The teams left in it reads like a who’s who list from back when Liverpool used to win the European Cup so if we take it seriously you’d have to fancy our chances of winning this pot.

But who do you fancy in the draw? The travel agent in me fancies some spring sunshine with Apoel Nicosia but Jose might not agree! I wouldn’t mind a trip to Galicia and a game against Celta Vigo either. A short trip over the channel to one of the Belgian sides might be more preferable given the hoo ha Mourinho has made about the FA Cup tie with Chelsea though.

We don’t want either of the Russians, Celta could be a tricky little tie and any of Lyon, Roma and Moenchengladbach would be better saved for the final. That said, you’ve got to play them sometime and, as you say Wonderfuel, hardly a list of A graders.

As things stand I fancy our chances more in the EL than in the Prem as our route back into the CL. I’d be just happy to avoid Roma really at this stage.

A trip to Russia then. Just what Jose didn’t want. I can feel another moan about fixture pile ups coming on.

The Monday game at Chelsea works out perfectly though. Is that FC Rostov as in Rostov-on-Don and are they allowed to play their games in their own ground? I think I’m actually on a wanted list there.

Good draw in my opinion – we avoided any of the bigger or in-form teams so it’s what I would’ve liked. Obviously travelling to Russia will be a hindrance however it’s much better than taking on Roma over two legs.

Good draw overall I think. Lyon v Roma gets rid of one of the bigger teams plus Schalke v Monchengladbach and Olympiakos v Besiktas.

Had a slight chuckle to myself at Gent v Genk.

Ha ha…I hadn’t spotted that manthistle! I thought Genk was just Gent not feeling very well.

Agree though, a good draw and if we have to go to Russia the fixtures and dates work as best as possible.

Looks like some of the big rivals will be knocking each other out too.

Its a good draw and 1st leg being away is good as it will give us 3 days rest to prepare for the chelsea game in the FA cup, then 2 days till the 2nd leg at old trafford. Imagine playing chelsea and then travel to russia for the 2nd leg that would of been a disaster.

Russel really? I think its a disaster! Its a 8 hour journey! And you think 3 days is sufficient for the chelsea game? Then we have to travel down to london as well! Its the most horrible draws we cld have got. Players will be shattered. Dont understand your logic russel!

Besiktas v Olimpiacos promises to be a fiery affaiir, amongst the fans at least if not the players. Police in both countries must have been hoping that one didn’t come up

That’s not as bad as you make out. I doubt they’ll be sat in economy struggling for leg room with kids kicking the back of their chairs. They’ll be in business class with their own beds, drinks and food served on request, etc.

And you think 3 days is sufficient for the chelsea game?
No matter who we drew we were going to face Chelsea 4 days later and then have the return leg 3 days after that.

Our first priority should be the CL therefore we should concentrate on the Europa and PL imo. It wouldn’t bother me too much throwing the Chelski match. With Spurs and Arsenic out of europe, 4th is looking tougher by the day.

@yorkshireman. Agreed fella. If we get a trophy in the bag on Sunday then we already have some achievement to point to – even though it is a mickey mouse cup. The FA Cup isn’t that much more prestigious than the League Cup in my opinion. Considering his moaning about the fixture schedule, I reckon Jose has already set it up for us to throw the Chelsea game and to make sure we dispatch Rostov clinically.

Lifting the Europa League and the League Cup would signify a successful season in my opinion.

So in summary we should prioritize the Europa League and the Premier League after Sunday.

Take each game as it comes, aim for the lot and die trying should be our motto.

Not sure about Spurs and Arsenal getting eliminated being a bad thing. If the past is anything to go by, once they start unravelling they do so spectacularly. Both have shown their glass jaw in recent years and I think we’re starting to see it now.

I agree, take one game @ a time,we have a big-enough squad to cope with all these games if there are no injuries.Rostov are not a Real Madrid or a Bayern.
