I agree bob he does, but we have heard him complain to the media about it saying he is a striker and should in the box (which I think he said after and England game when asked about his club postion). Let’s take Milner and lucas, I haven’t seen once when they have said ‘I play this postion and where I should be’, they do what’s best for the team. I just don’t see him as a team player and that was probably the reason him a Luis didn’t get on when he was at Anfield, one cos Luis demanded a team ethic and two, Luis up staged him.

Keep what we have until the seasons over (Sakho aside). I’m pretty confident we will need goals at some point & a player of his quality can deliver. I have no issues letting him go after the season as long as we replace him, at least that would give any potential replacement the off season to settle in.

Moonster… Milner has openly admitted that he does not like playing as a left-back but he is willing to do it for the team. Just like Sturridge prefers the striker position but is willing to play on the flanks for the team.

maybe its a matter of opinion Bingo but even though milner has said (I did forget about that) he don’t like playing there, he still puts 110% into it, but I really don’t believe Sturridge does. When he has come on he has done well, but I you can tell he’s not happy by his body langague if he isn’t playing as the sole striker where milner is smashing into tackles and he’s up and down line no matter what. Its really strange how one player can split fans, some believe world class, some just think he’s made of glass, some think he’s trying his best, some just think he cant be bothered with Liverpool. But I think (as the first comment intended to point out) Klopp has fallen into the ‘made of glass and cant be ar*ed group from the latest ‘we don’t know when he will be back’ conference on yet another niggle.

I´m not one for criticizing injury prone players but like I stated when Sturridge was given his bumper contract after the 2014 season that it was the wrong thing to do. As he is injury prone and putting all our faith in a man that breaks down repeatedly is never the way to go. Having said that I am not going to complain about his efforts, he does what he can do but the fact of the matter is that he is not as fit as he was in 2014 and he probably never will be. Maybe for a season or two but never over a prolonged period of time.

Personally speaking, I think Liverpool would be mad to sell Sturridge in January. I’d expect him to play a big part in the new year due to Mane’s absence and could easily slot into the side alongside Coutinho (if and when fit) and Firmino.
Why weaken a title-chasing squad by selling a player everyone knows can do the business when called up?! -Marshy

It’s true that Milner said it but in that same interview he also said that he was worried that he was going to be dropped and was delighted to be able to contribute or something like that.

I don’t want to restate anything much on Sturridge as I think his attitude has been much better recently. He’s gotten injured when he was finally going to get the start that he pretty much deserves.

I do still find it strange that we have absolutely no info on his injuries. We know how long Coutinho will be out for and he got injured after Sturridge. Just weird, unless I’ve missed the statements/articles on it, i guess thats possible.

there are mixed reports about Coutinho as well…

I am of the opinion that news about how long players are out should be kept hidden, the only one that should know about how long they are out is the club. Not our rivals…

Well the mixed reports were 4-6 weeks and then 5 weeks with the club apparently now saying 2 months + internally.

I havent heard a single estimation for Sturridge. Im not saying they arent out there but I don’t remember seeing one anyway. Someone said Sturridge might make the bench on the weekend tho. Damn I hope this is correct because now with Firmino possibly injured (or whatever is going on), we’re kinda desperate now.

No one should be sold bar possibly Sakho.

For me the selling part is not the problem, its all about the replacement. Last summer there was only a handful of players I would keep and the rest could all be sold for all I care. Sturridge was one I would have kept.

Now though we have a real solid and strong team which Sturridge is not influencing really. He is still a very good player but his influence and importance is not as strong. If Klopp (and not the board) decided to sell him then I would be OK with it, so long as the replacement is brought in quickly. Klopp has proved he has an eye for a player.

Klopp is fantastic at just getting the best out of players. Who knew Lallana was this good?!

Moonster – do you think it is possible that players like Sturridge split opinion because some people are discussing his actions and words incorrectly (i.e. Stating that him and Milner have made completely opposite statements to each other, when in fact if your read transcriptions the message is almost identical?) – appreciate that you’re trying to discuss his and Klopp relationship, and don’t need me jumping on your back over something so trivial, but just pointing that these things won’t help fans have a solid opinion of the guy!

Chinese whispers never helps someone’s reputation once the whispers take a negative spin. As I mentioned before in comments, I’ve genuinely been told on here before when calling out another poster for a strange comment that “Sturridge is just a whipping boy so will get stick if he deserves it or not”. I feel his reputation has been caused more by whispers at pubs and possibly from previous clubs (where he was younger and maybe did have a worse attitude…). I think he is quite professional to be honest in his answers. Just haters gonna hate, aren’t they?

Don’t jump on my back Ian as its bad already lol!

Its all about opinions and all have different views, but if this ‘sulky, about me attitude’ was a one off then maybe people are wrong, but he was allegedly the same at all his clubs so with history taken into account id suggest he is a bit of a ‘it’s about me’ person……even Gerrard had to try and convince to play once upon a time ago

There was no difference at all between what Milner said and Sturridge, those are the facts anything else is conjecture

I do agree bob, but in my opinion Milner plays like there isn’t an issue, but when Sturridge does (play out of postion) he looks like he wants to be somewhere else and not playing…..if fit! But as I said, pound to a penny that when he goes he will be fit to play

That’s it though. Some people would have you believe that you can’t tell if someone looks bothered or not when you’re watching them play. You apparently have to get to know the player personally or listen to what they say on TV.

Now regardless of where anyone stands on the argument, that is total bullshit.

But is he THAT injured again, its another niggle, no pulls (muscles) no damages (ligamants) just a another set of niggles that no one can be certain of why or where they come from AGAIN. But Klopp has put my thoughts to bed about him going :- http://www.teamtalk.com/news/klopp-delivers-emphatic-response-to-liverpool-transfer-rumours

no he is not injured, just making it up and the medical team is lying to us and Klopp is lying to us as well. The whole squad is actually covering up for him as he just can´t be bothered.
