With his brace during the week, and by virtue of being the only fit striker, Ayoze will start up front. Diame will be tucked in just behind. Rafa might be tempted to bring in Gouff as a striker. And Arma will surely get some game time. Tiote/Gouff/Anita are in the exact same situation. They’ve been told they can leave, but they have been unable to find a suitable deal for themselves. I have no issue with Gouff and Anita seeing out the rest of their contracts here. But Tiote, he’s not bringing anything to the team at the moment, so the sooner he leaves, the better it it. Sissoko vs Gini? Gini will be better this season, Liverpool are better staffed than us to bring the best out of him. So as you nufc.com.au, I would have kept Gini. @Vodka, I know I’m getting carried away by the young lads, please bear with me. For me, seeing an academy player become a first teamer is an immense pleasure. My team: Darlow (gk), Sterry (rb), Mbemba (cb), Lascelles (cb), Dummett (lb), Hayden (dm), Clark (dm), Diame (am), Ritchie (lm), Anita (rm), Ayoze (st).

@tooner, yes having sterry in the squad is great, but yedlin and anita are ahead of him, and rightly so. Should play strongest team possible against Brighton, darlow anita mbemba lascelles dummett Ritchie shelvey diame hayden perez Armstrong. What ever happened to Sammy ameobi?

Claerly no one is going to buy Sissokok for £35 mill and we’ll be stuck with a player who doesn’t want to be here. Rafa must ne aware of that so Lord knows what the game plan is. Vodka_ Sammy is struggling to make an impact in Cardiff where he is mostly on the bench.

I kinda liked Sammy, good ball control, pity he didn’t do well at Cardiff, problems with medication or some shit, pity. Sissoko is a difficult transfer, you see other players like bolasie, benteke going for 30mil odd, so you would think what’s the problem with 35mil?, maybe sissokos demands with wages signing in fee etc

On Sissoko, many are waiting to make a last bid hours before the transfer deadline. They want him at a bargain price, the player will review his wages in order to get the deal through. And they anticipate we will as well reduce our price. On Sammy, he had a perfect opportunity at Cardiff, but failed to make the most of it. There’s still a future for him, but time is running out for premier league. @Vodka, for the game against Brighton, it’s really coin toss between Anita and Sterry. On experience, Anita edges Sterry. Yedlin, too soon to call into action. But long term, it should be Yedlin vs Sterry at rb.

Nah- Entertooner: Rafa has previously indicated that such brinkmanship negotiating tactics won’t wash and that we want the full £35 mill. I think there is a serious risk we’ll be stuck with Sissoko. Add to that Mitrovic and Tiote and it’s quite a clump of deadwood to lop off.

Maybe you right, yedlin and sterry for the long term, I still would give anita a one year extention, rotate him with yedlin this season, sterry as back up. Has anyone seen this lazaar dude, never heard of him, only 5 caps for Morocco, dosent sound fantastic?, and atsu on loan from Chelsea, surely he isn’t worse than Aarons, Aarons has been poor for us, and now injured once again, not good. Any thoughts on oliver Burke, he looks like the new Steve mcmanaman to me

Big game today, important game, going into the international break with a win would be extremely good for team confidence. I’m abit nervous, slightly jealous watching the europa league draw, we have to get back up there, hopefully rafa can really change us for the better. Good luck lads, and score a shit load pls

Well with this Lafaaz coming in we have a proper lb which means no Dummett at lb which is perfect. No disrespect to Dummett as he is decent enough there but he us better at CD in my opinion, which now means with Haidara coming back we have great cover across the full back four.

Looks like Rafa is getting in the final pieces to his team set up and the team is now finally taking shape in his vision.

As regards the striker situation, heres a real wild idea that could be a doozie. Bring in Ballotelli on loan. Liverpool don’t want him, everyone else has forgotten he’s still there, but hey for one season he could be worth a gamble. Can’t be anymore of a risk than Mitro

Good win, we in 4th spot now. Mavii, have you seen this lazaar play before?, maybe he is actually worse than dummett. Ballotelli is an interesting one, let me say that I would rather have him than daryl Murphy. I don’t agree in buying Murphy at all, talking about a 5mil transfer, I wouldn’t buy that player foe that amount, maybe on a free transfer, one year contract to help the squad to get out the league, but really, to pay money for him, I don’t get it, I would rather play Armstrong, put him on every game for the last 10-15 min, it’s ridiculous, I don’t agree

Vodka = remember the time you used to bang on about set pieces? Now we’re banging them in. Think most of our goals have come from set pieces.

That’s a good thing Joe, simple things make a difference, like a right back that actually defends. Next thing is the simple throw in, try and retain the ball, sounds fucking easy, but you will be surprised.

Vodka – janmaats gone, get over it. But as your asking, probably the same amount of clean sheets we had when your fave Captain Collo was playing. But its funny how when everyone last season were pointing out similar stats with Collo at the helm you weren’t interested in stats. Hmmmmmmmm, but you want us all to look at your stats now because it suits your argument.

By the way how many games have we won because we kept a clean sheet this season? But of course again last season you weren’t interests in defense and keeping clean sheets, now all of a sudden you are interested in clean sheet and coming up with a scapegoat. So hypocritical you can be sometimes.

Seems to me that we have both attack and defence doing there jobs.
No collo or Taylor in the team and we have clean sheets. Or when we concede we don’t give up anymore.
We have a new striker who wants to prove himself and he is scoring.
Rafa has galvanised the team to play together.

How great is it finally scoring from set pieces – powerful headers of the ball coming from CB, and players who can score a direct freekick. Not since be had Cabaye, Ba and Cisse have we had this selection. Keep getting freekicks in good spots and between Gayle, Shelvey and Richie we can SCORE!

As has been pointed out, the back 5 (inc keeper) is now almost set. Good cover across all competitions, BUT it will be interesting how these players go IF and WHEN we get promoted. Willo, Perch, Simpson were all good in the championship – how about in the EPL….Anita, Dummy and some of the new players may be the same. Anyway, doesnt matter, let just concentrate on this year eh?

The Murphy one is weird, is he really any better then Riviere? Surely he will leave the moment Murphy is confirmed. I dont expect him to start many games, but I guess f he can score 8-10 goals playing 20 mins a game then it would be a big success. Hopefully Armstrong can go in the other direction and flourish

A good win, against a team I feel will be in the promotion mix. Yedlin and Lazaar have much in common, fast athletic fullbacks. Which confirms that Rafa will utilise Clark more at CB than at left back. As well, I won’t be surprised we accept a last day offer for Dummett. Murphy? Loads of experience at this level, and can score plenty given appropriate service. Oh, special kudos to Gouff.

Hear that Juventus have made a 15 mill offer for or Sissoko. If we could nudge it up a bit more we should take it. Yes well done the Gouffran but the rumours are that he’s heading to L’ Orient.

15m for Sissoko is funny. It might be 15m straight cash, plus add-ons and future payments. Now we have Murphy in, Riviere will be the next one to depart. I was talking to an uncle, a ManU fan, about the overhaul Rafa brought to Newcastle. He told me, any team dumping 15 players is bound to have slow starts, whilst the squad settles. Tiote is in Istanbul, and possibly Gouff leaving -> 18 players out, 11 players in. Once we settle into stride, we will be hard to beat.
