You know, I’m so glad that this is a home fixture. We’re without Lallana and now Mane but the crowd will be in better spirits after the derby win. It’ll be more difficult to break teams down without Mane in particular. I hope we can go from here until the end of the season with Lovren and Matip together, not only will that give us our best chance of keeping clean sheets but we can go into the summer knowing if we need to make a signing or not (maybe).

    My team:

    Migs
    Clyne – Lovren – Matip – Milner
    Can – Lucas – Wijnaldum
    TAA – Firmino – Coutinho

No surprise there for anyone who saw my posts in the Everton thread but as I said earlier, my mind is set on giving TAA a chance, not only on some misguided desire to see a youth prospect do well but I think he’s the best direct swap for Mane and he looked very capable in his cameo the last day. The lad looks dangerous and I’m sure he has a goal or 2 in him this season, if given the chance.

That said, Origi did well also and I expect Klopp to go with him. We can hope that he’s learned his lesson about shifting Firmino out of that role but with Coutinho in the team and Firmino shifting to the right, it could work.

I’m not going to try and make a prediction, we all know how this could go but here’s to hoping that we’re learning to manage the smaller teams. We certainly managed Everton!

I honestly don’t see Klopp starting with TAA. He’ll prob more likely go with Origi up front. Whether that means Firmino moving from the central position remains to be seen.
Bournemouth will be without Harry Arter for this match who has been one of their best players so thats at least something.

TAA, Grujic and Sturridge could all very well be on the bench.
Really neee the three points so we can start pulling away into the top two or three.

Bournemouth are on a good little run. These are the games we have to be winning. It’s going to be difficult but we are playing well now. More nervous about this then Everton as these games are we’re we sell ourselves short. Team picks itself. We really can only throw away a top 4 spot ourselves. Surely we mess this up on Wednesday?

Bournemouth currently sitting mid table, can’t really achieve anything but not really in any danger of the drop.
They don’t need to go out for the win but won’t want to lose so I’d imagine they’ll be quite defensive maybe trying to nick something from a dead ball situation or hitting us on the break. If that’s the case they’ll be very hard to break down particularly without Mane and Lallana.
Hopefully we’ll get a bit of luck with an early goal.

Bournemouth have little to play for, so hopefully they will not be totally up for it.

Liverpool must try and crush them as revenge for the 4-3 defeat which I actually think was the start of our title challenge collapse.

Same team as yesterday for me, except Origi in for Mane

I think it’s clear that when in form, Mané & Coutinho are our most influential players. Lallana and Henderson were missing yesterday. I won’t say we didn’t miss them, but it seems clear this season that missing the former two players (Mane & Coutinho) hits us a lot harder. Henderson & Lallana are more grafters that help sure up the ship when these two are playing. Let’s hope Mané’s injury isn’t serious. We can maybe just about cope losing either Mané or Coutinho at times, but we saw what happened over Winter when both these players are out or out of form.

Missing my first game of the season on Wednesday as I’m going to see The Who in Manchester, but I’m sure our little Pinball Wizard will ensure The Kids are Alright

Mikus, a reasonable point regards who we need on form. When Mane and Coutinho are on form, they are totally unplayable. I don’t want to take anything from Henderson or Lallana cause when they are playing well they are absolutely fantastic for us. I will add Wijnaldum’s name to the list, as when he is really on song, the midfield ticks over much better. I know some on here have questioned his input before but recently he’s been brilliant and I think he’s staring to win the doubters over.

Great result there in the Arsenal Man city match. That’s knocked Arsenal back a bit and taken away some of the potential ground that Man City might make on us once they are on level games played. We couldn’t have asked for much more in terms of results. Winning the derby with 3 of our rivals dropping points (Chelsea are obviously excluded).

As good as this weekend has been, it’ll all be for nothing if we don’t win against Bournemouth and we all know that this Liverpool team is criminal when it comes to dropping the “easy” points.

Sean, I too am more nervous about this game than the Everton one. I’m a lot more confident now that we seem to be getting back on track again but a part of me is wondering where the next setback lies.

Besides the result, I’m hoping to at least see TAA come off the bench to score. That would really make my day.

My thoughts exactly Mr Mak, how many times have we seen optimism after a good result & expectations raise only to come down with a thud. This game will be another where we go in full of hope so fingers crossed it’s not false hope.
On Wijnaldum, I was questioning his role earlier in the season but he’s one of those that you don’t realise what he contributes until he’s not there, then u see his value.
Really hard to pick a result here, I’m thinking they will try to hit us on the break & no surprise set pieces will be a real threat. With no Mane to stretch sitting defenders I’ll go for a 1-1 score line.

Bournemouth looked good against the Saints and should have won. Without Mane we lose that dynamic we have. I see the Cherries setting up like Burnley and this could be another disappointment. We MUST get the three points because I can’t see us beating WBA or Stoke.

I do like the idea of TAA starting but i somehow cant see it happening. Lucas did play well but i am not sure he should start on wed for a couple of reasons firstly two games in 4 days may be too much for him secondly i think we could do with a more creative player in that deeper role in this specific game so i would suggest Grujic (risky i know) Also he is 6ft+

    Migs
    Clyne – Lovren – Matip – Milner
Can – Grujic – Wijnaldum (Can & Grujic could swap)
    Firmino – Origi – Coutinho

That’s my worry about starting Lucas on Wed, a lack of creativity in midfield.
I’d imagine Bournemouth will sit back and be more defensive so the onus is on us to break them down. I’m not sure a midfield of Lucas, Can and Wij has enough creativity that break them down especially considering we will be without Mane too.
I’m not saying Grujic is definitely the answer but he may be more creative and more of a goal threat than Lucas.
There’s pros and cons to the options available but we need to be able to break these down while remaining solid in midfield.

Absolutely correct AK/Ginger, this won’t be a game where we need Lucas to play the sweeping role he did v Everton, we will need to break down 2 banks of 4 so a more attack mindset is required for this one. No Mane is massive for me & a draw would not surprise me at all. You’d think we’ll have enough at home but I can see us struggling to break them down.

these are the games we have struggled in. People say we have the best run in but they are againest teams that usually cause us problems. 7 points from our next three games and ill become confident that we will get top 4 but so many times we slip up when its in our hands so i wont hold my breath.

I don’t think Bournemouth will play ultra defensively like WBA did on the weekend. Howe likes his teams to play football so i think they will pose a goal threat.

Liverpool have the worst home record for defending set pieces.
43% of all goals at home have been conceded from set pieces.
This is where we need to be most cautious on Wed nights match and for the remaining fixtures. Hopefully the partnership of Matip/Lovren can help with that.

    Just a thought…..
Considering our injuries would it not be better to change formation, maybe to a 4-4-2 diamond.
Same keeper/back 4. Can holding, Wij on one side, Coutinho on the other, Firmino at the tip and Sturridge and Origi up top.
Can is an obvious choice for holding midfield with Wij just ahead. Coutinho played part of the diamond very successfully when we had Suarez and Sturridge up top.
Firmino at the tip for his creativity.
Origi and Sturridge up top give 2 different options up top and as we know Sturridge plays better with a partner.

Ginger, in light of Mane’s injury that would certainly make sense. But I just can’t see Klopp going for 2 up top at the start of a game – maybe part way through a game if he decides to go for broke. I think Origi would be more at the front of his mind than Sturridge even in that case because of his pace. I think he sees Sturridge more like a Benteke option B player, somebody to throw on if all else fails. Be interesting to see how he plays the coming months given the availability and nonavailability of certain players.

To be honest Mikus with Sturridge only trained for a coupla days I don’t see Klopp starting him at all tomorrow night.
    He’ll be on the bench.
It’s a good formation for games at home against those teams that will sit deep that we need to break down as it gets more of our goalscorers/game changers on the pitch at the same time.
