In my brief time here I really appreciated Spodge as a fellow poster…remember him being one of the few balanced and positive voices after we lost 1 nil to Villarreal last season as I am sure he has done on many other occasions

I know what you mean, Rob. The way that Billy Wright was made to look such a mug by Puskas at that very same ground in 1953, shouldn’t warrant him having his picture in the tunnel/dressing room area.

I don´t think Coutinho will leave until after he has fulfilled his potential here at Anfield. He wants a lasting legacy and delivering the title to Anfield is the way to go about it.

Just popped by and gleaned the news about Spodge. Have to say that somewhere in my dim memory of Houllier’s tenure I made my first post on the old site, Spodge was my very first respondent. Top guy and a gentleman to boot.

Coutinhos just scored a wonderful goal for Brazil against Argentina. Can we still keep him?

I think (hope) it would only be Barca he would leave for, possibly Real if they were able to. A big offer, to clubs like those would be difficult for him to ignore. I would optimistically like to think he would not go to another EPL team. If he does got to Barca we should demand a shit tonne of cash, plus Suarez!

Doubt he’d leave until the season ends at the very least though.

Would he get game time at Barca? Who would he replace in that team?

Sean I think Pogba will be a success at Man UTD once he settles in. Liverpool try and get £100m if he does go though.

VA: Couldn’t you have just kept quiet about it and hope that nobody noticed!

Seriously, though, I wish he’d just stop doing that sort of thing on one of the world’s biggest footballing stages. He needs to save those sort of goals for an injury time winner at the proverbial “cold, wet, Tuesday night in Stoke”.

I don´t make a general habit of talking up moves for players but I´ll tell you what about Coutinho, he seems finally ready to be a leader. I think in the next two years he will be on the forefront of our attack leading, the team to glory. If he can deliver, he will witness stardom like no player has. He will eclipse Messi and Ronaldo, Suarez will be a forgotten man. If not its back to the drawing board as I think he would leave for pastures greener.

Next problem is, can we get him and Firmino back in time to be fit and ready for the Southampton game. Brazil play at 2.45am on Wednesday. Klopp doesn’t normally like risking players after the ordeal of a long journey and international game. Their omission will definitely be costly. I fear, if we lose momentum in this title race, there are too many teams on our tail, waiting to overtake us. Interesting 8 days ahead! If we win at Southampton, we will definitely qualify for the CL at the very least.

Yeh VA I think our run might end against Southampton. They are a good team and usually give us hard games.

That game sums up why we have more chance of flying to mars than we do of winning the league title. Reality check delivered for all those who were getting carried away.

You don’t win titles with Lucas as a centre back.

I think today’s result further shows what an important player Matip has been for us.

In the premier league, with Matip in the team: played 11 conceded 9.
Without Matip: played 3 conceded 9.

Another top class centerback, perhaps Virgil Van Dijk, has to be our priority in January.

I´m really interested to see what happens with our defending situation in January, I know that a forward is of priority but another centerback is needed. Especially with Sakho out there in the cold… Which is another story.

On top of that JC we still haven´t lost with Matip in the side.

    That one really hurt yesterday…

First thing we have to remember is that it was a shock result – a big shock, based on how the game was going. So not all doom and gloom.

Individual mistakes cost us – again. Lovren’s weak header to Milner which led to the penalty was so avoidable. We know this type of error is in Lovren’s locker as he’s shown it many times. If we could raid Soton one more time for Van Dijk, I’d be a happy man.

Origi scored but I still don’t rate him – yet(?). How or why he didn’t head the ball that led to their equaliser – I don’t know. He’s one of a few players on our team who would rather play non-contact football….which leads me to …

Hendo. So far, his running and (decent) passing have seen him look quite good so far. But sadly, if you have a DM that is afraid of physical contact, you’re gonna pay for it at some point. Once things got a bit sticky, our leader started to retreat into his shell again – ducking out of headers and leaving the ball to his team mates and/or passing backwards. He really should have blocked Ake from getting to the rebound but he just doesn’t think that way….which leads me to…

Karius…I’m not filled with confidence with him. I’m hoping that it’s just early nerves – time will tell.

Lucas…Why? We had Klavan on the bench and he’s a natural CB (not to mention Sakho).

Hard to criticise Klopp as I think he’s got us performing beyond the sum of our parts. But honestly, we need a CB, LB and DM. Our back 4 had 2 midfielders in it yesterday and that is wrong. And on any given day, we start with only 3 naturally defence minded players (Lovren, Clyne, Matip/Lucas), so it’s no suprise we concede so many.

To think we’ve lost to Burnley and Bournemouth is simply bizarre. But let’s just hope it’s a blip and we can carry on as we have all season…Peace

That was a shock. I really thought the 3rd goal would be enough but we just couldn’t cope with Bournemouth’s energy in the final 15 minutes. This really reminded me of the Palace game.

Hopefully the players, and Klopp too, will remember this and stay focussed when we are in similar positions in future games and not let this slip again.
