I had big hopes for this kid but he really seems to have lost his way. Looks like Klopp was right to get rid.

I had high hopes for him too…looked a beast at 17! Remember when he came back from
The derby loan, he played the Merseyside derby and just looked on fire!! Not sure what happened…remember being very excited at him spending extra time at Melwood with king kenny over a summer to work on his shooting.

To me though, Ibe certainly appeared a confidence player (as many players, especially forwards, tend to be). I’m not sure that being touted as an immediate replacement (and improvement on sterling), a big money move with the pressure that brings, followed by not making the team in the premiership and being robbed at gunpoint in the past few months would have done much for his confidence. Not sure that what Howe had to say would be much help either, but I didn’t watch the game and have no idea how “disappointing” Ibe has been this season or in that particular match.

Also though shanks you’re right there that it looks like Klopp made the correct call. It’s good that we also got a sell on clause (and buy back I think), in case he turns it around and fulfills his potential.

We got some decent dough out of him from his transfer, but I felt he was played out of position under Rodgers. He was suited better in the middle than the right flank.

Sorry spamming!! Doesn’t Ibe live in London, despite playing for Bournemouth? They’re not very close….

Another youngster who put money and lifestyle, ahead of career.

You’re right Ian, there is a buyback clause but I don’t think we’ll be activating it mate.

I always thought Ibe was a bit over rated, so many here hyped him up to be at the same level as Sterling. I like the lad he got potential but he is a crafter, not natural talent, which is evident by his final touch.

It looks like Howe is losing his cool, he should be embarrassed by this comment…

Excellent deal by Liverpool to sell him at a highly inflated price then!!!

What a stupid comment to make, this is really going to help a younger players confidence & get him to raise his game. Wouldn’t you just say your hoping he finds his form as you need players with his qualities at their best to help the team.
Maybe JC is right & he just put the coin ahead of his career & the coaching staff are sick of him.

Ibe always struck me as a better full back/wingback. As soon as he was pushed further up top there was a hype of expectation, and he flattered to deceive. Is he a more of a failed winger hence better adopted at full back??

JC, according to what I’ve read, that’s the problem. His eye isn’t really on the game. He doesn’t see to care too much. Hopefully he gets it together.

Not only was Ibe pitched to be the next big thing, but so was Brad Smith at one point (possibly as moreno was so bad). Both seem to have vanished at Bournemouth, so a good couple of deals done by klopp.

I did put on a thread about our youngsters not doing well over a month ago, Ibe, Smith & Flanaghan, not one person came back with a reply.

liverlad, they are not our youngsters anymore, including Flanagan, who is more likely than not to be sold – with Alexander-Arnold taking his place
