so the results the last couple of weeks have gone against us, now were 7 points adrift or 3 wins, saying the teams above us are going to win at least 2 if not 3 games before season ends ,that means we have to win 6 games at least and probably 8 to be realistic. its not going to happen ,but lets beat southampton and enjoy the cup run, who knows how far we can go. enjoy the rest of the season , yes wolves and villa are coming up , blues are going down ,so no local derby next year.
which players will stay ,who will go , well we know evans will go the pole will go, the new egyptian no work permit , mclean ,barry ,maybe rodriguez, yacob and mccauley. at least it will give players like field ,leko , kane ,tulloch an opportunity to break into the first team. will pardew be manager , anyones guess. id love to see sir gary back i think heed bring us back up. i was never a fan of pardew ,but he has done a decent job with trying to turn us around.

Dear Northbay…living in northern Ontario must have numbed your mind! Bring back Sir Gary !! Are you insane?

We have had it, as we have to win at least five games and, as we’ve only one three all season, that is not going to happen. Tomorrow, I hope AP players some young and fresh players, and keeps our best team for the F.A. Cup game against Southampton.

As for next season..we need a young manager with a new approach, to inspire a new generation of Albion players.

The prevailing theme now seems to be “we are down, lets give up” which is ludicrous. We should not even consider this unless it’s mathematically impossible. There is precedence all around us, look at Palace who lost there first 5 and didn’t score a goal, look at Leicester in 2013 down and buried but won 8 of there last 10 (I think), Newport were about to be kicked out of the league cut adrift and came back to stay up on the last the day of last season. The crowd should get behind AP and the team and do our bit to squeeze every ounce of effort to remain in this league. Then, if we do go down, we can say at least we tried. Giving up now is just plain wrong! COYB.

I agree totally, Duke, and the effort MUST start tonight. Chelsea are vulnerable. Two weeks ago we won at Anfield – and Liverpool had their full team out and were looking to winning the cup! Chelsea have last their last two games 3-0 to Bournemouth and 4-1 to Watford. We HAVE to give it a go. I hope we have Evans, Gibbs and Greg back tonight and hopefully give Field a game in midfield. J Rod and Sturridge must start as Rondon, for all his virtues, hasn’t got the striker’s instinct of the other two. In the recent past we have cost two Chelsea managers their jobs. Let’s put the pressure on Conte.
When we achieved the Great Escape, of our last ten games we won four, drew four and lost just two. We now have 12 games to play. The records to date are remarkably similar – now we have 20 points, then we had 18 points from two more games. Leicester were doomed in 2014-15 – they won eight out of ten games. It’s by no means over!

No one is giving up as you put it but there are those of us touched by the grip of reality. Of course survival is still mathematically possible and even if it weren’t the vast majority of fans will still be there urging the team on but expecting a team that has won just one of its past 25 league games to suddenly conjure six from the final 12 is hope personified.

The big difference compared to the Great Escape is that 34 points (should we get that many) will not be enough this time round and the way recent results have gone it might take even more than 40 as happened when West Ham were last relegated. As long as the boys keep fighting they will get all the backing they deserve but we are not where we are by chance – it is because thus far we have been the worst team in the division. Pardew might just have corrected that but the probably fatal damage was done a long time ago.
