A fourth sub to be allowed in the event of extra time from QFs onwards. Seems to me it’s not exactly a huge deal as the FA are suggesting.

Id like to see a more radical sub shake up that maybe utilised a roll-on-roll-off rule as is the case in youth football.

I’d also like to see a ten minute sin bin. I’d have the first bookable offence be sin bin with a further offence being sin bin plus yellow, and then any further offence a red and off.

It’s quite ironic, having read a number of fellow posters’ lamentations of late about there being too much non-football chat on these pages, to see this topic which is actually about a current football topic that affects all clubs receive absolutely zero interest, while the ‘female managers at work’ thread is nearing a third page 🙂

Seems to me that as much as some would like to protest that they are true football discussionists, many are actually more excited with a bit of women’s banter and would be more at home on Mumsnet than TeamTalk 🙂

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t actually give a shit, but there it is lads.

    Mate, it’s close season – still!:-D

What threads of discussion do you want?! It’s transfer spec mainly and I’m actually glad for the non-footballing section!

On the subs on and off, and I think the ref and fans could get a bit dizzy; maybe in cup competitions, they should just apply a wildcard and allow unlimited substitutions.

I would love free subs on and off, just think about the tactical changes you could make in one match.

Agree Bingo. Imagine the new dimension it would add.

It would also decrease the amount of injuries players suffer. I would love it, making the bench would mean actual gametime. Younger players would get more gametime, I can´t see anything bad about allowing it.

I also liked the idea someone posted here a couple of weeks ago about players being sent off for 10 or 15 minutes for a serious foul. That and having free subs to mix the game up would increase the amount of goals scored.

Its similar to the 2 minute rule in handball, for a foul that does not merit a red card you get sent off for a couple of minutes to cool of on the sidelines, you need to watch your team come under waves of attack before you can enter the field again.

Agree re temporary sending offs Bingo. That’s what I’m referring to with the term ‘sin bin’.
