Klopp isn’t without criticism this season, nor are the players. We just need to be wary of looking for a fall guy to put all the blame on for our predicament. Hence I wouldn’t look even at FSG. Last summer, as I expected, Klopp first and foremost went after players he knew about, i.e. from Germany – Karius, Matip, & Klaven. In January he looked at Pulisic & Draxler. Again, players from the Bundesliga. His relationship with the scouts has had to develop. Hence this outlet from which to buy players is still in its infancy. It has brought Mané and possibly Wijnaldum, Mané I believe being recommended by the new sporting director Michael Edwards. So we have to wait for these relationships between Klopp and the recruitment team to develop.
In the longer term, we really to look at why so few local players are coming off the assembly line. Spain achieved their international success by ploughing more money into coaches and facilities and I do think it would be wise for the club to invest more in the city itself in the schools and actually develop and pay for the coaches themselves. I think Carragher opened up a coaching academy in Bootle with his own money which is great, but should the club not also being doing so in the different communities that make up the city?
March 2, 2017 at 2:43 pm #1444294I have to say its a bit deflating at the moment being a Liverpool fan but I dont have BT Sports so ill have to go for a few pints to watch this one 🙂
Sean – is it the kiss of death when you think we will win? On the rare occasion that you have predicted a win this season have we ended up winning that game or losing? (all in good fun, dont take it the wrong way or we end up in the back room 🙂
March 2, 2017 at 2:50 pm #1444301gibbo,my last few predictions of wins hull and spurs have been mixed mate.
i think we will turn up on saturday. we will perform and i think we will win. I will be suprised if we lose. A win will give some renewed confidence and then we will drop silly points againest burnley. I can see that being the theme for the rest of the season
March 2, 2017 at 2:56 pm #1444307Lets hope your right this time round. Saturday evening is a good time for a few pints so even if it doesnt go well ill probably be in good spirits 🙂
March 2, 2017 at 2:57 pm #1444308I think we need a routine back. I wouldn’t so much blame the Spanish training camp as much as the simple amount of time since the last match. The momentum from the Spurs game evaporated over that 2 week period. Sometimes too long a gap between matches can be just as harmful as too short a one, though it would obviously help if we had more depth and could punish poorly performing players by dropping them in favour of equally good ones from the bench who would be more hungry.
March 2, 2017 at 3:23 pm #1444318I think our depth has been tested by poor form and injuries. Based on last season’s form, would you be happy to have Sturridge, Can and Origi on the bench?
March 2, 2017 at 3:35 pm #1444327Kopite – at the start of the season I would have been happy with them on the bench but they have been non-existent for a few weeks now which is very disappointing

I am almost in complete agreement with you there Sean. I still have some small hope that our form will improve as the season draws to a close but with you regards Arsenal and Burnley.
Its really hard to be a fan right now but we have to keep our heads and if we lose to Arsenal, I really hope we don’t see any “Klopp Out” stuff. We have fallen apart and we’ve nothing to play for (potentially) but Klopp needs a few seasons more. Nothing good comes easy!
March 2, 2017 at 4:21 pm #1444373Let’s hope none of the teams we face till end of season change managers, only then do we have hope. All our losses this year have come against teams who just changed managers.
March 2, 2017 at 4:24 pm #1444374I know the solution though. The next time a team changes managers just before we play them, if we also change managers we will nullify it. KLOPP OUT 😀
March 3, 2017 at 12:05 am #1444534My next team would be :
Migs
Clyne – Gomez – Matip – Milner
Lallana – Lucas – Wijnaldum
Mane – Firmino – CoutinhoYou guys will likely have a fit when you see me naming Lucas in midfield but we need someone who isnt going to over-invest. Lucas isnt quick but you dont need to be if you are tactically good and Lucas is excellent tactically, as a midfielder anyway.
Im not sure about Hendersons fitness levels but if he is fit enough to go on the bench then we have someone there who Lallana and Wijnaldum will know will replace them if they aren’t performing. You know what too? Maybe you guys will think I’m off to the mad house with this one but Henderson on the bench can also replace Coutinho if he’s stinking it up.
Now if he isn’t fit enough we have less options of course but I standby Gomez starting and Lucas being pushed up into CM with an eye on being a DM. We have plenty of lads who can attack. The 3 up front, the 2 others in midfield and at least 1 but often 2 of our WBs.
Thats more than enough to break teams down but if we are more solid at the back and protect our defence, maybe the attack won’t feel so much pressure on them to score loads of goals.
March 3, 2017 at 2:45 am #1444543MrMak i would put lucas as def midf as well. The problem is that theres not enough height in that team when we’re defending set pieces so klopp will play Can again. Whos gonna be mediocre again
March 3, 2017 at 2:46 am #1444544Emre can played as def midf against sunderland away and he was awful.
March 3, 2017 at 4:44 am #1444547Nothing the matter at all with putting Lucas as a holding mid, IMO it’s where he is most effective & our back 4 definitely need some protection from an experienced holding mid.
I agree with Gomez as well, we will have space to exploit as I can’t see Arsenal playing with 2 banks of 4 & trying to frustrate us, therefor we will be exposed at the back at times when we counter & we will need that bit of extra pace at the back that maybe Gomez could provide.
All in all I think they will break our good record v the top teams as we are terribly out of form, with our attack struggling to score & defence looking like a pub teams d. 1-2 or 1-3 for me.March 3, 2017 at 7:11 am #1444553Anyone else find it strange how similar our 2 clubs are in where we are trying to go and where we are and the feeling of the fans? We seem to have arrived at the same destination all be it from different routes, There is not one Arsenal poster that thinks we will win this game (myself included) and its strange to see the same coming from many of you guys.
Also feel free to post on our site and add your thoughts on the game
March 3, 2017 at 8:08 am #1444572Great game for the neutral tomorrow with both teams having something to prove after the disappointments of Bayern and Leicester and CL places being fought for I’m expecting a cracker.
March 3, 2017 at 8:47 am #1444604When Hendo isn’t there the 4-3-3 doesn’t work.
We need a formational change.
Either 4-4-2 diamond with Mané and Firmino up front and then a midfield of Lallana, Coutinho, Wij and Can.Or a 4-2-3-1
The very definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result.
March 3, 2017 at 9:18 am #1444626Stevo, I think arsenal are in better nick then us to be honest mate. You still have the chance if a trophy.
Ginger, I’d go with that. Twice can has set and we have been poor. Hendo has been out most consistent player and never hides. Huge loss
March 3, 2017 at 9:44 am #1444638Insanity might be what is in store for us mates.
March 3, 2017 at 11:43 am #1444737Ginger defo agree on the formation / personnel adjustment as mentioned before.
