Klopp put us all out of our misery by moving Can out of the back line (although it was the right centre back Can we saw for chunks of his game last night) and now Klopp must put us all out of our misery a second time and take Allen to the pastures. I’m sorry, what is he? I’m not talking about, defensive mid or attacking mid I’m talking about bus conductor, librarian, Skipton Castle tour guide, Golden Goal ticket seller? He ain’t a footballer that’s for sure. Last night was like watching one of my U11 boys out there. Well, that’s disrespectful to my U11’s as they can tackle, pass and shoot whereas Joe Bloody Allen cannot really do any of those. A sweet TEN YARD pass every now and then does not justify him wearing a Liverpool jersey and collecting 40 grand or whatever every week, yes, every week, Joe Allen! The way Rubin skated past him (and Can, he’s not getting away with it either) last night was excruciating to watch. Even when Allen did get the ball he had no plan and often gave it straight back hence Lucas coming on; Klopp had seen enough. I just cannot stand Allen, I can’t, sorry. He seems a nice bloke, but I want a nasty SOB in the engine room not an IT officer for the local council. He’s been here four years and has achieved sod all stat wise, four years! I giggled a tad before kick off when the camera went down the line of players and nice full head and shoulder shots of Migs, Skrtel, Can and then without the camera moving down, the top of Allen’s head. The camera was then put in toddler mode and we then got mean Joe Allen with his mean looking Pirlo beard. It gave me goose bumps, brr, shiver. I don’t like to wade in on individuals but my day would be all over the shop if I didn’t vent early doors. On your bloody bike Allen, please. In fact, sod the bike, just stay home and make scones all day.

Bit harsh on last nights performance Rob.Not his biggest fanI thought he passed it well enough but again let us down defensively with missed tackle after missed tackle.Kazan players were just running past him.I thought Milner was as bad if not worse. He seems lost at the moment.

Agree. Allen is not and has not been good enough since he was signed. I couldn’t believe we paid £15m for him at the time, and I still can’t now. He offers very little to the side, can’t tackle, doesn’t score enough goals. He’s another Rodgers signing that hasn’t worked out, along with the likes of Borini, Aspas, Lovren etc. Get rid Jurgen! Hopefully, if and when Brendan gets another job, he will take Allen with him. Fingers crossed!

badger, he was awful, let’s not kid ourselves here. You say passed it well, I rarely saw that and if he did pass it well then it was to the nearest red shirt which is just a pass, a mandatory requirement of any player, but ‘well’ passes are penetrating ones and he never bloody makes ’em. I don’t mean continuous killer balls but ones that at least put the receiving player in a outnumbering situation. I laughed at his excuse for being subbed because he was on yellow. What garbage. Why didn’t Klopp sub Skrtel then because he got booked too in the first half? No more excuses badger. We’re sucking in a bad Europa league bracket and half way down the Premiership table and the likes of Joe Allen ain’t gonna help us improve. We either kid glove this like Brendan often did and be average for an eternity or say ‘right, that’s it, no more passengers’ and get back to a competing level.

Allen isn’t a bad footballer, he’s just not a very good one either.
£15mil wasted on what is an average squad player.
    Chased shadows last night.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he was culled in Jan/summer.

Funny badge! No, last night I just reached my threshold with him. Still the same old Rob from Texas but a less tolerant one especially with passenger players.

I’d give him away free, to anyone who wants him.

I’d even drive him there myself, and even clean out the boot of my car first!

I’ve said for a while Allen was a very average player & got replies like “he recycles the ball well” & “he keeps the game flowing for our offence” so I’m glad reality is hitting these pages.
Another reality check is despite Klopp being one of the top managers in a World football & the man I think can get us challenging again, Liverpool will finish in a Europa position at best this season. We have a bang average squad that despite spending an absolute fortune on is in dire need of an almost complete overhaul, with the useless Allen leading the charge of duds swiftly out the exit door. (Aussie).

I never rated him either Aussie.

He was a perfect indicator of how far out of his depth Brendan Rodgers actually was. To pay so much for a bang average player who didn’t improve our squad, let alone our starting 11- just showed what Rodgers true level was.

It’s bloody frustrating Beni, Rodgers had an absolute fortune to spend & to think we basically need an overhaul again is disappointing at best.
If Klopp gets half the bling Rodgers got I think we will be right up there once again.

I have never rated Slow Joe one little bit for the day he arrived, he in my mind is a posing player, one who thinks he is better than he is after being buttered up by Brendan. Always does short passes and more often than not puts this player under pressure, cannot tackle, gets pushed off the ball. He should have been booted out 2 seasons ago.

Milner is able to compete. Allen offers little, save fulfilling the basic requirements and is subsequently just too annoying to watch. I would also like to see improvement from Can. When he was played in defense, I thought he was potentially exposed unless played centrally. He’s not a mobile player and he seems to over commit himself at times. He seems to be lacking game discipline but perhaps a more settled and defined role will overcome that. At the moment he reminds me of Jan Molby but with attention deficit disorder.

Agreed, Allen doesn’t offer enough. But do we really need an overhaul?? Cull the expendables and the unreliables….Allen….Sturridge and the like and start slowly targeting quality players who are going to come in and be “point of difference” players and give stability. Clyne may be seen as “average” but is extremely effective in a Steve Finnan kind of way. This player type along with “inspired/point of difference types” gives essential balance that all successful teams require.

Allen can look okay against some teams but they don’t have strong midfield players. Ironic that Joe looked poorest against Chelsea considering their form this year and the likes of Matic who would go past him easily with some power.
I really have to ask where all the Lucas haters have gone as he is the one midfielder who contributes significantly ( well apart from goals obviously!). Rafa believed in him, BR didn’t really but now I feel under Jurgen he has the chance tobe valued and really move back to previous levels.

Golden years, maybe not a complete overhaul but looking at our squad there needs to be quite a few ins & outs if we are to be competetive. Look at us now with Sturridge out, we can’t score goals. Benteke was being used very badly by Rodgers IMO so hopefully Klopp can find a way of maximising his ability & the goals will come. Firminho is another example of Rodgers not having a clue how to play him so hopefully he will also add to the attacking threat. Sakho is going good at the back but we need another defender. The whole team just looked so imbalanced under Rodgers so it will take time to get things working well.
I do believe Klopp is the man to do it but I honestly think we can write this season off as far as top 4 goes as it will take time to implement his ideas properly. Our only saviour is no other teams are really putting their hands up but you can see Arsenal & city starting to get fluent again, something that is a long way off for us.
Maybe better luck with injuries could turn it around quicker but I won’t hold my breath.
