£54m for an attacker is one thing. For a defender Kyle Walker better be the greatest full back to have walked the earth. He isn’t, not even remotely. I’ll look forward to the first five occasions when Walker goes a wandering, and messes up, he turns around to see John Stones is there to clear up his mess, and finally realise neither Toby, nor Hugo is there. 54 million for this clown who called city fans glory hunters is an absolute madness. Real Madrids Jesus Vallejo, 20. Theo Hernandez, 19. Marco Asensio. 21, dani Ceballos, 20. Marcos llorente, 22. Cost combined £48m lol. Something has to be done because it’s getting completely out of hand. It’s beyond crazy, decadent and obscene! We have two overpaid lunatics in Manchester trying to outspend each other and an unhinged Italian in London who is getting rid of his clubs’ best young talent. To think that two seasons ago we sold 25 year old Rafael who’d won 3 EPL titles, 2 L.Cups, and 1 Fifa Club World Cup for just £2.5 ml! The world has gone mad.

So the unhinged Italian in London had little to nothing to do with either of those departures. 🙂

It’s almost like a nuclear arms race up in Manchester eh Martial…my shiny 50m pound right back is better than your brand spanking new 75m striker…even with flip knows how much in add ons.

Mendy to City for £57m today as well.

    Bonkers.

Spurs must be in hysterics that they got £50m for Walker.

I’m looking forward to watching how this all pans out for pep

Thanks to this madness Madrid will get circa £100m for two players who used to only ever sit on their bench.
Morata to Chelsea (what a joke)
Danilo to City – almost as funny.

There is only one way to stop the madness, we have stop throwing money at SKY, the tv-contracts bump up the transfer prices every time.

I did some research into the matter when Liverpool bought Carroll for 35 million, it was the same % of the tv-deal as when Shearer moved to Blackburn for 3.5 million.

If this keeps up, soon enough we will see a striker move for 350 million.

Banjo I got to say, I admire your confidence, I would be pissed if my club started selling out of the senior squad.

It’s scary to think that England probably have the most expensive national squad in world football. An English back 4 of John Stones, Kyle Walker, Michael Keane and Luke Shaw would set you back around 160 million. I’m not sure any of them would have been near the squad even 5 years ago.

The next big English fee is probably Ross Barkley. I really don’t see what any of the top clubs see in him. I wouldn’t want my club to go anywhere near him anyway

Bingo… most Spud-lovers would say, including me, that Walker was quite possibly our weakest link last season, combined with the simple fact Trippier is a better all-round footballer (the only thing Walker has over Trippier is pace) and I don’t think I’m alone in thinking Spuds looked better with Trippier in the side, mixed in with another youngster we have called Kyle Walker-Peters (considered better than Walker MK1 and Trippier were at that age), 54 million, or whatever it was, was simply too good to turn down. I mean, Walker was top of the assist sheet with 5 assists last season in 31 games, pity he was joint top with Trippier who got 5 assists in 6 games….

I think it would be very different from us Spud-lovers if anybody else from the first 11 was sold, even Dier.

Chris… the issue with Barkley is that he is in the last year of his contract and Everton are a bit optimistic if they think they’re going to get 50 mil for him… the Goonies aren’t going to get that for Sanchez, so Toffee’s have no bloody chance with Barkley! If they get a penny over 30 I’ll be surprised…anyway, I’d be on the phone offering 30 mil to the Goonies for the Ox (along with 30 for Barkley!), just to mix it up a bit!!

But still you got to replace those players, both Walker and Died contributed last season. You are weakening the squad, even though in theory those are the players you could stand to lose but tell has there ever been a team to make progress while selling their squad?

Walker is a very good attacking full back selling him has currently weakened the Spurs squad still plenty of time left in the window though.

Bingo… there were also rumors doing the rounds that Walker was somewhat less than popular in the dressing room, acting a bit of a Billy Bigboots but like I said, that’s a rumor. I see your point, but lets see who we bring in the squad before we suggest the squad is weaker. I mean, for example, if we lost Walker and bring in both the Ox and Barkley, I’d say that was an improvement overall.

Like I’ve said on other threads here, 54m for our 2nd choice RB, who was upsetting the squad and who’s family wanted him to cash in while moving home, I think that’s a wins/win/win all around.

Let’s not forget, Walker is so good that Money City have gone out and bought another RB anyway…. 🙂

A bit too much post-sale rationalisation re KW for me Bingo. I’d personally take Walker over Trippier all day long. I do appreciate that 54 mil represents a tidy return, but it’s still a big loss to your squad. And since when was KW second choice lol?!!

Btw, who did the PFA vote as best RB for last season?

9,nien,nien… Walker is a great player, nobody is doubting that, and with him going the squad a little weaker. But football is also a business these days (look at your lot and their systmatic abuse of the loan system for example! LOL!!) and 54 million for Walker, when consideirng the things in my other post, is a great bit of bussiness for the Spuds. Yet to find one who is crying about it.

We’ll find out soon enough, but without Toby, Jan, Hugo, Victor, Erik and “The Moose” all covering his ass, I think you’ll find Walker is no where near a 54 million pound full-bakc… I mean, look at the way England perform when Walker is in the team…

    Reckon Ash-bro-bruv-gov has got his Bingo’s and Banjo’s muddled up… 🙂

No problem admitting Walker was the first choice for the first 3/4 of the season, then Trippier started getting more regular starts, including the big games like FA Cup semi’s and NLD’s…obviosuly Trippier was doing well, hence his England call-up and subsequent debut… if Walker stayed he was undoubtedly going to have a battle on his hands to reclaim #1 spot back.. maybe he would have, maybe he wasn’t, maybe the 140k a week on offer was just too good to turn down, but at the end of the day (or season!) us Spuds fans and it seems Poncho and Danny Boy, really aren’t that upset about getting 54m for what was looking like a squad player… sorry and all that, but at least that would explain why Walker got PFA of the year, that was voted before Trippier became our #1, let’s see how next season pans out…

Anyway, speaking of 1st eleven players moving to City, who you going to get to replace Sanchez? 🙂
