Exciting game currently on between Southampton and the Scousers. So far it’s rather even with the Saints edging it on forward impetus and they have rightfully taken the lead with a brilliant goal just seconds after Karius made a save that Neuer would be proud of.

Interesting game to watch considering Liverpool are coming to Old Trafford on Sunday.

Liverpools defence is bad as their kit.

Liverpool are being played off the park here and I really hope they bring this type of performance to Old Trafford. If it weren’t for Redmond’s careless finishing it would be 3-0 at half time.

I’m sure Klopp will give them a good rollicking at the break and they will bring up their intensity.

Either way it bodes well for us because they will definitely exert a lot more energy today while we strolled to our win yesterday – resting Zlatan and Carrick in the process.

@mufc. If I was a Pool fan that kit would have my eyes bleeding as well mate. It looks like it’s been stitched together using a steward’s jacket.

@sean. Yeah it is me mate. The site has just been having a bit of trouble with posts disappearing and avatars changing today.

Wow is this ref secretly a Liverpool fan? Tadic can’t win a foul despite him being wrestled to the ground each time.

Liverpool were crap today but I expect them to score more than one goal in the return leg

Some Liverpool fans are saying Sturridge is lazy and they are less dynamic when he plays.

Lpool players have run out of fuel this year. The players are very poor, Coutinhio just returned, Mane will be out for the whole month, many injuries and a ridiculous defence… How will we face Utd with all these disadvantages???

bad time to be facing united but in all honesty if your lads and the manager cant get up for this game then i think it goes deeper than the above. but i think it does highlight that Klopp has much work to do both on the first 11 and a better quality squad to cope with losses

The Liverpool at full strength are strong offensively but even at full strength there are question marks against the defence.

Last night they were missing 3 key players and Coutinho was only fit enough to be on the bench and that’s a problem for them plus their style of play is physically draining and the best 10 outfield players will struggle to maintain that level of physicality through a whole season.

If Klavan plays v United it could be a real problem for them.

The fact Liverpool have stuttered in their last few games has zero bearing on Sunday. Form goes completely out of the window. Besides, as I alluded to in another thread, Liverpool under Klopp are notorious for slipping up against the lesser sides, only to turn it on when it really matters. I still think it will be very close on Sunday. I also think Liverpool will sail through to the final regardless of last night’s result.

i dont agree chris, utd will be going in full of confidence and we wont. Firminio, can, origi etc are playing no were near the level they can in recent weeks. We are full of mistakes and we are missing a few players. I just cant see us getting anything at all and if we play like last night then we will be hammered.

i dont agree about klavan nine. He made a few mistakes last few games but he was mom againest everton and didnt give lackau a sniff. Augero didnt get a sniff either and either did negredo. He has done quite well since he came in but last night, like everyone, he was terrible.

its easy to play againest us as jose and southampton have shown. You get your full backs to tuck in and your wide men to act as full backs and just wait for us to make a mistake. We have no answer to getting by teams that set up that way. Our general play has been very poor in the last three games. I cant see us creating much againest utd as they will be so well orgainsed.

we are blessed to be still in the carling cup. Souhtampton were much better and 3-0 would have been a more then fair scoreline. we really got away with it last night. Its as bad as we have been under klopp. Maybe we are running out of steam already. We run so much that maybe the players are wrecked already????

Liverpool just lacked energy last night. They missed the pace and work rate of Henderson and Mane up top. 2 key players throughout the season.

I wonder if the Pool things is a bit like the Spud thing, namely that first season of aggressive pressing style of football does just knacker the team out, regardless of pre-season. Spurs dropped off in the first Poncho season, perhaps the same is happening with Pool?
