Gerrard’s time on the pitch for Liverpool has come to an end. We’ve all accepted that and moved on. He was struggling with the pace of the game in his last season, and, with the way Klopp plays with high intensity pressing, I don’t see how Gerrard could fit into that way of high pressing at this stage of his career. A coach, yes. A player? No, not anymore

I could see some logic in that, depends on SG and our man Klopp. That said I’m sure gerrard said he would accept a bit part role if he could do his coaching with us (I don’t know definitively thou)

Have to agree with you ST, wrote something similar on another thread. If the level required for Liverpool isn’t too high for an aging Gerrard who’s legs have gone, then we’re aiming too low.

I reread that and realise it may sound terribly disrespectful to Gerrard. For the record Gerrard is my favourite PL era player. I love the guy to bits and will never lose appreciation for him.
If he hadn’t left the club and was willing to accept an impact role then maybe things could be different. But I’m almost glad he left of his own accord rather than be told he wasn’t needed anymore and his wages were a drain.
Hope he makes a good coach. Who knows, 10yrs from now he could be Liverpool manager going up against a man utd managed by Giggs and a Chelsea managed by Terry!(the horror)
