Spurs are the clear favourites, should we rest players with Southampton in mind or should Conte pick what he thinks is his strongest side in the hope we beat Spurs and it gets us back on track and into the Cup Final.

Out of the Spurs game and the Southampton game the Southampton game the latter is the bigger and most important game imo!

bort, they’re the form side mate at the moment and we can’t deny that but that doesn’t mean we couldn’t beat them although Spurs will be the favourites which might work in our favour.

    Nine,

I think people are getting carried away with Tottenham’s form.

Tottenham’s last 7 Premier League fixtures

    Stoke (H)
    Everton (H)
    Southampton (H)
    Burnley (A)
    Swansea (A)
    Watford (H)
    Bournemouth (H)

With all due respect since Tottenham last lost in the Premier League to Liverpool they have since played 5 of 7 games at home against mostly very average teams. No doubt a good team playing well but in several of those games they struggled. Swansea, Everton, Southampton.

bort, that’s interesting mate. I should have checked the odds Chelsea are actually marginal favourites v Spurs. 🙂

Which game is more important Spurs in the FA Cup Semi Final on Saturday or Southampton in the PL on Tuesday?

Personally I would say the Southampton game and if that’s the case should we rest players v Spurs? I’m not sure about that one.

I have absolutley no confidence in us winning this. Spurs are everything we arnt latley. They are more hungry they have more fight. They are scoring for fun and conceding next to none. They have harry kane and we have costa. The difference in these to is incredible atm.
The leauge is the priority. Cant throw away all the good work this season

As it stands and a totally unbiased view
Which Chelsea players would get in the Spurs startin 11′ with no injuries to be considered
Hazard Kante perhaps, struggling with any others at the moment, and that is hard to fathom really.

The league is top priority. However, we cannot underestimate the importance of this match against Spurs. It’s a perfect opportunity to lower their confidence and to boost our morale. I cannot see us winning though, not solely based on Spurs’s form this time, but based on how Spurs dominated us in our 2 previous matches. Kante Matic cannot handle Wanyama Dembele. And Kane Alli Eriksen are too strong for Luiz. Btw what happened with Luiz? He comes back to his previous self. He was late against Bournemouth, he was late against Man Utd (Rashford).

I really hope Conte can find a solution. I think we reach a point of saturation. Our starters jaded and the replacements cannot perform well as they haven’t been given much opportunity.

Hope that the players and the coach will find a solution

The wing back system that has got us to where we are has no cover for Alonso and Moses which was the problem v Palace and United and even Wolves and that is something that needs sorting out in the summer.

Let’s not get carried away though Spurs aren’t a cross between Real and Barca, true they’ve won 7 games on the trot and they are high on confidence and form but they’ve played primarily lower end competition with 5 of those 7 games at home and a much tougher fixture list to come.

One to eleven with Hazard the stand out player and the Costa of pre Christmas form we are a match for them.

We may not beat Spurs on Saturday but whatever the outcome I still think we will win the title by a point or two albeit we might need a solution to Costa’s form.

Why not look at this the other way around. Which game is more important for Spurs – the semi against us or their game on Wednesday away to Palace…? Should they rest players…?

Personally, while I do not want to throw the league away I think we should still look to reach the final. I would not be adverse to making a couple of changes and possibly go with the false number 9

I reluctantly agree that on current form, Spurs should be the favourites. Obviously they have a bit of a mental block when it comes to Wembley and we are still top of the table so it will be close – but they have the same kind of issues to face in the same way as we do IMO…? KTBFFH

come on go for it, lets not pass it over, who gets in the spurs 11 from Chelsea.
Looked at objectively we are clearly the underdogs Saturday.

we should not rest the squad. We are in the semifinal, just 1 match to go to the final. Even though the league is more important, I think we should not forget Britain tradition also in FA Cup

by not resting the same players we are now paying the price-even though they may be physically fit you lose something to be able to perform every week game after game and even add the fact that we not in any Euro football, the team needs to have a bit of rotation-its as simple as that and on current form its just about anyone’s guess who the first 11 should be.

Compared to the other teams the squad is thin, when you take into account that whoever the coach/manager Chelsea rarely go with youth, Ake classic example, WTF was he ever brought back, far better player the Zouma, yet he got the nod again the weekend, yep I know he is young but way off match sharpness.
Also probs a clear message that however the season pans out Conte wants new players in the summer.
We have in the past fallen into the trap of not freshening squad up on the back of winning things.

1905, personally given Spurs tougher fixture list v Chelsea’s and the 4 points defecit I would say currently Spurs should prioritize the FA Cup first as currently they have more chance of winning that than the PL and the betting odds reflect that.

I doubt that either Manager will rest too many players on Saturday ideally Chelsea win it over 90 mins with Southampton to come on the Tuesday and Spurs have the advantage of another 24 hours rest before the Palace game.

999: yes, I think both teams will go full squad for the semi. Myself I see playing before Spurs in the league as an advantage. Look at us last weekend. Spurs had already been cutting the gap when we played Man Utd. If we win against Southampton: it would put some pressure on Spurs.

Aindro, agree mate that playing ahead of Spurs is more advantageous to us than the extra 24 hours recovery time for Spurs.

Let’s hope we pick up the 3 points v Southampton which puts some pressure on Spurs and that Palace then turn up v Spurs and do us a favour.
