Morata have reacted as he did? No. But let’s try and keep it real.

There were 2 big positives from the game i thought.

    Kenedy and Ampadu

I thought they were excellent and were wrongfully subbed off. How Pedro, Bakayoko lasted the whole game again is beyond me.

It’s clear there is this made up bullshit where the manager thinks the more senior players are somewhat more reliable and trustworthy than the younger players. This is weird because those senior players keep failing him lol.

Also if Nat Chalobah would have been afforded the same amount of chance/time Bakayoko has been afforded for playing much worse he’d be double the player Bakayoko is right now and we wouldn’t have needed to waste £40m on his lazy ass.

RDP – His hold up play is truly terrible, but we do know he can score goals. I think one of the commentators said last night that he looks pretty average but comes alive in the penalty box. I would probably refine that to he comes alive in the SIX YARD box! He certainly doesn’t score too many goals from any longer range, but fair play, when its up close and personal, he does get across the front of defenders to squeeze the ball in – think last night, away to Atletico and the PL winning goal at WBA last season. May well work well as one of two upfront, but we haven’t played that since Ranieri was manager. Give how predictable our attacking has looked in recent times, maybe we should give it a try? As always, I would leave that decision to the boss.

Good shout from bort on Kenedy and Ampadu, I thought the latter was particularly good, and think we have a genuine talent and future regular first teamer on our hands with him.

Thirded on Ampadu and Kenedy. Good performance from Kenedy and Ampadu looks like he has so much time on the ball.

I think Morata has been disappointing last night. ok the ref could have or couldn’t have awarded a penalty. but that kind of reaction was unnecessary for me. he should have stayed in to is feet. but this was not an isolated case. Morata needs to toughen up, his physicality. i still think there are other factors that are influencing his decline in form. might his wife be one factor? i don’t know, but his attitude should improve. he should stay in the box. and we should commit more players in to the box to support him. Hazard and Willian spent most of the extra time outside the box. that has to change if we want to score enough goals and break down stubborn teams. at the moment defenders has less difficulty in marking Morata. but if Hazard and Willian join him in to the box. then it will be a different story.

CMan, to be fair Morata had a defender around his neck and on that occasion I’m not sure he went down too easily.

I agree Morata shouldn’t have reacted like he did and there’s no defence for that but equally it was a penalty and he was frustrated.

There’s no way that the FA would involve themselves in the Morata incident and I don’t think we should be speculating about Morata having problems with his wife.

There’s not too much wrong with Morata that a couple of goals won’t cure imo. Cheers 999
