I know with Matip signing were probably going to release one defender as we have at least two young future prospects in Ilori and Gomez, Lovren, Sakho, and Matp… At the moment its more likely to be Kolo to leave seeing as Skrtel signed a contract extension last summer but with Kolo recent displays is it necessarily a certainty that Kolo should go? I like Kolo and he seems to look after himself even at his grand age. Both Kolo and Skrtel make errors but I prefer Kolo because he is far more vocal and communicates better. Ultimately its up to Klopp.
February 18, 2016 at 8:42 pm #872368Martin Skrtel.
February 18, 2016 at 10:08 pm #872668Skrtel. I’m warming to Toure, and Skrtel just doesn’t do it for me
February 18, 2016 at 10:09 pm #872671Haha,that sounds like I’m talking about which one I’d rather date lol
February 18, 2016 at 11:04 pm #872749Does sound a bit like that ST but know what you mean! Back to the footballing side… I agree, I’d rather keep Toure as a senior influence. I’ve never been a fan of Skrtel. Not saying that he doesn’t have great games or good periods but overall, too many errors and not a leader.
That said, can’t really knock the lad in the sense that he tries his best.February 19, 2016 at 7:10 am #872890Think Toure has played with more consistency recently but out of the 2 I’d go for Martin as backup due to age and I think he is the better defender now kolo is on the twighlight of his career.
Lovren should also be looked at, think he has been better this season but want to see if he can fulfil the promise a lot of us thought he had when he came.
February 19, 2016 at 7:23 am #872902we probably can’t afford to keep Kolo considering his age and that he’s not going to play a lot, a coaching role wouldn’t be the worst thing, I wouldn’t mind if we got rid of Lovren too
Matip,Sakho,Skrtel,Gomez and Llori doesn’t look too bad
February 19, 2016 at 7:55 am #872953Skirtel cxan be good and bad but if one has to go it has to be Kolo has he is coming onto 36. Skirtel is only 30.
Still be good to keep Kolo around as there is no doubt he is good to have around. I thought he outstanding last night and has been a free good trasnsfer on a free. He has never let us down
February 19, 2016 at 8:13 am #872992Agreed with Sean, age wise you have to get rid of Kolo, skrtles form this season has been patchy at best, but that might be all the changes that have been happening at CB, that is one department where you really need a settled line up so the 2 CB get an understanding.
February 19, 2016 at 8:14 am #872995Stick with Skertel.
February 19, 2016 at 8:36 am #873046Between Kolo and Skrtel, I will give up Kolo because of his age.
I feel that Skrtel & Matip has the same strength & same weakness. Both of them can defend under a nearly no cover suitation, with least help from other teammates. Both have a weakness of trying to do too much work, thus making themselves look like an error prone. Can they partner well? I don’t know.
February 19, 2016 at 11:11 am #873406Just read an interview with Jan Molby, and he thinks that Matip’s arrival will mean one of Skrtel,Toure or Sakho will be moved on. For me,I’m surprised he didn’t mention Lovren. I’d rather move him and Skrtel on,and keep Sakho.
I think Sakho gets a lot of unfair criticism. He may look a bit like Djimi Traore at times, but he’s very good at winning the ball, his passing is very accurate,he’s good in the air. He’s our best CB for me
February 19, 2016 at 11:46 am #873484ST completely agree that Sakho is our best defender, he needs a calm composed defender alongside him so that he can do the dirty work, someone who will cover him when he gets out of position to get the ball but doesn’t…Skrtel and Lovren are not this type of partner, don’t know enough about Matip to say whether he will be
February 19, 2016 at 12:12 pm #873553Nocturnal_red I agree that Sakho needs someone calm next to him. Skrtel,Lovren and Toure will never be that, all 3 too rash for me. Illori? Who knows. Klopp will definitely need to find the right combination. With Mignolet looking like being our number 1 for the foreseeable,it’s vital that the CBs next season are solid,as Mignolet can’t be trusted
February 20, 2016 at 6:33 pm #875485We need to keep Skrtel and Toure but Kolo in a coaching role and Skrtel as a player as he adds so much in an attacking sense. He has a presence others fear unlike Kolo.nJust ask Fiteh !
in long term would love to see Ilori, Gomez and Matip as three for the future but wouldn’t duscount playing Lucas there if we find a DM to sit in front ala Mascherano !February 20, 2016 at 6:34 pm #875491sorry * just ask Citeh !
February 20, 2016 at 6:43 pm #875512I agree skrtel could be coach but he’s still young…kolo is old man and more likely to be tempted by coaching…
February 25, 2016 at 11:20 pm #884308Im still leaning to let Skrtel go. For me Skrtel is a good old fashioned centre back but he rarely instigates attacking moves which Kolo is better at. Also the way Lucas has been playing lately at centre back maybe we can afford to keep Lucas as one of the backup centre backs / midfielders. Its all speculation, knowing Klopp he may get rid of all three lol!
March 21, 2016 at 5:49 pm #930815Skrtel should go,but probably won’t. It’ll be Toure instead
March 21, 2016 at 6:18 pm #930830How about letting both go, and be left with Lovren, Sakho, Matip and Gomez fighting for 2 places, plus any other new signing?
Kolo can remain as a coach, if he wants and if a vacancy arises
