An important game coming up for us this evening.

I want the same side as Everton played this evening with the following changes:

    1. Martial rested (Memphis or Pereira to come in)
    2. Schweinsteiger rested (Carrick to come in)
    3. Mata rested (Lingard, Memphis, or Pereira to come in)

A win would be brilliant while a draw is acceptable today I think. We also need to keep an eye on the big one with City at the weekend – we need our best players fresh for that game.

    What are your guys’ thoughts?

My fear in games like this is we focus on the upcoming big PL game and end up losing games like this.

@macguffin. Exactly mate. I agree with you. Its a balancing act but I would honestly take a loss today if it meant a win against City.

The two should not be mutually exclusive but I am not too sure we have the legs to play three great games (at the same level as Everton at Goodison) in the space of a week with the exact same team.

    I guess we will see.

hatters – I’d rather the 3 [or 1] points against Moscow. The PL is long and a defeat against a rival wont make that much difference, In The CL our defeat against PSV means we can’t afford to drop too many points.

Expecting a tough game in Moscow. Hope the reports are true about CSKA´s Bibras Natcho is still injured(returns 24/10)because here you have the one of the best playmakers out there. Uniteds lineup seems to be the same that ended the Spurs game. I think it will be a good game to watch.

Well it’s half time and guess what,we haven’t created a single viable threat on goal yet again in an away game. How on earth have we ended up with so many total planks like Rooney,Valencia,Jones and Rojo in our team despite spending a quarter of a BILLION on new players?!.The shock of the Everton win is well and truly over now and even if we score four goals in the 2nd half it will not change my mind one single jot,LVG is nothing other than a name from the past who’s time was up years ago.I thought he could do a job for a few years until something better came along but I was wrong. If you play football from the dark ages you have to win games and trophies but one look at his win % ratio, especially away from home is no better than Moyes’s was.No doubt his tactics 2nd half will be to go long ball to Fellaini again, pathetic.

It was definitely not pretty to watch. I’ll take that point though, CSKA Moscow is one of the worst ECL away games. We now have 2 home games in a row against the weaker sides in the group – we should be through by the time we go to Wolfsburg.

Unfortunately Rooney is still rubbish and I see him starting against City because of the occasion and his experience and whatnot. The way we start games is worrisome – I suspect the opposition teams are also picking up on this, upping the ante at the start of the games and then dropping off as our possession wears them down.

Good to see Lingard get a good run out and to see Mata and Darmian rested.

I want a front 4 of Martial, Memphis, Herrera, and Mata. I just wish LvG would drop the 300K per week white (Pele) elephant in the room. Moyes royally screwed us with that contract.

It is very embarrassing to watch this kind of football. I love Manchester United to the core.I started to watch Manchester United since 1992 and we were very entertaining. Even the last years of SAF, we were pressing high but this guy has changed everything. The very first question LVG was asked about tactics, he mentioned attacking football and everybody got excited. But i dont see attacking football. It is possession football. Maybe some poster might get pissed here, but this is truly awful to watch. Maybe Moscow is a difficult tie but We could have win the match if we would press higher.

What I find annoying is that as soon as we scored, we started puttink CSKA under pressure on the ball and we looked quite good for about 5 mins. Why can’t we just do that for 90 mins! The players look like they have lead weights on their ankles. The slow tempo is our biggest problem as it makes it so much easier for other teams to play against us.

LVG was the reason mate with his pre match declaration of accepting a draw from a very tough game.Sir never uttered such nonsense prior to a game.
