That was a very crafty foul by Herrera who had a good game and worked his socks off unlike Ibra. AV was good again and at least shows spirit when he plays. Still dis-jointed and I don’t see where we go from here?

Guts and effort won the day. It wasn’t pretty but winning was the main thing. Ibra was shite but he kept plugging away, Valencia was excellent, Herrera’s second half was the best half I’ve ever seen him have and Shaw was massively better in the second half. Can’t remember anything Carrick did in 90 minutes other than chase Aguero near the end and, goal apart, little Juan did his usual impression of a 90 year old woman. Oh, nearly forgot, Rashford was excellent.

City reserves against the best team Mourinho could fielded.
Boring game,Rashford was the best United player. Nothing else to say.
Well,a win is very good for the confidence.

At least we showed some passion 2nd half and deserved the win in the end, time for the players to grow a collective pair now and remember just how fucking lucky and privileged they are to be where they are, simple as that.

Well said N1xer he looks out of his depth. Let’s face it the last few seasons have been Shyte and he’s come here spent big money and looks as lost as Rooney in midfield!

Jesus you lot are a bunch of old women aren’t you! Oooooooh it was only city’s reserves! Absolute embarrassment some of you are.
Isn’t it funny how Pep (best manager in the world!) has gone 6 games without a win for the first time in his career, but Mourinho’s hotel accommodation is more important news!
I said before the game that when Mata plays we seem to win so we need to keep playing him, despite what JM1502 says!
Obviously this will be spun as “only being the EFL Cup” (though if we’d have lost it wouldn’t be spun that way!), but a win against those lot should do our confidence the world of good. Maybe that’s the only issue at the moment, battered confidence. Let’s steam roller Burnley and take it from there!

@happy – We’re all glad to have won tonight but if you are seriously suggesting that “battered confidence” is “the only issue at the moment” then you are either deluded in the extreme or you’ve been hiding out in the caves of Afghanistan for a few years!.The issues are far more deep rooted than that I’m afraid,I only wish you were right believe me.

@n1xer – Good spot mate, also thought his goal celebration was a bit luke warm as well, just a bit of a double fist pump then hands straight back in his pockets again.Dont know what to make of it all really, perhaps Wazza should give him a few phone numbers to call for some ‘company’ to try and put a spring back in his step!.??

One word for me – relief. Thank God that horrible run of games is over. Next three games we should not only win, but hopefully show sings of a more cohesive team. Then tricky game against Arsenal.

Next 3 games may look easy on paper. But just like the last 2 years under LVG, United struggle to break these teams down. If United do win them, it would be narrow IMO.

    Ironical isn’t it?
UTD get beat 0-4 and the press are over them. Doom and gloom everywhere.

City go 6 games without a win and nothing is said!

And very soon it may be 8 games – a draw with WBA this weekend may be the best they can expect, followed by a game v Barca!

@happyhurling – We dont discuss Pep going 6 games without a win on here because this is the United forum. Looks like your tribalism is showing up again, you want a forum where we praise ourselves and gloat over rival teams.

@concernedfan – We’ve been through this before. The press report everything about United because United sell papers. Would you rather they give more publicity to City so City are in the news more than us, and build their fanbase, increase sponsors, get more money and become richer than us. As Oscar Wilde said, the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about !

PS – Not much to say about the match that hasn’t been said already and in the past.. A win is a win though and twice as nice against City.

Good result and an enjoyable second half. Thought Mourinho looked subdued at the end. Something is not quite right there.

@blacky, jesus mate if Wayne past him details of a few of his ‘friends’ we’d end up getting relegated! Jose would be moving from the Lowry to a nursing home with the grannies. But seriously though, the more i see of him the more i am convinced he realises the task at hand may be the biggest he has faced in his career. I don’t understand why he plays some players for one game and then we don’t see them again for a month or whats happening with Miki and Martial? Why do players like Ibra play every minute of every game when they are playing shit? For me, we look totally rudderless out on the pitch and no better to what we witnessed under LvG. In some aspects we may actually be worse.

I’m still hopeful Mourinho will get it right in the end but think we’ll have a long rough season ahead unless a few players get their heads outta their arses and start putting performances in.

Laugh as much as you want..but i think if u read between the lines hes given it away.He says he misses family, manchesters been difficult etc. I think whats happening is, at full time he realises win lose or draw im going back to my hotel without my children and wife.who diesnt miss there family? Honestly i think thats why hes so subdued, cold and not himself! thoughts on this?

@n1xer – haha fair point mate,at the rate his hair is greying I’m sure he’d blend right in at the nursing home and be able to have his pick of all the wrinkled fanny he could handle on a daily basis!!.

@fergiesarmy – It seems about as far fetched as a ‘bucket of shit from China’ to even suggest what you are saying may be true, but something seems to be really bugging him that’s for sure mate.

The only time i have seen him smile was when his Porto knocked us out in CL.
He reprimanded Conte for telling the audience to clap their players but when he knocked us out with Porto he ran like an idiot along the sideline imitating a scarecrower coming alive finding Messias. Fergie couldnt believe his eyes watching him bloody well thinking cant have that at OT. Now he is here looking like scarecrow who never comes to live.
