I’m considering that we may go back to 4-3-3 in the next game – what does everyone think?
I reckon Pep knows that Aguero and Jesus can’t play together and started with them both just to satisfy those that want them both in the team. Also, remember how we changed so much from the style in the first game last season to the style in the second match?
I think it will be:
Ederson / Mendy, VK, Stones, Walker / Ferna, KDB, Silva / Sane, Aguero, Sterling(or)Bernardo.I think Aguero will start but Jesus will get the starting spot at the first opportunity to justifiably get him back in the team, Aguero will move next summer. The alternative being that Jesus plays in the Sterling position of last season
August 18, 2017 at 9:47 am #1518867I’ve given up on guessing PG’s starting elevens but seems like a reasonable analysis. However, what will be will be with Aguero. I do think I’d take a point right now against Everton.
August 18, 2017 at 12:45 pm #1518975Very true, but I think Everton have another level to reach this year and so this should be decent timing to play them, plus we should smash all home games this season
August 18, 2017 at 3:30 pm #1519102The target should be clean sheet, and goals. I do not see Everton concedeing many.
Jesus, a fine prospect but he needs to score if he wants to be first choice over Augerro who will always get goals and I anticipate 20 plus again this season with the quality support he has. I do think Kun and Jesus can play together, I do not see why not. However, I am not to concerned who scores but I think as a team we need to 90-100 this year to win anything, it also shows attacking threat to all teams. We maybe lightweight for not having a big target man but fluidity as a team, will take care of that aspectAugust 18, 2017 at 11:32 pm #1519319Surrey Blue, “….take a point….”?????
FFS, it’s Everton not Real Madrid.
Admittedly, we did tend to find it tough against teams that sit back and try to hit us on the break and without a target man (plan B) we can seem somewhat limited.
Having said that, I feel Pep learned a lot from last season and this year he so many more options from the bench.
An early goal would be great on Monday, meaning they would have to ‘open up’ and that’s where Silva and De Bruyne will start to pull the strings.
I’m going 3-0 to City.August 19, 2017 at 9:13 am #1519370Gjblues – let’s hope I’m wrong but I’m just applying simple – therefore very unsophisticated – probability. City has won about a third of all its league games against Everton in the ‘new era’ ( last 10 years) and I just think a draw would be ok!
August 19, 2017 at 4:11 pm #1519578If we get two penalties again we should score them. Last season we should have murdered them.
August 19, 2017 at 6:28 pm #1519704We really ought to be looking to win this game… Everton have spent heavily and I suspect they’ll be more adventurous than putting 11 men behind the ball. That said I think they have got a side with limited pace and no natural target man.
Last two seasons home games have been very unlucky not to walk away with it. I’m going 1-0 or 2-1 City
August 21, 2017 at 6:29 pm #1520692Really though game this one. If we do not play better then last we will lose we need to do a really really good game to get those 3 Points. are we up for it? well i´m not sure time will tell. it would feel nice to have a big strong penalty area striker like Lewandoski in theese games. really nervous for this one
August 21, 2017 at 8:37 pm #1520724Was just going to say not impressed pep….then Rooney scores …
Honeymoon over sort it out..Some of our touch/passing poor
August 21, 2017 at 8:39 pm #1520725Is sane playing fullback???
August 21, 2017 at 8:45 pm #1520727Walker off now
you bunch of chumpsAugust 21, 2017 at 8:54 pm #1520728Just like watching a game from last season.
August 21, 2017 at 8:58 pm #1520731What a disappointing half. Sane has to go off, Danilo on for him, play him on the right with Otamendi at left back. Jesus has done nothing and Aguero has missed chances. Hope I’m wrong, but this doesn’t look good
August 21, 2017 at 9:06 pm #1520735Well i use to defender Pep most of the time But this time nobody can Sane is so far from beeing a fullback thats possible! Wrong selection There getting sick and tired to se city playing players in theire wrong positions.
The ref is afwull no way it was a card Walker should have stayed on.
But not crying over that we should have had 2-3 goals, But yet again we are not clinical enough.August 21, 2017 at 9:06 pm #1520736sterling?..
August 21, 2017 at 9:11 pm #1520737Under Mancini and pellegrinni we always looked like scoring 2or3 we don’t now
August 21, 2017 at 10:08 pm #1520760I saw a few positives today. Ederson’s distribution was excellent. De Bruyne ran his heart out. Bernardo looks a serious player and we showed pride in the last 10 minutes. I still think Guardiola is heavily over complicating things. Sane is not a fullback and playing him there is buying a one way ticket to destroying his confidence. All our attacking talent on the pitch and our centre halves seem to have the lion share of the ball all the time.. what kind of tactic is that? Overall a very frustrating afternoon. No more tinkering Pep, get your fucking shit together
August 21, 2017 at 10:37 pm #1520769Well, could have been worse!
You all know I’ve been a big Pep supporter on here, but this one lies with him. Trying to fit square pegs in round holes. Matching Everton with 5 at the back was pointless and Sane was obviously not suited to play there and gave Everton an easy out all the time to hit it long to his side. But equally Walker wasn’t in the game on the right – is that formation ‘s to accommodatàe Stones? cos have
August 21, 2017 at 10:39 pm #1520771Madeley as expected was useless for both sides in the end – same as Leicester last season – he makes his decision based upon player reactions, not good enough at this level
