Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri has given his players a week off to recharge their batteries ahead of the Premier League title run-in.

“We make a little gamble with my players and they say to me, “If we make nine points will you give us one week away?” he said.

“Now we make just six points but in my mind I said, ‘ok, I was happy with one point from City and one point today – only two points – and we achieved three’.

“I said ‘ok, it’s the same as if you won the match. Go home and we will see you next Monday.’

“They deserve it. They made a fantastic performance. I don’t know where they will go, Dubai maybe? They go wherever they want. I will have one day in London – and then I go to Rome.”

Bad idea IMO. I knew they’d bottle their 1-0 lead at the Emirates yesterday and now’s not the time to be taking breaks. The other title contenders see the recent results as opportunity and will work harder

I think the tough thing for Leicester is that they don’t play again for two weeks.

It was a hard way to lose a game and the conventional wisdom is that the worst thing for players, after a disappointment like that, is to have too much time to brood over it before the next game.

If anything, I think maybe a sunshine break with their families is a good idea – at least for a portion of the next two weeks, they’ll have something else to think about.

Agree Al, I think distraction is the key thing for Leicester now and getting properly refreshed.

Get properly refreshed whilst Arsenal’s key players are back in training. Seems a bit risky to me

Thing is, Leicester have been maximising their potential all season. I don’t really see how working even harder in training will make them better. There’s little they can do about Arsenal players coming back. For me, Leicester’s problem now isn’t so much about training as it is psychology. They need to get the result out their head as quickly as possible so they can revert back to their default mindset.

I think it’s a good thing, ‘They deserve it’ as Raineri put it, as far as the title challenge is concerned their biggest concern should be beating the teams in the bottom half of the table as they will sit back and force Leicester to play… not sure if this team is built for breaking teams down…

Good idea, just to refresh them physically and mentally.

Good idea, they need it as the same 11 has been playing most of the season. Also they graft like mad, break will do them good.

I think it’s a good idea, they have had quite a run of tough intense games since Christmas and done far better than pretty everybody expected. A few days of to clear their heads and they still have a week to prepare for their next game against Norwich!
