If that dire performance of Utd at Seville was anything to go by then the only problem I foresee is beating De Gea. He was outrageously good tonight and that one handed save in particular was from another planet. I’d love for us to come flying out the blocks and attack them…with either Morata or Giroud leading the line.

On the plus side, Herrera will be injured. Mourinho has to find another player to man mark Hazard. getting the ball to Willian and Hazard in an advanced area could be the key to unlocking them. play Morata in the first hour and replace him after the hour mark. swap Fabregas for Luiz or Drinkwater. then we will be fine. my team for that match is 3-4-2-1. Courtois, Azpi-Christensen-Rudiger, Moses – Luiz/Drinkwater – Kante – Alonso, Willian – Hazard, Morata.

United can be thankful they have the worlds best keeper. Saved them so many times. His like 2 keepers between the posts. Makes our task extra difficult.

ManU this season are nothing but workmanlike but do have the players capable of changing games – and that includes DeGea. Totally agree that it is good news that Herarra will be missing as he has stifled Hazard in most recent games, which effectively blunts our attack

Following the great performance on Tuesday we should be nothing but more confident in our play and should go to OT with high aspirations of taking points – and I would not rule out all 3

For me, Hazard has to play out wide as he has not proved to be an effective no.9 but is much more dangerous when allowed to roam, drift and create

I have to be honest and say that if we do not come away with a something I will be very disappointed as I see this as a great opportunity to make up ground on one of our title challengers. KTBFFH

Take giving up possession against Barca but hope we don’t suffer same style tactics against both the Manc sides
Surely conte won’t leave both morata and Giroud on the bench for these upcoming games

After the depression of the two poor losses recently it is wonderful to see the confidence returning to not only the players but us fans too! I previously posted that despite my strong wish for Antonio to stay that if the players had given up playing for him then he had to go in order to rescue our season. I have to say that the players have shown they are indeed playing for him with recent results and he has shown he has the tactical ability to do well in big games. I really think we can get a good result against Man U and that it will give us good momentum for the rest of the season. Hope i am not being overly optimistic!!!

GIB – think you make a good point that the players have come out vocally and shown on the pitch that they seems to be behind Conte

While I do agree with Hazard and his comments at the same time I can that for certain games only, if Conte wants to make a tactical change then players have to accept that. Personally, I do not think it worked in that Hazard did not really get into the game but it did allow for Pedro and especially Willian to get more involved, but for the team overall it was generally considered a success – and the team is bigger than an individual

I believe that Conte will have changed for the weekend regardless of the comments made by Hazard. KTBFFH

Poor game last night and lots of criticism flowing United’s way but it would be foolish of Conte and or the the players to underestimate them on their day United are capable of beating any team in the PL and any team in Europe.

It will take perfect tactics and a perfect performance to leave OT with anything on Sunday and personally I think being too offensive particularly early on in the game might play into United’s hands.

But if we’re all feeling a bit more confident after the last three games so are the players.

I think we have to start with a proper centre froward and I would start with Giroud for this particular game and if his not dong the business bring Morata on later. Pedro even though he did try hard does not seem to be the player he was at Barca or last season at Chelsea. The only area I am not sure off is who should partner Kante.

Perfect tactics and perfect performance to be at manure bit ott that
How about we look at player for player and coach for coach nothing in it
We have to start being positive and on the front foot
I for one could not endure another 90mins of just coughing up possession against the Manc teams

NN – agree that I would start Giroud at the expense of Pedro. The back 3 are good for me and the more they play together the more confident they will become

Agree that who partners Kante is the tough call. As always, for me it would be wrong to pick Fabregas and as yet I do not know the status of Bakayoko, Luiz or Drinkwater but logically it has to be one of those 3…?

I agree that we should not be gung ho and just go for outright attack and in all honesty I am not convinced that ManU would do that either based on their recent form. So, I expect a cagey affair where both teams will be cautious and look to do something on the break

You would assume that the onus is on ManU being at home but even a draw would suit them as it means we gain no ground so is the onus on us to take the game to them and potentially leave ourselves open to the counter

Cagey to say the least but if we do play a real CF then in Hazard we have a game changer especially if he can lose the expected man marker. KTBFFH

After the war of words Can you actually imagine how much mourinho is going over this game with his team. He will be doing everything not to lose on sunday. He will have them drilled in every situation not to lose this one. We will find it very hard to break them down. I think it will be a draw but if we play like we did on tues we have a chance

Phwepsi, I think you’re spot on Mourinho will have the United players well up for this one because of all the bad blood previously spilt plus all of the criticism that the United team have had following the Sevilla game will act as another motivation too.

I don’t think it will be easy but we’re in a better place now than we were a few weeks ago and if the players turn up like they did on Tuesday night I would be disappointed if we left OT empty handed.

Personally I would start either Morata or Giroud instead of Pedro the question that Conte will be wresting with imo is whether Cecs is physically up to another demanding game alongside Kante?

Let’s hope despite Sky’s best endeavours to turn it into a boxing match between Mourinho and Conte the game is free of controversy and we’re only talking about the football come Sunday tea time.

Likewise conte should have us up for it big time come Sunday
Mind you play like we did against Barca would be too negative
We are as good as them player for player and should go for it
We can’t just keep adopting the same old tactics of practically parking the bus when we play teams in the top six

EVERyone plays negative against barca mate. That coz you dont see much of the ball. I think we done brilliant on tuesday. That wasnt the team that got beat 4.1 off watford. Cahill needs to be left at home again we are so much better without him and luiz. Sell both in the summer and bring another cb in

I don’t see how anyone can term Chelsea’s performance vs Barca as ‘negative’. 11 shots vs 7 in our favour. Equal number of shots on target, and 3 corners vs 4 in Barca’s favour.

The way I see it we did a hell of a lot more positive things in the 27% of the time we had the ball. If anything, Barca were negative with their tippy tappy tiki taka sh*te. Not effective, and no plan B.

Already posted was happy with the game against Barca and that we pretty much kept them quiet such s shame about the easy goal being it’s two legs
But that doesn’t mean we should be playing those tactics against teams in the PL and personally hope we don’t see Sunday or the following Sunday

I’m sure Conte will have the players up for this one there’s bad blood on both sides and Conte will be equally as motivated as Mourinho to win it. They both seem to dislike each other intensely and neither of them will want to lose this one.

I think we need to go with a striker instead of Pedro but we don’t need to win the game in the first 20 minutes and we have to be respectful of United’s capabilities despite their current problems.

I agree with you Phwepsi ” That wasnt the team that got beat 4.1 off watford.” And if that same team turns up as v Barca with that level of commitment we should come away with a positive result.
