Not good enough. Just ball watching when the 2nd ball fell to okazaki. Somebody more defensive minded would not let okazaki free in acres of space in front of the penalty box.

I really hope klopp ends this experiment of playing henderson in the holding role in january and i say january because unfortunately We havent got anyone else that can play there until we get new signings in january.

He should have ended it this summer and sorted the defence too. If we were a bucket that went into the repair shop in June, we’ve come out with a nice new handle but the same old holes.

A title challenge was in our grasp, with the right signings but I think I can already write this off if I’m honest. It’s too early to write off 4th of course but we don’t look up to it so far. I’m just not looking forward to seeing us play at the moment and this is not how it should be when you have gone into a summer with EVERYTHING in our favour. We had the money, we had the manager, we had the CL football and as a result of all of that good stuff, we had the player draw. WHY THE **** DO WE NOT NOW HAVE THE PLAYERS!?

The summer drove me nuts like none other and now I’m just detached if I’m honest. I feel like I’m looking at Klopp and his team and saying to myself “well, why is this a surprise?”.

Last season, when this started happening I remember saying on here that it was just a small blip, then that we were to be soon out of it. . but ultimately it swallowed our season.

He is in a run of bad form just like the rest of the team. But I think we all need to accept that Klopp isn’t going to sign a specialist defensive mid. Would I sign one, hell yeh, as sometimes you need them he ain’t gonna do it but eventually (next season) our midfield will be upgraded and Henderson will either have to accept a reduced squad role or he’ll move on.

That being said, no one has really been great in this position including Can. I would have given Milner a go there but worry about his lack of pace (he’s slower than Henderson) although he has good stamina.

MrMak as far as challenging for the title this season i.e to be n the title race with maybe one month to go in the season (i never expect us to win..but just be in the title race), this season is a write off already.

At least last season we were in the mix right up to January.

Bob, Klopp played Sven Bender as a defensive midfielder in his dortmund team. I will be very surprised if henderson retain his holding midfield role next season. Surely klopp has realised hes not up to it

Reds agree but I think it will be more of an all rounder like Henderson (but more consistent and better at tackling!)

The hope is that Klopp is using his time so far to see who is basically useless. Moreno, Lovren, Henderson, Sturridge, Flanagan all can go now. I would class Can, Gomez, Mignolet Gini as playing for their futures. That’s in effect almost a team that isn’t up to the task. If Klopp hasn’t noticed the first list of players are dog muck then I have to say I’m very concerned for the future of the club.

Jordan Horrenderson has been average since the day he arrived. Every now and then he finds a little above-average form but it’s rare. The main problem is that he is captain. His ‘best’ position was as a more attacking midfielder but he wasn’t good enough to make it his own. I don’t know how many other captains in the league are actually played out of their natural/best position but there is something very wrong about that – esp for us.

Let’s be honest, if the game is tight or we’re losing, who even expects Henderson to do anything about it? We may get extra ‘pointing’ at best but he doesn’t rally the troops or lead by example. I’m always fascinated that when we concede goals, Hendo, as our deepest midfielder, is often nowhere near the play.

He really does nothing more than can be expected of an average player. His lack of courage probably irks me the most. He is terrified of aerial challenges and will either let a high ball just fall to the ground, or ‘pretend’ to make a challenge (not even aware of where the ball is). He jumps out of 50/50 tackles regularly and will nearly always defer responsibilty of the ball if a team mate is anywhere near (esp if we’re not winning). When teams run at us, he doesn’t pressure the player with the ball. The player runs, he runs. Player stops, he stops – but Hendo’s about 3 yards away from him and refuses to get physical. Drives me crazy! Or his other trick where he ‘acts’ like he’s closing down someone but runs (at top speed)right past them, the ball and almost off the pitch…conveniently now unable to stop the attack but ‘looking’ like he has just tried his best. He’s a joke….Peace

Agreed Davinci. He’s not a bad footballer and we all love his commitment. Some people think Klopp is going to unlock something special in Henderson but I think he has peaked. This is what we are going to get, someone who plays it safe 90 percent of the time and doesn’t have any real game-changing top-level abilities. Is he really any better than Danny Drinkwater? Don’t get me wrong these types of players can be useful as a backup off the bench ‘Lucas style’ he should never be the first choice. We got Keita we need players who are a similar type.

I love the way people on here label players as dog muck, and useless, or clueless, there was a great point made on one of the football podcasts this week, that in fact no player that you see playing football at a professional level is in fact a bad player, some have some low points, some drops in form, or even some clubs where it just doesn’t quite come together, but there are no bad players in the Prem and the level between Prem players and even some in League 1, 2 and some amateur players is not that great. I think the reason it was bought up was because Ryan Babel scored at the weekend and he is back in the Holland squad, yet most people had forgotten about him. The fact still remains, none of these are bad players.

Paxman, I suppose these terms are somewhat relative, mainly in terms of your aspirations for your team. If you are a team with just a desire to stay in the Prem, then maybe players at Hendo’s level are ok. They can probably get you the 40 points you need to stay up.

But if you have title ambitions, or at least top 4 and are in the CL, Hendo’s level is sub-standard. He wouldn’t get into any of the other top 6 teams as a regular starter.

His abilities as a footballer and esp as captain are just not good enough. I have no issue with him in the squad to fill in for injuries/suspensions or to use up injury time at the end of the game. But he shouldn’t be starting. He actually makes things harder for us to be successful….Peace

Not so kind comments here re. Lucas and Milly / but both a damn sight better than Hendo cos they tackle and get stuck in !!
Shame Lucas went without a replacement as our defensive crisis looms again.
Funny also that Lazio are having a better time this year with Lucas playing. He was a major contributor to 4th place and league cup run.
We miss Milly when he doesn’t play too !
    Hendo – no thanks !!

I have said it often & still think that Lucas was not a tackler, he could read the game very well & intercept passes, how many time did posters come on here saying Lucas gives too many fowls in dangerous positions, it was he couldn’t tackle.

I was first on here while Lucas was in the reserves, saying he wouldn’t make it, I was wrong, he had some very good seasons for us before his injuries took its toll.

Liverlad – you need to look at Lucas stats for tackles and interceptions – point is – he and Milner are both better than Hendo !
hendo’s passing stats look good because it’s usually a safe ineffective option. His tackling stats though don’t lie. 0 tackles in 2nd half v Citeh !!!?????

on the main LFC website you can look at player stats.
Can and Hendo have similar minutes played but Can has FAR better stats than Hendo ( avoid comparing by % though as Hendo has fewer numbers in his stats so % are misleading)
hendo is way down for no. duels, Tackles won, etc.
Trouble is Gini Winaldum is even lower than Hendo!
The Ox also has better stats than Hendo

Paxman, pure horseshit. Henderson has been poor for at least the last two years. Sturridge hasn’t played for the last three so he’s hardly world class. Lovren costs us on average a goal every other game and Moreno is pure clueless. If you see quality in any of these players I hope you don’t drive a lot.
