I don’t know if anyone of you has noticed, but before the end of last season when it was evident that our CL participation next season was over. every media pundit was giving us a negative view. even earlier in the season when we were hit and miss nobody cared to bother.
Now all of a sudden we have put a run together to claim top spot. everyone is now trying to knock us and attribute our recent success due to lack of CL participation. this has irked be so much if i’m honest. isn’t this hypocrisy? that a team is written off because they have not qualified for Europe, then when they succeed against the odds they are knocked for not having a European game.
December 1, 2016 at 4:30 pm #1344031So you would rather soak up pressure and counter? That’s fair enough, i’m sure many people would agree, however I would take the game to City, we have the confidence and ability to beat them.
They will want to have most of the possession, but I hope we press them high up and force mistakes. Stones loves taking risks, Kolarov/Otamendi can’t really pass from the back and their keeper is dodgy! Do you want a better invitation to press a team high up?December 1, 2016 at 6:05 pm #1344118Amz, I think that Stones is not gonna start. Pep played Otamendi & Kolarov as CB in their 2 last matches.
I really hesitate here whether we should take the risk to play openly or whether we should wait for counter. Both options have their own risks and advantages. My feeling is that Conte just won’t change the way we play. So expect a first half like against Spurs where they were in complete possession and basically did not allow any ball to our wings or Kante/Matic. Pep is an intelligent man, he must have learned from how Spurs dominated us.

Too much credit given to Spurs for my liking. All they did was press very well, win the ball quick and pass side to side for 35 mins they had little to zero threat in our box and the only threat was shots on our goal from 20+ yards. Chelsea didn’t match spurs in energy levels until the start of the second half and when we did Spurs didn’t look all that.
Chelsea heat map left; Spurs heat map right: as you can see at the top nothing in our box.
December 2, 2016 at 8:10 am #1344472For me, we should go and play the game that has taken us to the top of the table and let City worry how to combat us
Yes, the first half against Spurs was poor but Conte showed that he is capable of adapting the game and taking the initiative away from a team who basically just pressed well (which is becoming much more common in the EPL these days)
Defensively City can be got at which I do not think you can say the same about us. I think it will come down to confidence and who takes their chances on the day and with 2 top strikers on the pitch it could go either way
Personally, I simply hope (expect) that we do not lose the match but I still feel we have an excellent opportunity to take all 3 points here and make a very strong statement of intent…? KTBFFH
December 2, 2016 at 8:32 am #1344520cfc1905… You hit the nail on the head with city. I dont think we should have anything to worry about given the fact that city have conceeded in every single game theyve played this season against some lesser sides. for the 50 million they spent on Stones, Im very happy right now he’s not a chelsea player because he looks very out of depth. City are woeful at the back. It might just mean we see both teams go for the jugular and attack attack attack… Well, I hope so anyhow, but also, worth considering, Under the grinch, City would kick teams off the park. i reckon we might see that and Yaya in the mix for them
December 2, 2016 at 10:05 am #1344718we may not have to worry too much on current displays but it takes a single moment of either magic or a simple mistake for any side to win the game, so there is always a margin of error to worry about for both sides and more so when its too top teams who appear to be evenly matched.
December 2, 2016 at 3:48 pm #1345456“we may not have to worry too much on current displays but it takes a single moment of either MAGIC ” >
OOOOOH,FABREGAS IS MAGIC,HE WARES A MAGIC HAT ….. !!!!
LOL

ANTONIO CONTE’S BLUE ARMY !!!!!!
December 3, 2016 at 12:02 pm #1347085Pfff however hard you thought this game was going to be just got alot harder. Matic out cesc in.
December 3, 2016 at 1:16 pm #1347274Good old cahill. Another big game another mistake
December 3, 2016 at 2:57 pm #1347493Wow. Great victory. We were lucky that Luiz wasn’t sent off. IMO he fouled Aguero. And then there was penalty call when Kante tripped Gundogan.
Courtois played a big part by only taking 1 goal; he saved a lot.
Costa showed again he is a team player; hardworker. Hope his injury isn’t serious.
December 3, 2016 at 4:56 pm #1347928Great Result
Played tactically the way it was always going to be played looking at you Amz. Man city Dominated possession and we hit their crap defence on the counter that’s how you play against Guardiola teams. In these games you always need a little luck along the way; City Lucky to get the first, unlucky to get the second that’s the way it goes Chelsea took advantage of terrible defending from City.

Luiz moved his body but didn’t stick anything out. It was more Aguero running into Luiz rather than trying to run around him more than anything the Ref was correct.
Also Kante got the ball and Gundogan kicked him similar to the foul Gundogan won earlier in the game Ref got it wrong then but got the crucial decision right.
Antony Taylor had a pretty good game in my opinion.
December 3, 2016 at 7:06 pm #1348390Man City fans blaming the ref on their page it’s quite deluded. I pointed out that it was in fact De Bruyne who was the reason they lost and Mancity jim got all touchy and deleted my comment.
Also did anyone see all the plastic City fans trying to get their Chelsea shirt back when Fabregas fell into the crowd? haha
December 3, 2016 at 8:34 pm #1348558Getting their knickers in a right twist over on the city page. I didn’t think the ref was that bad. A couple of debatable decisions but nothing more than that – debatable. You’d think it was a truly shocking performance the way they are going on. I’ve seen much worse, plenty of times.
The fans appear to be like their players – sore losers.
Delighted with the win, it was a perfect away performance. We said the other week we’d have a much better Idea of where we stood after the spuds and city games. Well I think we know now!December 3, 2016 at 9:28 pm #1348696The Man City fan reaction to the match is no different to the reaction we had regarding the Barca match, Blame the ref all you like but in the end it’s the inability to take the opportunities the team created that ultimately decided the result…..Pagan
December 3, 2016 at 10:02 pm #1348741I think Luiz was lucky not to get penalised for the foul on Aguero in the first half but it wasn’t an obvious goal scoring opportunity so any card would/should have been yellow.
Tbh I thought Luiz had another very good game and he’s hardly put a foot wrong since his return to the club.
December 3, 2016 at 10:12 pm #1348747Got to laugh at the screaming girls on the Man City page. What a massive bunch of mincers, blaming the ref and actually considering whether their club could appeal Fernandinho’s red!!
The Super Blues were clinical today. We certainly rode our luck at times, but in the end only one team had balance from back to front.
So pleased to see Cesc back and playing well today. TMWTM 🙂
December 3, 2016 at 10:32 pm #1348786Ash, not a chance of any appeal on Fernandina being successful imo and any such appeal would likely incur an extra game too such is the correctness of the sending off.
Cesc may well get a retrospective red card for the slap though.
December 3, 2016 at 11:19 pm #1348864MoM for me is Costa. He worked so hard, our first line of defending. De Bruyne is a good player, but Mou was right to sell him. He does not help on defensive duty. Nor Aguero. Look at Costa and Hazard, they helped the defense too.
