Songman, i think you’ve answered the question yourself by saying age and experience. For example Salah at younger age scored Chelsea 2 goals in 13, Fiorentina 6 in 16. Lemar scored 14 goals in 55 appearances in the 2016-17 season and had well over 10 assists. This season he hasn’t played as well but I see loads of potential in him and that’s the reason I mention him. You mention Lanzini but think he’s got 1 goal this season in 16 appearances for West Ham. Not saying he is a bad choice just that those aren’t great stats either and he’s a couple of years older.
Again not interested in Lemar at anywhere near the 90 mill mentioned but I think there’s a real star in there who Klopp could easily get the best out of if we could get him at a reliatively decent price.
As mentioned the transfer market has gone bonkers and I can’t see a player of the level of Salah out there for the same price. Would love to be proved wrong.
Bob, problem with Lemar is that he will now only go for that price (90m), as numerous top clubs are now after him. I am certain his price will not drop now.
The only way I can see Liverpool affording him is by extracting the maximum amount of money (£150m?) from Barca for Coutinho.
I still believe a bargain as good as, or even better than Salah can be found. Liverpool have done it before with Coutinho, Firmino and Mane, and I believe will do it again – possibly with Lanzini, who is only 24 btw.
Good question Football Scouser I’ve never really seen Lemar apart from Youtube clips. He does seem the closest to Coutinho but we don’t HAVE to try to recreate Coutinho though a different player do we? I’m sure that’s what Klopp is doing he will be thinking in terms of the team. Coutinho wasn’t perfect at all, defensively he needs too much babysitting and bodyguards sometimes. I’m sure Klopp will look at the team rather than simply trying to replace like for like.
