Conte or whoever the next manager is will have a very difficult job so for those that assume he will simply wave a magic wand for greater achievements need to seriously think again.

I’m a massive fan of Conte, my prediction is that he will be success at Chelsea if given the necessary resources, patience and support. i think his record at Juventus is crystal clear for doubters to see him. and his play style isn’t that bad. he is a young manager who could grow in the role after all he is under 50. before he is never confirmed people have started to portray him negatively.

Chelsea Man – really hope you are right

Personally, I think he will get the money and support he requires as Roman will want to get back into the CL next season so he will NOT restrict whomever is the new manager

I have no real knowledge of Conte and apart from Juve where he did well my understanding from Wikipedia is that his early days in management was not great…? Obviously with Italy he has qualified for the Euros but again I have no idea if that was a job well done or an easy group…?

All I hope and care about is that whomever is appointed can hit the ground running. It would appear quite clear that the new manager will be new to the EPL and for me, that is always a bit of a gamble as this league is so different to other leagues

I always feel that to win the EPL you need to have a solid defence and so for me, historically anyway, that is where the Italians always built from so I would expect that to be an area well understood and covered by Conte (if he is the man). Other than that it is fingers crossed for me…? KTBFFH

CFC1905, apart from Guardiola there was no manager who had an easy ride in management. managers had to start from lower position to rise to the top of the pile. even SAF had to contend with the threat of the sack at one stage in his career. Mourinho started from lower, Wenger started from the lower part. yet they have become successful. i think 3 successive scudetto titles isn’t fluke. and prior to that Juventus had gone 6 years trophy-less. he came in and restructured the who set up completely. you said about he is to new to the PL, but so was Carlo Ancelotti when he took the Chelsea job 2009/10 season and he went on to win our first double. Pellegrini was new to the league when he took the City job in 2013/14 season and went on to win the league and cup double in his first season. Mourinho was knew to the league 2004/05 season when he went on to win the league. that is 3 new managers out of the last decade who went on to win the league in their first campaign in the league. in the Italian national team he has done well, there is no easy group in the Euro 2016 qualifiers. Holland was knocked out of the tournaments by Island. i’m surprised that people have already started looking at his wrong side before he is even accepted the job. he is the manager who made Pogba the player he is today when he took him as an 18 year old unknown quality. his teams always dominate the opposition, he also blends experience with youth something that is welcome at Stamford Bridge. he likes to have a solid defense again that is something that is welcome at Stamford Bridge. and likes playing with 2 out and out strikers. i don’t know whether he will be appointed and how he will do at this club. but my prediction is that he will be success like Carlo.

CFC1905, as well as being a fan, it will be foolish to completely doubt a manager who has won 3 league titles in Italy without the resources of the likes of Real and Barca.

Interesting stories surrounding Conte about drug taking and match fixing…? KTBFFH

1905, the drug taking story relates back to Conte’s playing career and how Juve were treating players back then inc Zidane and what with, he was never found guilty of anything.

The match fixing allegations date back to his time at Sienna and as I understand he was not charged with match fixing but with over hearing players in the dressing room talking about potentially fixing a match and he was charged with not reporting what he allegedly heard. Conte has always denied the charge although he served a 4 month suspension from football reduced from 10 months in Italy for this.

He now faces a criminal trial on the match fixing charge in May and his lawyers have pushed for this to be bought forward to clear it out of the way prior to the Euro Finals. Seemingly they are confident that nothing will go array but you never know with such things.

None of it is ideal but you would think that Chelsea would have sensibly taken learned legal opinion from a QC who is an expert in Italian law on this and will have an out clause should anything go wrong. Or the rumours of an announcement next week is wrong and although Conte may have agreed a pre contract with Chelsea it won’t be announced until after the Court case has been heard and Conte is in the clear.

Just imagine the embarrassment in Italy should the Manager of the national team be found guilty in an Italian Court of such a charge weeks before he is due to lead them into the Euro Finals. So you would think that all parties would think that nothing problematical will happen. But…..

Why’s it always us eh? ?

Seemingly despite the pending Court case according to Gazzeta dello Sport Conte’s requested 4 backroom staff have been approved by the club and the Club have confirmed Conte’s appointment to him which is likely to be officially unveiled next week???

….according to the Express allegedly Conte will have responsibility for all players from first team to under 18’s in order to help in the clubs pursuit to bring through young players to the first team.

If Conte is a done deal then so be it but I would like to think that Koeman from Soton has at least been considered or possibly the role could still be open to him

He plays decent football, has been in the game himself so knows what goes on, is a big enough name to attract players and obviously knows the EPL very well. His off field persona is also something that would appear to fit in with what Roman is claimed to be looking for…?

I am sure it will not happen but think he is a credible person to at least consider. KTBFFH

1905, I put Koeman forward as a possible some time back and I think he would have been a good shout he isn’t afraid to play young players has done well in the transfer market and knows the PL.

But for whatever reasons and even though Koeman seemingly tried to put himself forward for the role he doesn’t seem to have come into consideration.

It looks like it’s a done deal in respect of Conte now certainly as far as the Italian media and thd bookmskers are concerned and that Conte will be officially announced shortly???? Cheers 999

I’m still concerned with Conté not available right away in the summer. We’ll have a bad pre-season again. Just hope that he will have time to assess the squad before Euro and give the list of his transfer targets to the management. Also: really want to see him bringing Paul Pogba. Pogba will be massive for us. No idea on what happened to Matic though.
