Not the draw I would have chosen but at least we’re at home, also it’s not ideal with the pressures of our current title challenge, for a start we will have to / will need to select a full first team, and Mourinho has already started spouting his nonsense.
Lincoln at home would have been much better but Arsenal grabbed that one. 🙂
February 19, 2017 at 8:35 pm #1437626A really hard draw for us. But to be champion, we have to beat the best team. I would still prioritize the league though
February 19, 2017 at 11:10 pm #1437646Aindro are you a Man Utd fan? “A really hard draw” lol. We have home advantage and United are terrible at the back. We only have league and FA Cup so could easily field our strongest team however I would like those that got us here to keep playing (including the final as long as we end up winning the league)
February 20, 2017 at 5:38 am #1437651Sorry Amz but I disagree. If I’m not mistaken Utd haven’t lost a game since we battered them back in October. Id rather have faced anyone else to be honest. They’re a completely different outfit now. Confidence up, playing better footy and looking more like a normal Jose team…difficult to beat. Being at home helps but doesn’t guarantee us a win. I’ll be fascinated to see who starts. Fixture congestion also counts against Utd but Jose will want revenge for the humiliation he suffered last time out. I’m predicting a very close game. On another note…Nine I’d rather have faced the Goons than Lincoln 🙂
February 20, 2017 at 8:12 am #1437675Horrible draw for us! We have a terrible, awful record at the bridge. Finding it hard to understand why we cant win there… the only thing guaranteed is united fans will be absoloutly briliant. We always are away from home. We have some new songs.really brilliant lol
February 20, 2017 at 8:14 am #1437678Stuilse, I’m with you United are on a long unbeaten run now and playing well and Mourinho is already demonstrating how much he will be up for this game given the above I think we should go with our strongest team.
Based on the latest comments from Conte about no room for sentiment in his selections it seems he may well have a similar view for this one.
The Goons over Lincoln? Now that is cruel. 🙂
February 20, 2017 at 8:22 am #1437690I think we have too much for United to handle. Plus it’s like a London derby 😉
February 20, 2017 at 8:31 am #1437697fa, it’s like a home game for United all those Surrey Red’s live closer to the Bridge than the majority of our home fans. 🙂
Joking aside I think both clubs would rather have avoided this one but it should be a good game.
To Chelsea’s benefit will be the fact that United have a EL game on the Thursday so lets hope the BBC select it for their Friday night game eh! 🙂
February 20, 2017 at 11:26 am #1437801Personally I was not that disappointed with the draw at all
There is no doubting the fact that ManU have improved but I still do not see a well oiled machine at all. They are grinding our results and rely too much on individual pieces of skill to keep the good run of results going. They have a poor record at the Bridge in recent times, we do not have the distraction of European football and they have to play either side of this cup tie in the Europa (assuming they make the next round which should be a given)
We are at home and although I would say we have not played well for a while this is exactly the type of game to go full strength and for everyone to get back on song
My feeling is that Chelsea at the Bridge is the tie that all of the other teams would have wanted to avoid at all costs. KTBFFH
February 20, 2017 at 11:56 am #1437832I think every Chelsea fan would have preferred to face another team than Man Utd, Man City or Spurs. Look at Man Utd’s run. If I am not mistaken, they are unbeaten for so long already. They are the team on-fire, starting to gel.

Manure are hardly a team on fire mate, yes unbeaten but lots of draws in there, unlike Chelseas run which was all about winning.
I would of taken any of the teams left at SB, we will beat Manure as we did in the PL earlier, as pointed out by CFC1905 their record is pretty poor at SB, and would of been the tie all the ohter clubs left in bar Lincoln would of been glad to avoid.February 20, 2017 at 1:11 pm #1437878Don’t forget that the 16 game unbeaten run consists of Europa and League Cup teams. So while it is a decent run of form, it’s not a world beater.
Utd still have to play Goons, Spuds and City away as well as us at OT in the league!
February 20, 2017 at 1:16 pm #1437884Bluepylon, you are correct in saying they haven’t been on fire. But then neither have we. They also have relied on individual pieces of skill via the likes of Pogba, that Armenian (who I rate) and Ibra. So do we…cue Hazards goal against the Goons. They are far more organised and keep their shape better…as do we. If Jose selects the likes of Martial and Rashford they can counter with pace and intent with a beast of a striker to finish…as can we. Utd have ground out results with their extra class being the difference as have we. Jose will pick his strongest side whereas I’m still unsure what Conte will do. Will he keep the likes of JT, Chalobah and RLC or drop them all for his preferred 11? We will definitely be the fresher of the 2 sides so if it’s scoreless with 10 mins to go we will probably be less likely to gas out. Extra time would also suit us..I’m assuming replays get dropped at the last eight stage? You don’t have to be impressive and play great footy to win as both sides have demonstrated this season. Both sides will be equally motivated with Utd…especially Jose, having that 4-0 mauling fuelling their fire. Jose’s mind games illustrate how seriously he’s taking this fixture. Slight advantage to us but nothing significant at all. As for Utds poor record at the Bridge…won’t count for anything in a tie of this magnitude.
February 20, 2017 at 2:03 pm #1437912If I am correct then I believe that ManU have Europa ties either side of the FAC game so little time to recover. Historically, Jose always targeted every knockout match so it will be interesting to see if he prioritises the Europa over the FAC or not (guess it could easily depend on who they draw next assuming they progress)
All reports at the weekend indicated that Conte wants to do the double which implies to me that he feels if we continue to play as we have (even though not great) then the EPL is within spitting distance
If that is the case then I would field my strongest team to take on Manu. KTBFFH
February 20, 2017 at 5:09 pm #14380121905, I knew United had a EL tie prior to the FA Cup game but didn’t realise that they had one midweek following the our FA Cup game.
Good news for us it almost certainly means our FA Cup game will be played on the Sunday.
Hopefully United get a tough draw in the EL with the first leg away from home so they have to travel too with the EL tie either in the balance or with United trailing from the first leg both of which would give Mourinho a problem on selections. Cheers 999
February 20, 2017 at 5:20 pm #1438015Tough game for Chels but it’s getting to the business end of the tournament where you expect to play the big teams. Massive boost that we got the home draw.
Is it me? or in recents years Arsenal are getting really easy routes to the final. Getting two non league team draws in the 5th and Quarter Final is unheard of. Lets hope Sutton give them a 5-1 beating lol.
February 21, 2017 at 8:15 am #1438150bort – could not agree more regarding Arsenal and the easy ties…? KTBFFH
February 21, 2017 at 8:43 am #1438169999 this ones for you…i know you rate him v highly???? https://youtu.be/YcjZAvQFZdQ
February 21, 2017 at 11:29 am #1438250999… If it was your post, then, I’d be disappointed not to see the young guns getting a chance. I have been quietly impressed by Chalobah’s game time and work rate this year. He doesn’t look out of place in the side either. But, it’s now the crunch in the cup and perhaps we’ll see some names give way. Going to be a really good day and hopefully deny Jose a cup. I hope he never gets a result out of us again at the bridge.
February 21, 2017 at 2:07 pm #1438351I can’t wait that game at the Bridge. Mourinho can say whatever he wishes, i hope our manager won’t be drawn in to media sideshows. we have what it takes to beat this weak United team. i will be disappointed if we don’t beat them. we are too superior to them. granted that he will try to play negative and defensive because that is the only type of football he understands when facing bigger teams. so we may need to take the game to his team.
