This has to be the starting line-up and would bet my right knacker on it:
Karius, TAA, Lovren, VVD, Robbo, Milner, Can, Henderson, Mane, Bobby and Salah.
The only thing that could cost me my knacker would be Ox who could easily come in for Henderson or Milner but I would expect the captain to start this game.
The last four games against them have been draws (unbeaten in last 5 in all comps) and I am so tempted to go for a 1-1 here but I honestly believe we’ll do ’em. Don’t know what score but we’ll do ’em.
Our last defeat against United was over two years ago when Rooney scored late at Anfield but our record at Old Trafford in the Premiership ain’t the best. P25 W5 D5 L15.
Midfield is where this game will be won or lost. Mourinho will have Pobga, Matic, Herrera/Mata and Sanchez likely all starting with Young and Valencia bombing down the flanks so that has to be combatted in order for our defence to be protected and our front line to be given service. VVD will take care of Lukaku I think so we have to take care of business in midfield.
Could either be a cracker or it could be one dull 0-0 but I fancy our chances!March 7, 2018 at 8:22 pm #1608781
I fancied Palace to do them at 2-0, but to walk away with all 3pts was typical of manu and Mourinho. Still gonna go for a 2-1 win with a Mane winner deep into 80minsMarch 7, 2018 at 8:24 pm #1608783
Rob you will be suprised to learn I think we will lose and I’ll give my reasons why
Jose always has a plan for us. They will stifle us. They are playing shite yet keep picking up wins. De Gea will no doubt have a stormer. We have fuck all luck at ot. Can’t see us winning at all.
2-1 utd. We will get a man sent off and get absolutely no decisions. Mark my words.March 7, 2018 at 8:26 pm #1608784
We need our big players to step up.
We will really see now what Karius and vvd are made of.
Time to show some fucking balls. Don’t let the atmosphere get to us and fucking performMarch 7, 2018 at 8:57 pm #1608798
Expect Ox after being restedMarch 7, 2018 at 9:02 pm #1608800
We will run riot over them..!March 7, 2018 at 9:45 pm #1608832
Sean I agree, if there is one thing mourinho does well it’s shutting down a team, it is a real shame united pulled it back at palace because if they hadn’t I think he would have gone for it against us which would have suited us more. He will setup to stop us playing in the first instance and hope to pick up a goal or two, he will take a point and do everything he can to not lose. First goal will dictate the whole game, if it’s us it should be a cracker and if it is united it will be all one way traffic.March 7, 2018 at 9:50 pm #1608837
Yea we need to get the first goal to draw them out.March 7, 2018 at 10:22 pm #1608850
Quality amount of swearing there Sean! Lol. I think we will do ’em this time, I do.March 8, 2018 at 5:23 am #1608884
This is 1 game I hate, they always raise their level no matter how bad they are going. I fully expect the king of anti football to do his thing once again & they will nick the win with one of the few times they actually have a crack going forward. 2-1 or 2-0 is my prediction.March 8, 2018 at 8:01 am #1608903
Ant, that’s exactly it. Jose won’t be thinking we can go 5 points clear if liveroool. He will be thinking we can stay 2 points ahead with a draw.
its going to be so tough to break them down.
His wide men will play like full backs. Full backs tucking in b side centre backs.
I just we are cursed againest these. Gerard’s sending off 3 seasons ago. We just don’t have any luck. There goal at ot was offside last yearZ. Matas the year before. Berbativ dive etc I could go on.
We need to score 1st
We need vvd and Karius to have good Games
Karius has done well recently but a mistake in a game like this and the vultures be reakky out. We can’t make any silly mistakes.March 8, 2018 at 11:23 am #1609035
I think OX starts due to his ability to work threw the linesMarch 8, 2018 at 11:24 am #1609037
Rob – I think you will lose your knacker as I can’t see a starting line up with the Ox, I think VVD will be given the job to marshal Lukaku, Milner to confront Pogba, and Ox to run at Matic, so we then have Robbo against Sanchez, and TAA against Rashford or Lindegard, Can against probably Herrera, leaves Salah, Firmino and Mane against their 4 defenders, and Lovren as the CB to mop up. That is assuming Moanrinho goes 4 at the back.March 8, 2018 at 12:46 pm #1609106
i think Can will be put on pogbaMarch 8, 2018 at 12:47 pm #1609107
sanchez has not started on the right for ud, its martial up until recently with sanchez leftMarch 8, 2018 at 2:18 pm #1609176
Utd have only lost to City at home so with all due respect I don’t know where the confidence comes from. Simply cannot see us winning and a draw would be the likely outcome though with that cunt Pawson in charge they have a man advantage already..March 8, 2018 at 2:57 pm #1609209
Team I see for the weekend is….
Karius, TAA, Lovren, VVD, Robbo, Hendo, Can, Ox, Mane, Firmino, Salah.
The only debate I think is over the midfield but with Wij been sick for a coupla weeks and Lallana so rusty our only other option is Ox really.
I can defo see an argument for Milner because he’s been playing so well but he’s also played a lot of mins this week already while Ox has been rested.
Whil I defo think we can win this game I’m predicting a draw.
If Utd drew or lost v Palace on Mon night I think they’d have came out at us more but because they’ve went back to 2nd they just need to make sure they don’t get beat. Mourinho will give up possession and try to hit us on the break or get something from a set piece.March 8, 2018 at 3:10 pm #1609213
Yeh, I think either yours or my starting XI is the one Ginger. Was so tempted to put Ox in and honestly think that he was rested for the United game to disrupt Matic as Pax said but Milner has played well and did well in this fixture last year. Like I said this game will be won in midfield. Their mid is often laborious in its buildup so we’ve a good opportunity to fully execute our gegenpresss on them with success. Can, Ox and Bobby on them like a rash. It’s all about match-ups and we have to get it right to win this thing.March 8, 2018 at 5:51 pm #1609280
Yes, I think this is the one game where the pain of losing is greater than the joy of winning….and the joy of winning is monumental! Most games I can be fairly calm over for the first half or so and I only get a nervous wreck in the last 20 minutes when we’ve got a narrow 1 goal lead. This game and I’m a wreck from 2 hours before kick-off. That all said, with Chelsea falling off the pace for a top 4 spot of late; logically we could lose and still be well-placed for what is the only conceivable domestic objective now. However much I try and tell myself this, though, it won’t help a bit if we lose.March 8, 2018 at 6:02 pm #1609283
Red herring, I can safely say my weekend be ruined if we lose
