When Hiddink took over and Costa was played, for the first 10 games or so you saw a rejuvenated player who contributed and scored goals
I think he just has to have the right mindset and that is partly achieved by having a manager who shows faith in him
This would appear to be the case with Conte so hopefully we will see Costa at his best next season, especially after having a good Summer of rest. KTBFFH
July 13, 2016 at 5:32 pm #1109448Given that Real Madrid have decided to keep Morata at least until next summer when they will make a decision, i think we should be going to dip in to the transfer market and at the moment our only striker who happens to be Costa, who may have his fair share of absenteeism as we all know his temper and conduct isn’t good, and his hamstring issues, that makes him miss 25% of our games in the season. but the subsequent signing of Michy Batshuayi may not calm the nerves as he will have an adaptation period. and many believe that Lukaku and Batshuayi being different, plus Arsenal turn their attention to Higuain, how about if we go for him as we are led to believe that he may consider quitting Everton for Stamford Bridge. why can’t we exploit that and try to work a deal?
July 15, 2016 at 1:37 pm #1113027Seems that Costa officially submitted a transfer request
July 15, 2016 at 2:03 pm #1113120aindro,these rumours won’t go away and have resurfaced again with Costa allegedly telling both Roman and Conte that he wants to return to Athletico?
If true it sets the club another challenge in finding a replacement for Costa, I wouldn’t say no to Lukaku who could also team up well with Batshuayi being both are Belgian but not at circa £65m and as you yourself have rightly said we can’t let key players go without we have quality replacements lined up. Cheers 999
July 15, 2016 at 2:52 pm #1113234Must admit that at the time of writing I have not seen any report regarding this new transfer request
Seems odd when earlier this week it was all about Costa wanting to stay and play for Conte
Worst case scenario is that leaves us short up front and so we have to looking for another striker. Moratta is apparently not available (was he anyway?) so if you look at our reported targets then it almost boils down to Lukaku…?
Not a lot that Conte can do if someone suddenly decides they want away so you hope he has a few names lined up that he would consider (if this report is accurate). KTBFFH
July 15, 2016 at 4:05 pm #1113393I think I read this one comes from one of the Madrid papers, and flies in the face of reports last week of him telling team mates he is going nowhere. I suppose it might be true, but it could also be the usual Madrid sports paper tactic of repeating a story they really want to be true, but have no evidence of, enough times that it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
July 15, 2016 at 4:37 pm #1113465According to the Standard this report did come from a Spanish paper so sounds more like trying to unsettle more than anything else…?
Might be good for Costa and /or Conte to come out and clear the air once and for all (Costa has travelled to Austria as well indicating any move would not be happening soon either…?). KTBFFH
July 16, 2016 at 1:56 pm #1114278I saw a pic of the Chelsea players on the plane on the way to Austria and Costa was in the front with a beaming smile and certainly didn’t look like a player looking to leave?
It’s difficult to know where the truth lies with this one but it does look more and more like an unsettling strategy by the Spanish press and the Athletico President. Time will tell?
July 18, 2016 at 5:43 pm #1117722Chelsea could lose star striker Diego Costa after the Spaniard has reportedly handed in a transfer request according to Mundo Deportivo.
July 19, 2016 at 8:17 am #1118358Last night the Standard reported that Costa was staying and had NOT handed in a transfer request. This morning the Mirror claims exactly the opposite..!!
Also heavily reported is the fact that Conte is still in daily contact with Moratta
Is Moratta the replacement for Costa because that would easily half the fee for Moratta if not more…?
I also read today on the official web-site that Remy is back in training after his bad end of season due to injury and he is fit and looking to play. Assuming that Remy would be happy to be an understudy to Michy and with Traore also available we would only need to resolve the problem of our no.1 striker – Costa or Moratta…? KTBFFH
July 19, 2016 at 9:11 am #1118439Diego Costa, 27, has not asked to leave Chelsea and the striker is expected to stay at Stamford Bridge this summer according to the London Evening Standard. is this a claim and counter claim from papers?
July 19, 2016 at 9:27 am #1118460C/man, as per another thread the Athletico President has denied the quotes attributed to him re Costa?
July 19, 2016 at 10:30 am #1118550I must admit that I would fully expect the Club/Conte/Costa or all of them to make some kind of announcement if there nothing at all in these rumours
The fact that they remain silent does concern me slightly…? KTBFFH
July 19, 2016 at 1:00 pm #1118769Good point 1905.
July 19, 2016 at 1:37 pm #1118856I think the fact that noise is being made could intimate, some sort of agreement ie should chelsea find a new number 1 ie moratta then i think costa will be sold back to atleti with our 3rd ST spot being filled by the new neymar “Garbriel Barbosa”.
Hence why the hush hush, we don’t want to back ourselves into having to sell diego if the moratta deal falls through.
July 19, 2016 at 1:38 pm #11188591905, Conte must be reading your posts mate.? Conte has spoken and says Costa stays and is very happy????
July 19, 2016 at 6:00 pm #1119444Finally we have some statement from Conte clarifying the Costa situation. i can now fully rest.
http://www.teamtalk.com/news/new-chelsea-boss-conte-makes-huge-costa-statementJuly 20, 2016 at 8:28 am #1119957999 – not sure that Conte reads these pages but exactly what everyone hoped to hear
A good reaction from the manager and the Club and quite clearly they expect Costa to stay and play a big part in the season. KTBFFH
July 20, 2016 at 9:11 am #11200201905, true enough mate, the club is allegedly threatening to report Athletico to FIFA re their chase of Costa through the Spanish press
July 20, 2016 at 10:21 am #1120206I’m still not comfortable with Costa silence and the conflicting signals he is giving day after day. is he the one encouraging Athletico? what is the root cause of his unhappiness? he is paid £150k a week, so it may not be money related. food or weather? i was led to believe that London has a very good climate similar to Madrid, on food, i think Zlatan has brought his chef with him, why can’t Costa do the same and come with his chef. on disciplinary actions taken against him, i think that only depends with Costa and how he conducts himself. less aggressive behavior may mean no charges. something is not right here. we have only the club statement, but would like to hear the side of story from Costa’s perspective.
