Well done Libanski, according to my calculations you edged MacGuffin at the top the table
Predictictions table after the Watford game (only counting league games).
As usual, it’s notoriously easy to miss a prediction so please let me know if you spot an error.

Three points for correct score, one point for correct result (Win/Lose/Draw)
    Libanski: 34
    MacGuffin: 33
    Homerjay: 30
    HappyHurling: 29
    Scholsey: 26

Macguffin lost in injury time, wasn’t a penalty for me.

Thank you Homerjay, I’m sure it wasn’t easy keeping up with the predictions every game all season but you held on to your game and I don’t think there’s anyone who would have done it any better..cheers mate hope we’ll be doing it again next season

Macguffin is quiet on the injury time penalty which cost him.

Firstly and most importantly a big thank you to homerjay, its not easy to keep a season long commitment.

Secondly, congratulations to libanski. They say the table doesn’t lie, so fair play to you.

Thirdly, bugger bugger bugger. I’m pissed over that last game and at myself. Most of my (winning) predictions have been 1-0. With libanski going for 2-0 it meant I had to go for 1-0 or 3-0 to leapfrog libanski on the last day.

Strangely for me I went for 3-0 instead of 1-0. I did that because of the inclusion of Martial Rashford. Then Martial pulled out. I was going to change my prediction but couldn’t be arsed. I think Martial pulled out to screw my prediction up (do we know the reason yet).

So the reason I blew my chance was because I went for an optimistic 3-0 instead of a pessimistic 1-0. Serves me right I guess, I think happyhurling must have given me a dose of something to make me expect a goal spree.

SUGGESTION – If, as I’m sure we will, do it again next season perhaps we should split it into 3 phases. I’m sure people dropped out (or didn’t join) because they had missed too many games and the table would lie. If we had separate summer, winter, squeaky bum phases it may increase participation.

@Wonderfuel – You used to call me the pervert now suddenly I’m the virgin. Jeez that’s a turnaround.

Macguffin-Regarding your dilemma over which result to choice. Uniteds results are so fuking hard to predict.

You may have finished second Macguffin, but the style of your predictions have been fuckin shit all season! You could easily have dropped more points, you really did scrape a few predictions you didn’t deserve.
I’d also like to point out that Homerjay, myself and Scholesy all have better style of predictions than you. Our predictions are much easier on the eye and i’m convinced we will overtake you next season. It’s just unfortunate that Scholesy took too long to get himself going, Homerjay had a big wobble and i struggled to get my new ways of predicting results to gel in the final stage of the season.
Yes, on paper, you’re second. But in terms of the journey – you’re miles behind us!

@homerjay540 – Well done in putting this together. I’ll have to try and not miss as many matches next year.

I did one at work where you just predicted the results (not correct score though) for the prem games each week. Came joint 1st in the end. I’ll be doing a World Cup one too.

@happyhurling – I assume your trying to draw a cryptic parallel between our prediction table and United’s 2nd place PL finish. Fair enough if you want to go down that road my finishing 2nd is not a stepping stone, I could easily finish 6th. next season. If my pre-match punditry was getting better and closer THEN you could infer I was making progress in my methodology and would be in with a better chance of being 1st. next year. But the truth is, I was not getting better, if anything I was getting worse !

And yes, Scholesy took a while to get going and homerjay had a wobble but they are both serious rivals who may not make the same mistakes next year. And for that reason, I won’t be hyping up my chances next season and writing them off.

You on the other hand are like Arsenal, a joke that will never be in the serious running because they’re living off past glories and failing to address the reality of their situation.

PS – At least I normally don’t just give a last minute prediction, I try to make an effort to give interesting punditry to make my posts entertaining even if it does take 90 minutes to read them!

No pressure Denis, but next season I’m going to put a tenner on each of your score predictions and we’ll see how I end up at the end of the season. Don’t you dare go rogue and send me up the garden path with daft scorelines.

Homerjay….well done on keeping the tally and thanks. Any reason not to extend it to cup games next season? I only say that as I think I’ve had about four correct scores in the cups and none in the league!

@Wonderfuel – Wouldn’t put me under pressure, I wouldn’t care how much you lost. A bit like Jose signing players with Glazer money hehehe.

It would be interesting to have it closer to betting where you can bet more or less depending on your degree of confidence. Makes it more difficult to organise but I dabble with systems software so can maybe knock something up over the summer. Its not as if I’ll be watching the world cup.

@steveosnakeeye – My point exactly. Ignore the reality, head in the sand and don’t talk about it.

A couple more years without trophies and CL revenues and you’ll be scrapping with West Ham for a Europe League place.

My God, Wonderfuel leaping to my defense. Whatever next. That’s it Tommy, give him what for.
