To be totally honest, have not heard of Zappacosta or seen him played before but he seems to be a good player and a decent upgrade on the wingback position given that he had his international debut under Control. Good going forward with better end product than Moses and decent with deadballs, similar to Alonso. If he turns out to be as good as Alonso, it will be another transfer coup by the club. (Note:my opinion is purely based on sources from YouTubes)

Bluesy stats wise in Series A only Sandro has better crossing stats than Zappacosta.

I think WB is specialist position and as its been more common in recent years in serie A for teams to play with WB’s it is the perfect league to shop for them. Alonso wwas consistently good in that league and kicked on even further with us, I think we have good reason to feel positive about zappa

Nine, and we got him at half of the fee that we are willing to pay for Sandro.

Bluesy, very true mate.I think we spent far too much time chasing Sandro imo it’s 3 bids the last one being your best bid and then if that’s not accepted move on to the next name on your list.

Yes indeed, probably Conte wanted badly Sandro. But since the beginning, it would not worth the effort. And 70m for a full back? That would have been crazy.

Zappacosta has just been called into Italy squad. That’s an icing on the cake I think. We signed an Italy international, younger than Sandro, for a reasonable fee. I hope he will be a good addition for Chelsea.

I have never heard or seen this guy at all, however, everything I have read about him since the transfer was confirmed would indicate we have made a shrewd purchase

Totally agree that WB seems to be a role that most Italians are familiar with and of course the added bonus is that he has played under Conte before so will know exactly what to expect from Conte but should understand his role well

simply a case of how quickly he can adapt to English football in terms of pace and physicality of the game. On paper this looks to be a good buy. KTBFFH

I am very happy with this purchase. The lad is on par with Sandro in terms of successful balls into the box from open play, and the above article points to the Italian press feeling he changed the Israel game for them.

Another sensible bit of business by Conte and Chelsea.
