The job is done. Yes we want to keep momentum going with a win but it’s crazy to risk our top players when we have 5/0 leadMarch 6, 2018 at 7:08 pm #1608196
Mane didnt play a full game on Saturday so he should be fine. We should rest Firmino as early as possible though. Hope we get the job done quickly and rest some players for UtdMarch 6, 2018 at 7:14 pm #1608197
It’s ibjurues I’m worried about geller me aul chumMarch 6, 2018 at 7:23 pm #1608203
Sean, players can get injured in any game, are you suggesting we that don’t use any of our top players (e.g. the front 3) tonight?
Who would we use instead then?March 6, 2018 at 7:33 pm #1608207
I wouldn’t be too worried about injuries too Sean. Firmino rarely gets injured, I can’t even recall the last time he got injured. Mane is a little worrisome but I’m not too worried as I don’t think any of the Porto players would put in hard tackles left and right when even their coach has admitted defeat.March 6, 2018 at 7:51 pm #1608210
Unfortunately we don’t really have many options for the front 3 Sean.
Clearly Klopp doesn’t trust Ings or Solanke to start a game yet, even a game like this.
I can see Mané being subbed for Salah at some point and Firmino coming off too.
Wij is out so he can’t play tonight and I doubt he’ll be ready for Sat either.March 6, 2018 at 8:13 pm #1608221
When Porto saw our starting line up they lost any hope they did have so in essence it’s just a bit of training for our boys. Klopp wants to keep momentum & tempo which I can understand.March 6, 2018 at 8:22 pm #1608226
I swear matip is total shite this season. Cant pass, gets caught under the ball from 40 yards, slow and ponderous, dangerous passing. Just shitMarch 6, 2018 at 8:30 pm #1608232
Agreed hairy. He really has been absolute shite this season. No idea what happened to him.March 6, 2018 at 8:40 pm #1608239
wasnt it you ginger who was adamant about Lallana not being a cover for the front three?March 6, 2018 at 9:01 pm #1608251
Surely it’s time to rest Firmino now?March 6, 2018 at 9:53 pm #1608265
Professional performance there, rested key players & job done with no fuss. Great stuff.March 6, 2018 at 9:55 pm #1608267
Through to the quarter finals, another clean sheet, key players rested and no injuries. Well done Liverpool!March 7, 2018 at 12:13 am #1608297
Found some empathy with united today watching us against Porto…but the difference was we still didn’t park any bus.March 7, 2018 at 7:58 am #1608331
Qtr final of cl is progress for us. First time in 9 years.
Bingo lalanna showed last night why he is not decent cover for the front 3. He’s to slow.
It didn’t work last season and it won’t work.March 7, 2018 at 8:06 am #1608341
He is cover for the front three whether you guys like it or not.March 7, 2018 at 8:25 am #1608350
For now, Lallana is definitely an option for the wing, to give Salah or Mane a break.
And he didn’t do too badly yesterday either last night, considering it was the first full match he had played in several months. Same goes for Ings.
And no point complaining about him either, as we don’t have any better options in this position now, but we will strengthen here when summer comesMarch 7, 2018 at 9:51 am #1608424
Well said songman, it is like a broken record sometimes on here as if complaining about the same thing over and over again will change it. It can’t be changed now, lallana is our option as and where he is needed. The one thing he brings is his closing down and team ethic, thought he broke up play and won the ball high often last night which is always good to see. The game was exactly how I expected it to be, I had a couple quid on mane to score first last night, gutted when he hit the post 😂.March 7, 2018 at 10:22 am #1608454
i never arguewd that he was not. Miner and gingers point was its not good enough cover.Lalanna should not be used as cover for the front 3. He is no use there as shown last night.
ant but its not his position. he is not effrective there so why play him there? It was proven l;ast year when we were short numbers. So its avery valid debateMarch 7, 2018 at 10:38 am #1608477
Of course it is Sean, but it’s also one we have had already. I agree he is more effective in the midfield three than he is on the wing however we have no other options so as required that’s where he should play unless you have another option? Unfortunately the decision was made to not replace coutinho and it won’t get fixed until the summer, he will only play there as a last resort and not much else can be done about it or said to be honest. I think acceptance is the best way to look at it and hope come the summer we will strengthen in that position or at least have a better option.
I’m not disagreeing with you, in fact I agree it isn’t his best position but currently I don’t see a better option. 😀
