Perisic was mainly wanted because he is a naturally left footed left winger, which surprisingly enough makes him a rare commodity these days. Someone who can get to the by-line and cross without having to switch to his right foot. I think ultimately Jose still wants someone who can do this but Martial and Rashford’s early season form has meant that Perisic hasn’t been needed. Time will tell on this one, come Feb or March we may be wishing this deal had gone through.

Though if we’d have signed Perisic we would probably have been playing 352 a lot more so far this season. So either of Martial and Rashford could still have started games up front, together with Lukaku. With Valencia and Perisic as the wing-backs.

@redblood – Yeah there seems to be some noise about Ozil coming to United on a free. Would be happy with that, Jose knows how to get the best out of him and at his best he is a level above Mata.

Did Jose just say United fans should not expect a top4 finish this season?!

tMA-Ideally mate neither since they both will be close to past their best!.Much rather we invest in a much younger player.

Is it too early to be praising José? Yes we’ve started well but wouldn’t it be better we wait until after the City game.

Scholesy – praise can only refer to the past though right? Jose has been praised for a great start and rightly so. We’re dominated by a world that seeks to conclude and define on a weekly basis and holding back praise until after a big game isn’t inline with the industry standard of game by game analysis. In reality we should just wait till the end of the season to see what happens and then dish out our summations. But, again, that’s not how the footballing world works.
The problem with waiting for the city game to decide whether or not to offer praise is that we might lose and then no praise is given which isn’t fair because it has been a great start.
Plus the City game is only another chance of 3 points in the view of the season as a whole it’s the same as Crystal Palace at home. Beat city and, no doubt, praise will be at an all time high. But losing to them shouldn’t take anything away from our good start to the season which Jose deserves praise for.

Happy, I just don’t think he’s done anything I haven’t expected him to do so no he doesn’t deserve any praise at the moment. We haven’t played a top team and this is what should be expected.

If we are there or thereabouts after the City game I will think we he has had a good start and deserves praise.
