There is no doubt that this match is the biggest test that our defence faces this season. Liverpool is fantastic in the attack and its time that we see the credentials of our defence. Christensen and Bakayoko was well rested. I expect Conte to start the same team that started our last two league games. I will be disappointed if we don’t exploit Liverpool’s defensive weakness.
November 23, 2017 at 1:40 pm #1560949Very difficult one to call and I agree CMan the key is to defend well and keep Liverpool out from there there’s every chance that Liverpool will give you opportunities to score.
November 23, 2017 at 2:51 pm #1561008I think Liverpool will be in serious trouble if they go 2 or 3 goals up 🤣
November 23, 2017 at 3:10 pm #1561018Liverpool going forward are very free flowing and can create something out of nothing with their pace. However, I would argue that they are more of a counter attack team than we are and they really tend to struggle against teams that are compact and deep
I would also start with the same team that won the last 2 league games but with one exception – Rudiger for Cahill due to the pace that Rudiger possesses which may be very useful
I am certain that we will create chances so we need to take them. Fabregas seems to be relishing his new role and Hazard looks to be enjoying his football again as well so I am totally convinced that we will create
Just need to be solid in the middle, composed and alert at the back. I really think we have a great chance at Anfield and feel that they could easily become frustrated quickly if they do not score. If they do, then we simply must not crumble but stick to our philosophy as we have the better players and a better manager than they do. KTBFFH
November 23, 2017 at 6:52 pm #1561112I think if we turn up for the game there is no doubt we can match them. if Conte tries to play with Liverpool’s strength like he did with City. there is a high chance that we may lose that game. but if Conte focuses on our strengths and plays to that. we have a chance that we may beat them. i will be disappointed if we are out played and beaten like the City game. the key to this game is if our wingbacks sit back and watch Mane and Salah, our midfielders and attackers could do the damage. no doubt that Hazard and Morata will have their moments.
November 23, 2017 at 9:57 pm #1561162Cahill is our skipper…he starts irrespective of what we think. There’s a school of thought on here indicating that Cahill is slow. However I disagree. He reads the game well and we have enough pace at the back with Azi and Christiansen. Any defenders will struggle with players that have the pace of Salah and Mane. They’re out and out gas merchants. Reckon if we can win the midfield battle and starve their attackers of quality possession, half the battle is won. Their defence is far more vulnerable and inconsistent than ours and the likes of Hazard and Morata can wreak havoc if given the desired platform. In rugby union there’s a phrase…dominate upfront, lay a platform and the rest will take care of itself. I cant help feeling that if we can dominate the midfield battle…the same will apply. Game of our PL season thus far. Three points will provide a massive lift at the club and continue our current momentum. What’s that…4 wins on the spin with 4 clean sheets…or is it three?
Anyway my starting 11:
Courtois..Azi..Christiansen..Cahill….Zappa..Alonso..Kante..Bakayoko..Cesc…Hazard…Morata.

In the PL we have won 3 games on the spin without conceding a goal. But if you add the Watford result its 4 on the spin. Also since the Roma result we have had 3 on the spin whilst scoring 9 without reply.
Regarding the Cahill issue, i see the merit of the argument on both sides of the divide. I think i’m sitting somewhere in the middle between the two camps. I do understand the camp that says Cahill should be picked as he has a lot of experience and is our captain. And if we defend in our 18 yrd box, he will be an asset for us. Equally i also undsrstand the camp that says he should be dropped because of tactical. and i won’t be surprised if Conte feels that way. He has done that to Luiz and i see no reason as to why he can’t do it to an other player.
Any way let us hope whoever is picked puts a fight for the shirt. Anfield hasn’t been our happy hunting ground recently. But one cause for optimism is that we haven’t lost Anfield since 2012. The five trips we madw since that had been win 2 and Draw 3.
November 24, 2017 at 12:17 pm #1561346Very difficult to defend against Liverpool, especially with Firmino playing as a false no. 9. Their front 4 are very mobile and quite difficult to mark. The good thing about playing Liverpool is, they also operate with a false defense. We need to exploit this to the maximum
November 24, 2017 at 1:26 pm #1561390hylle – false defence – I like that and will be using it over the weekend – hopefully after the game on Saturday in particular!
November 24, 2017 at 4:47 pm #1561481Major test tomorrow Liverpool are strong at home when they are on the front foot and can be offensively brilliant.
We need to try and get them on the back foot but it won’t be easy hopefully we still have some gas in the tank after the rigours of the back and forth to Baku.
November 24, 2017 at 7:22 pm #1561547Scary opposition Liverpool. I hope our defense can resist. If we can keep the clean sheet: we would win the match.
November 25, 2017 at 2:27 pm #1561698Each passing minute a get a confidence boost. i think Liverpool will go for the win for sure. and that is why i like about them. and being the away team suits Chelsea nowadays. i don’t know the reason. but our team performs better on the road than home. if we beat Liverpool today. i think we have a chance of going on a run.
November 25, 2017 at 7:49 pm #1561931WOULd of took a draw a week ago with traveling to baku and back.
Cesc should of played instead of baka from the start. He was absolutley appauling today and has been hit and miss all season. Maybe he was tired. Without cesc we have 0 creativity in midfielde. Crystal clear where we need to strengthen next summerNovember 25, 2017 at 8:06 pm #1561941Oh ee oh
Tiémoué Bakayoko

Nowhere near N’Golo

Just wasn’t good enough today
🙁Thought the overall performance was strong and especially so after a 5000 mile round trip to Azerbaijan.
A good point, with all things considered.
November 25, 2017 at 8:16 pm #1561947Love Liverpool’s new shirt colour, a bit brighter than their usual shade, think they call it Santa red, very apt for this time of year as they just keeps giving things away….Pagan

You have to earn the right to playNovember 25, 2017 at 8:42 pm #1561952Lol Pagan. Scousers were like the Chuckle Brothers at the back today.
November 25, 2017 at 8:58 pm #1561959Anfield is a tough place to go at the best of times but a 5;30pm ko after a circa 6 hour flight back from Baku and not getting home until 6am on Thursday morning made it a lot tougher and Liverpool had only conceded one goal at Anfield up to tonight too.
I would have happily settled for a point before the game given all of the above.
November 25, 2017 at 9:03 pm #1561964A massive point that keeps the momentum rolling. Thought hazard looked up for it… impressive performance all things considered. Pleased with the fightback. It’s a great cross when it picks out the back of the net.
I’d be pulling bakayoko out of the starting team for a few games. Don’t doubt he has bags of talent. But he gives the ball away so cheaply at times and can’t find feet from five yards. Just needs more time to adapt and gain composure at premiership pace and find his feet.
November 25, 2017 at 9:05 pm #1561965Interestingly Drinkwater came off before Bakayoko, which would suggest that Conte was ok with his performance, not knowing what exactly he was asked to do, it’s very hard to judge his performance, but if you have 3 in the middle of the pitch it takes a while for them to get an understanding of who’s doing what, I would say of the 3 that started Kante was expected to hold and the other 2 to alternate pressing on, obviously when Cesc comes on it becomes easier as you know exactly what your role would be.
Don’t know how many games Kante and Bakayoko have played together, but it’s the first time those 3 have played together from the start, and for it to become a more fluid system it needs a bit more time….Pagan -
