contract extensions merely means that a club can get a good cash return cause if a player wants to leave he is going to in any event go sooner or later as we suspect both will but hopefully not especially in Hazards case.

Well people are always on the back of Courtois. and last night i was reading calling for Olbalak to be replaced with him. what people are forgetting is the fact that Courtois was a better keeper than Olbalak when he returned the loan spell from Athletico. the problem is that our goal keeping coaches are not up to the standard that of Athletico and others. and even if we sign Degea he will go back wards and we will be calling for another keeper. i don’t blame Courtois for moving back, anyone who joins this club moves back ward. we need to hire some professional goalkeeping coach and yes preferably from Athletico. this Italian Keeper we have at the club doesn’t fit to coach the type of keeper that Courtois is. people are crying for Courtois to be sold. but when he leaves is when we will appreciate. but for now he is the victim of the set up like others including Hazard and Pedro.

Wise fan the current goalkeeping coach was courtois pick, lollichon who worked with cech and courtois in his first season was moved up just because courtois complained about his tough regime.
    So that negates your theory.

Admit I never been a big fan of Courtious but he has looked very good in the last couple of games that he played in so if we can manage to keep him good, if not too bad.

Ok i once watched Courtois dismiss that he has no problem with Christophe Lollichon. and at the time we were led to believe that it was Conte that wants to replace him, as he has his own goalkeeping coach. so you can’t say Courtois has requested the current goalkeeping coach. it was Conte and the club that talked about it. my point was why was he so good at Athletico and was even considered the best keeper in Laliga in 2014? yet as soon as he rejoined us he started to show signs of decline? may be we are too quick to judge him. or he isn’t happy with the coaching or not comfortable. before he rejoined us his one on one save was out standing, his reflex saves was like De Gea, how he is going back ward. the club needs to hire the right goalkeeping coach this summer when Mr boring and his team is sacked.

I thought Oblak looked very impressive last night v Arsenal if Courtois goes he’s the one I would go for.

The problems relating to Courtois boil down to primarily just one thing his contract only has a year to run come the Summer which leaves the club in a vulnerable position.

Personally I would prefer to retain Courtois but if he doesn’t sign a new contract this Summer imo he needs to be sold and Oblak looked a good potential replacement.

Courtois is a better keeper than Oblak, but Athletico has far more superior goalkeeping coach than Chelsea. and if Courtois was at Athletico he would be the best in the world today.

Wise fan… keepers and players look good when faced against average competition.

La Liga is a really poor league in terms of competition… the talent is hoovered up by the big two and lesser by Athletico… oblak might look impressive but perhaps the level of opposition he faces.

I think tbo is a decent keeper, but I don’t think he was ever better than chech who we released far too early. I think there are a number of better keepers out there and that includes the veterans Buffon and chech, pope is statistically a better keeper. I come from the goalkeepers union and have never really been overly impressed by tbo.

And you may find this article helpful. It will clear up any misunderstandings you may have about our coaching set up with courtouis before conte arrived. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/22/chelsea-goalkeeping-coach-christophe-lollichon-nears-exit-as-clu/amp/

So the standard at Laliga is lower than at the PL? that is what the deluded Premier league fans think. that Premier league is the best league in the world. but the opposite is true. Laliga has some of the best strikers and attacking midfielders in the world. so if you are a goalie there you need to always be at the top of your game always to succeed. facing players like Messi, Ronaldo, Costa, Griezmann, Bale, Suarez, Iniesta, Isco, Asensio, Bale and the rest is enough to judge your goalkeeping skills. but why do the premier league fans always live in denial? Laliga has produced the winners of the last 15 of the last 17 Ballon D’Orr winners. and yet you say the standard is poor? i would say the standard of football at the PL is very poor if any. there are only a handful of good attacking players in this league, a few are in the level of the Laliga players. Courtois has been given the best Laliga keeper in 2014, and of all those attacking players including the top two players in the planet. and you want to dismiss? come on ! give me a break!

I dont believe Courtois ever wanted to come back to Chelsea. I dont agree oir coaching is vastly inferior to that ay AM. If a player is basically unhappy for whatever reason it will affect his performance. Courtois is a great keeper but i suspect lacks the motivation of someone happy in their work.

Roman, re your link that’s the way I remembered it too mate. But it’s all a mute point currently with just a year left on his contract Courtois could be the best Goalkeeper in the world but if he doesn’t sign a new contract in the Summer we need to sell him.

A swap deal with Oblak at AM is one solution and it might suit all parties.

If Courtois doesn’t want to be at Chelsea despite being offered a generous new contract which remains on the table then imo we need to get rid of him although my personal preference is that he signs the new contract and stays.

Time will tell but if he hasn’t signed before he leaves for the World Cup I think the club need to sell him and reports of discussions between PSG and his Father doesn’t bode well if accurate as well as kicking into touch his supposed main reason for being unsettled which was his children residing in Madrid and him wanting to be back with them which is fair enough if that was true.

Wise fan… I write as a deluded pl fan… no Worries.

999… plenty of options out there, Chelsea have had, in the main, very competent keepers down the years. If he stays or goes… there will be many out there who would fancy stepping up to the challenge of being Chelsea’s number one. I used to enjoy watching ed de goey in goal for us, reminds me of our current number one as well. Very similar game styles. De goey was far more vocal back then imo.

You wrote the standard in Laliga is very poor. but when ever Laliga clubs face the high standard PL counterparts they humiliated them. tell me why? remember the last time Courtois faced an English opposition was in 2014. and i don’t want to mention who that opposition was. do you know he was man of the match in that game?

See clubs are now tracking McCarthy of Southampton, very good keeper and right age and better than Courtois, so sell Belgian 🦒 now if he is refusing to sign an extended contract.

I still believe that the players who we are looking to extend contracts for are waiting to see what happens in the Summer with the manager. I was reading yesterday that the board is looking for attack minded managers to appease Hazard in an effort to try and make him stay

Courtois is probably the same but there is that extra emotional pull for him to return to Madrid which personally I do not believe that Hazard has

Totally agree that if Courtois stalls for much longer or will not sign then we should sell him. Not totally sure about McCarthy but potentially a worthy shout and I like Pope as well plus the keep from AM so there are options out there so long as we do not delay for too long. KTBFFH

Courtois is probably right about Real being at another level which is why he’s primarily found himself sitting on the bench rather than starting!😊

Bloke’s a complete plank. First time he does an Alisson or Karius I will be on his and Real’s twitter page giving stick. Glad to be rid of the dickhead.

Courtious is a highly displeasing person and seems preoccupied with pushing himself at the cost to others, he may be one of the best keepers in the world but has been involved in several unpleasant personal incidents, no wonder his lady parted ways with him. Both him and Costa were great assets on the field but also troublemakers on and off the field so I am glad they gone even though we may miss their contribution on the field.
