Klopp isnt one to blame the ref after every game and so you know its true when he mentions it. The ref bought every dive by the West Ham players. They were hitting the ground with minimal or no contact what so ever. It was a very weak display from the officials. The “foul” that lead to West Hams winning goal was just one example of a complete joke of a decision where absolutely minimal contact was made and the West Ham player threw himself to the floor. Valencia and Kouyate were particularly guilty. Also should we mention that the goal scorer should have been sent off? Studs up challenge shin high on Stewart (could have been straight red) and then pulls Benteke back as he ran towards goal (should have been second yellow). Overall we were beaten by a mixture of poor finishing (again) and the officials poor decision making.

If he had been a good ref they would have had a penalty during the 90 mins & we wouldn’t have made it to extra time. We can only blame our finishing & defending…yet again.

West Ham had a clear cut pen denied and illori should have been sent off. No one to blame but ourselves. Bad finishing and bad defending but it was a much better performance then previous games.

Arserne Wenger always blames the ref when his ream loses! Yes even if a ref makes one or two mistakes in favour of the opposition, there are 90 minutes to be played not 2!!!

Since the appointment of Klopp we have seen massive improvements in individuals, however now following the honeymoon period we can see the limitations of many individuals where the consistency and improvement has hit a brick wall. For me you could argue that we’ve played a huge amount of games through December and January however the game last night further highlighted the limitations of the individuals in question.

Mignolet is horrendous and sends nerves throughout the team whichever personnel we deploy in the back 4, we could have john terry in there and he’d still will find away to rack their confidence. He flaps that much im surprised he doesn’t take off, we definitely need a replacement in the summer if we are to progress up the table.

Now for all the criticism Bentekke is receiving (and justified too) you cannot ignore the fact that his influence on the game improved following the introduction of Origi and Sturridge. Please note i am fuming that he missed 5, . but i can’t let my anger cloud the interplay and cohesion i saw last night with those three in attack. We all have off days and with bentekke we could see his luck change now Origi and Sturridge have returned to the fold. He clearly thrives from players with effective and direct movement.

The alarming observation i made from last night’s game is the fact that Origi and sturridge are nowhere near 100% fit and they offered more in attack over 60mins against a strong west ham side away from home, than Lallana, Ibe and Milner have during Klopps Reign… i have to be honest Ibe was shocking yet again and milner had little influence on the game when he came on, in fact we missed Chirvella when he went off.

Chrivella for me needs an extensive run in the first team, the two games i have seen him play for us he has showed distinct class. His range of passing, positional play and reading of the game especially in attack isn’t to be under estimated. I think he could compliment a Midfield 3 with Allen and Can during Henderson’s recovery.

with regards to Smith i would also like to see him have an extensive run of games, i have liked the improvement of moreno, however with smiths height and defensive skill set he offers better defensive cover especially on set pieces. he won every front post header that came in from the left and if played each week we could see a reduction of goals conceded from corners.

Lucas had a quality game last night, and to be honest i get the impression Klopp is transitioning Lucas’s in becoming a centre halfCB he had a tremendous game last night and wasn’t phased in dealing with Carroll he could be an effective partner for either skertal or Caulker in the closing months. to be Fair Illori looked good too.

The replay should not have taken place to begin with. Had Klopp played his best team in the first leg we would probably have won. Playing a reserve team against West Ham is madness and our exit last night surprised few people other than die hard fans, th egame should have been won at Anfield. There was no point during the 3 and a half hours played when we were ahead and beforehand we were lucky to get through during the first leg against Exeter due to the same policy. Yes some of the kids played well but sadly I suspect if Klopp employs the same policy for the Europa we will again go out before the final.

I for one hope Klopp reconsiders his play the reserves policy for cups because we are desperate for silverware and should be fielding our strongest teams for these crucial matches

timetogobr, Liverpool had to play 9 games in 29 days by 30 Jan, when the FA Cup match with West Ham at Anfield was held. Besides, the League Cup semi-final on 26-Jan went to penalty shootout had definitely drained the energy of a lot of the first team players.
